When did you sign the current one, has it been over a year? can you invoke the stay put option which would keep him in his currant setting? Which would be more academic then what this program they want him in sounds like? They after all are responsible for making sure that his IEP is written on time and such. Call and ask what they are doing about it. Then personally I'd send the forms back stating that his IEP does not include unlimited field trips/walks off school grounds and never will. that he will do those things with his regular education peers and occasionally with his sped peers. ;-) that Ted drinks water or milk only during school hrs, unless for a celebration for a holiday party with his reg. ed. peers. And why does he need a blanket? Doesn't he already know how to brush his teeth and hair? I do have brush her teeth after lunch but I'm not sure if I'll have them have her do that this year since she hasn't really needed the practice for afew years. the only kids you see in non sped classes maybe brushing their teeth are those who have braces....and even alot of those seem to prefer to just rinse their mouth out with water when done eating. And unless he's still a really messy eater why in the world does he need a washcloth and towel. EEEK. hope schools doesn't start for you til you get this all worked out. Will you keep him at home until this is settled to your satisfaction? Joy

Or what next was there ever a meeting to change placements? or program type? Also is this a legally dated IEP not expired? and do you still have your lawyer on call? They can NOT change anything on the IEP without Prior Written notice and it has to be done at an IEP meeting with the reason on the notice that this is their intentions. I had an IEP meeting this week and I too was worried that they were going to try and change Sara's placement or supports but a friend told me (which I had forgotten) that they have to give me prior written notice if changes were going to be made. The meeting went well, kind of a waste of time really, the new Reg Ed teacher wasn't there so my questions are on hold till next meeting Maybe this week we can schedule a chat and all brainstorm on your situation Kathy mom to Sara 9.........Oh how I hate your school district Heehee it seems they lack respect for the Law...by the way there is a time frame for meetings you call
