Wynn,

I started listening to in December and it helped me to get through

Christmas holidays. Instead of gaining i managed to lose and I was doing great

till the vertigo hit.

Three years ago I had got up to 159 (I'm 5'4 " ) and started working with a

personal trainer. I got down to 134 by eating sensibly and working out with him

but over the last year I had gained back up to 149. I started listening to

, lost 7 pounds and have more or less managed to keep it off even though I

am in the house almost constantly.

We too have really healthy food in the house. Organic fruits and veggies which I

eat alot of and we rarely eat out or buy junk food. BUT I do tend to overdo with

things like honey and homemade bread and if any sweets find their way into my

house they are sure to be eaten by me!! I LOVE anything sweet and when cravings

hit I am HELPLESS! That is what I am working on... cravings for sweets and my

other weakness is that I wake up a few times every night and love eating in the

middle of the night so I'm trying to work on that too. I think that is my

biggest weakness since the cravings for sweets are pretty much under control

lately.

Why don't we do something today for biceps and triceps? And maybe some ab

work????

Come on Wynn. That is pretty simple.  I am really motivated to do it now even

though it means getting up off my comfy sofa and working out! Let me know what

you do.

Oh, and I've already been on the treadmill :-)  What about you?

Corinna, Corinna!

So great to hear from you! We are now 4 strong! I was inspired by you all to

run 6.6 k this morning, when all I wanted to do was sit. There really is

power in this group!

Let me know how you do tonight. We don't all have to run, just move. Spin &

yoga sounds wonderful!

Alright boys and girls!

I am off to the gym. First, I will do some upper body strength and then I'll hit

the treadmill.

Already went for a walk today and hope to relax with Yoga before going to bed!

Cheers to all of us!

Constance agrees!!!! focus on positives no matter how small they seem to us or

others.

Hugs Constance in Mich. Thanks  E V almost done with reading post feel really

really motivated today. ( Of course 12 days of normal sleep cycle could be the

reason too) or maybe just feeling more connected to this group after three weeks

of lurking.

I'm in for the challenge! when should we start? Maybe we can include

neutrals too but stick with the proportions of the diff. foods D'Adamo

recommends in was it CookRight?

We can post our 1st name, desired weight, actual weight posting every day?

(this would motivate me if I had to be accountable daily) Any

thoughts? if interested, you could also post the foods you ate. This might be

interesting. Would the HB only people feel better/achieve their weight

goals faster?

I am interested, but I just received my organic fruit and vegetable order.

Wouldn't you know it has some avoids that I just love. (cucumbers,

strawberries, cantaloupe) It will take me two weeks to eat the cucumbers -

unless I am willing to give them away. Could we wait a week before we

start?

We wouldn't have to post our weight on-line. They say we shouldn't weigh

ourselves everyday anyway (however I still do - it's one way I can check

which foods affect me adversely).

We could post how much we want to lose at the beginning, then how much we

have left reach our goal. For me - 3 pounds in 3 weeks is about all I can

expect, but this HB and B challenge just might surprise me.

I was thinking about October 1st as a start date. That gives us plenty of

time to use stuff up and stock up on things we need. What do you think? We

can start menu planning etc. I bought sweet potatoes today and we have our

own home grown organic beef. Glad of that one believe me. Let's have a

goal we'd like to lose over the 3 weeks. Some of us might want to continue

on past 3 weeks. Which is fine too. I can't do aerobics, have very bad

feet after multiple surgeries, but I can walk. So I will plan on working up

to 2 miles a day before our start date. I have to use a cane, but it still

works, right? I'm going to make my weight loss goal for the 3 weeks, 12

lbs. Any more thoughts?

I'm game to join in and I really like the Oct 1st ideal It gives time to plan

and get mentally serious about it.

I propose:

We NEED to post our starting weight (goal) and progress, but we can use

Einstein's relativity principle - it is all relative to what we want to lose:

The " starting weight is the amount we want to lose " :

So for example I'll claim/post " I weigh 50 pounds as a starting weight " as that

is what I wish to lose.

Fifty pounds.

If I then lose a pound I'll report myself as " 49 lb. with a starting weight of

50. "

That I am happy to share in public.

But it may be fictional. Maybe I want to lose 2 pounds. I can still claim start

weight 50 if I want.

Or maybe I'll start with 5000 and take off ten for each actual pound as it is

ten times harder for me to lose with Cushings syndrome. Whatever - but make some

statement to go by that gives RELATIVE progress and has meaning to you.

Just decide a fictional (or real) starting weight that has meaning to you - so

that any relative changes can be reported. The point is that if we each see

others making progress using actual numbers - it encourages us to do better. So

actual numbers - relatively at least - do count.

> That gives us plenty of

> time to use stuff up and stock up on things we need.

And to plan adjustments for weird requirements like illness issues and

allergies, gluten sensitivity, availability issues etc..

It's a very sensible planning phase:-)

> I can't do aerobics, have very bad

I also need to plan some kind of wheelchair exercises. I used to have CDs on

wheelchair yoga, tai chi, and Qi gong. My kids thought they were weird and

tossed them. Very costly. but gone. I need to reinvest.

So yes - I actually think your idea to plan ahead then start, gives us all a WAY

better chance to do it with success. I'm all for it.

Supposedly I can not lose weight with Cushings - but even if I reduce the gains,

it will be a win.

And who knows - maybe I can prove the Doctors and my past efforts wrong after

all.

It is certainly proven that a support group gives twice the success rate on any

weight loss system.

> I have to use a cane, but it still

> works, right?

Sure. Even if you are sitting down using it to do semaphore!

(May work for me!)

> I'm going to make my weight loss goal for the 3 weeks, 12

No time limit. My start weight is 50, in however long that takes, wanting to SEE

progress of one pound every two weeks and to keep track at least weekly here.

We all have different challenges - I think we can have individual goals and

report how we are doing on OUR particular goal?

Irene

Welcome aboard, !! I'm reading the ABS diet for Women books and

plan to incorporate that info with the ER4YT food list and see how that

goes. I'm going to start making up little daily menus to help myself out.

If I can get to it I will try to post them a day or two in advance so you

can see what I am doing. If it helps you, so much the better!!
