Hi Amy,

I would definately recomend taking Tommy to a rheumetologist. I live

in central calfornia and Take my daughter Ally to Dr. Arce

(rheumetologist) at Valley Childrens hospital in fresno a couple

hours away from where you are. Ally just had a tonsilectomy on

September 22, so far she is fever free. The doctor (ENT) that

performed the T & A was Dr. Dunham from Valley childrens. Ally was on

prednisone as well for her episodes as well. When they diagnosed

Tommy did they test for the other periodic fever syndomes? The only

reason why I ask is because of the pain that he has in his legs. They

generally do a DNA profile to rule out some of the hereditary

periodic fever syndromes. Well I am glad that you found this group it

has really helped me through some tough times. Everyone on here is

very caring and knows what you are going through. Take care.

Sincerely,

Francesca

Hi Amy,

I am in the San area, and we see an ID and ENT dr's at Stanford. If you are

able to make it to Palo Alto- we see Dr. (ID doc) and Dr.

Messner (ENT). Both came highly reccomended and have been wonderful. We

consulted with Dr. Messner about the T & A surgery, and while we are all for it,

we will hold off until (age 3) is a little older and more mature.

Getting his hair cut results in high stress and trauma so I can't imagine a

surgery... Dr. diagnosed with after ruling out other

genetic fever syndromes. We currently use Predisone (Oradpred) and while its not

the best solution for us, its better than 4 day fevers and febrile seizures that

we had in the past. Welcome to the group!

Hi Amy

Just a quick note to say that Emma too used to get pain in her legs.

Particularly her right knee. Looking back I think it started once we started

using prednisone. Although I have never made that connection before - I simply

thought it was a new symptom unrelated to prednisone or one she was finally

able to verbalise once she was old enough.

We had her T & A done on 19th March 2008 and she has been fever free and a far

happier, healthier and more engergetic child since.

Good luck

Hi Amy,

We do not have sinus problems (lots of ear infections as a baby) but always have

complained of leg pain.  The leg pain seem to come before the fever and last

through the episode.  Landon just turned 5 and always wanted to be carried or

ride in a stroller even when " healthy " .  He had a T & A on Sept. 8 and so far

fever free, it will be six weeks tomorrow.  We went to the zoo this past Monday

and he walked the entire day, never once asked to be carried which was a small

miracle.   Good luck to you!

Jackie mom to 8 healthy and to Landon 5 fevering since a baby, T & A

9/8 so far fever free : )

Hi Amy,

I don't get to post too often but yours caught my eye. Teagan, age 2, just had

her follow up with her infectious disease doc to confirm her and he was

amazed that her cycles were to the day. like many doctors, he is still learning

about this syndrome as well. He, along with Teagan's ENT, said she could not

have her tonsils out until age 3 as well. She is only 23 pounds. She had tubes

put in last Jan after 9 mo of nonstop ear infections. she has not had another

but we initially missed because she continued to have colds so we thought.

She seems to get them right before or right after her cycle. I assumed it meant

her immune system lowered during that time. So in other words, I'm surprised

your Janna has frequent sinus infections.

On another note, Teagan who has been cycling since at least June, exactly every

three weeks beginning on Thurs., missed this cycle for some reason. She was

suppose to start prednisone (which we were scared to do) and apparently she

didn't want to take it because the fever never popped up on Thurs. It is now

Sat and she is acting fine. She always complains of head pain the night before

an episode and so far no pain. She did have a cold last week like with a low

fever of 100 which i know was not but I was wondering if it could have

thrown her cycle off. so now we are just waiting with anticipation and

wondering if and when it will be back.

Good luck with your little peanut, she sounds about the same size as mine!

Welcome! I have two teenagers who were partially vaxed (one became

asthmatic/allergic, the other had some learning problems--both are better now

thanks to alternative meds) and two non vaxed who are 13 and 9 (except one had a

tetanus shot). The younger two are the healthiest, although the little guy

suffered some effects of too many antibiotics. And they're all pretty healthy

now.

I don't think I'd consider vaccinations even if I believed they work, because

they are unsafe, and isn't that what it's all about--keeping our children safe?

It doesn't make sense to risk their lives to avoid regular childhood diseases.

Keep reading and asking questions. I applaud you for doing it before you

vaccinated, not like I and so many others who learned the hard way.

Welcome ,

So glad that you are questioning the vaccination juggernaut.

We stopped vaccinating our children in 1976. One was brain injured, one became

asthmatic. As a result my nieces and nephews and grandchild and friends' kids

and neighbours' kids are unvaccinated. I had my last jab in 1977 but DH had

heaps of military vaccines. None since 1980 and definitely no tetanus boosters.

If you believe that vaccines

1.) don't work and

2.) are dangerous,

why would that be any different if you travel to a different country? Good

health does not occur by injecting poisons and it won't suddenly disappear

because you crossed an imaginary and arbitrary frontier on this old Earth of

ours.

I would check to see if any vaccines are compulsory when visiting abroad, and

would ensure that there was the opportunity for exemption from such compulsion.

They probably won't tell you, you will have to dig for the info.

Same rules of good health apply, no matter where you are, or where you are

going.

Good luck in your search for the truth.

Hi: I am new to the group and am excited to find support. I feel like I am alone

among my friends and family to even question the issue of vaccines in children.

I have read Neil Z. , Cave and numerous other books and websites

on the issues and am leaning towards not vaccinating. However, I am not sure my

DH would join me in the bandwagon. We have a 3 month old that we have delayed

vaccinations for a year till we research this further. He has already seen

Dr.Teripenny (sp) video. My question to this group is

1. How many of you have children that have never been vaccinated and are still

healthy??

2. We have family living all over the world including India, Australia, Europe

and China! If we travel to visit them, should we consider vaccinations and how

many people in this group have travelled over the world without vaccinating

their children??

Thanks for all your respo.....

For starters I have not been vaccinated, my son has not been vaccinated and my

17, 15 and 13 year old grandchildren have not been vaccinated.  And I am glad to

say that not only are we all healthy, but my grand children have almost perfect

attendance at school. Keep learning, the health and life of your child depend on

it.

I find it amusing that your question implies unvacinated children may not be or

stay healthy. The truth is no vaccine has ever prevented any disease. Vaccines

can only cause disease, disability and death. Even for people who aren't sure if

vaccines work, know this, a vaccine is supposed to cause the body to create

antibodies to not only fight off the injected virus, but also take care of any

future bad guys who might want to attack you. What this simply means is that a

vaccine is only a test.. Please reread that last statement. Only a test to

provoke the body into creating antibodies.Sooo   What happens if the body fails

the test??? And what test is there to determine whose body may fail or pass such

a test. If your husband won't join you in the bandwagon, than gently push him

off and do this yourself.

Remember your baby has no choice or voice. The burden rest on your shoulders. We

are here if you need us.

For what its worth all childhood diseases, measles, whooping cough, scarlet

fever and polio, the death rate was very rare in 1900 and practically

non-exsistant by 1945.

### I basically made the decision not to vax for both of us, but my

DH would occasionally " threaten " to vax . After about 2 years of

not vaxxing, I watched the Tocco video and mentioned things to

him over the course of a week. He finally " decided " not vaxxing was a

good idea.

My question to this group is

> 1. How many of you have children that have never been vaccinated

and are still healthy??

### is now 4 and completely vax-free. Over the course of 4

years, he's had one minor one-sided ear infection (treated by

chiropractic and garlic oil) and a few minor colds. Ran a mild fever

twice.

> 2. We have family living all over the world including India,

Australia, Europe and China! If we travel to visit them, should we

consider vaccinations and how many people in this group have

travelled over the world without vaccinating their children??

### first travelled when he was 9 months old - we went to

Hawaii. That was about 10 or so hours of flight time, 3 different

planes, 4 different airports. We've also been to Europe 3 times

(again, about 10 hours of flight time each way). No sickness, ever

(well, not true: DH and I got sick; was fine). And we didn't do

anything different, like taking extra probiotics, vitamin C, or such.

Plainly speaking, vaccines do not work and they are dangerous. I

would rather work on strengthening my son's immune system than

bombard it with viruses from vaccines.

Hope this helps,

Magda

My 14 month old has never been sick. She is fully UN-vaxed!

However, you have to take into account that I am a bit of a

germaphobe (sp?). I am not as bad as I once was when she was first

born, however. I am and was more concerned with handwashing because

the house is not exactly spotless. Hmmm, guess that means I am not a

" true " germaphobe! LOL
