Hope you feel better! I'm on the tail end of feeling bad and know that it's

tough to resist the food while you're not in the mood to prepare...

My theory about PMS is that most cravings stem from a need for fat. Think about

it, chips, ice cream, cheeseburgers (mine), etc., they are all high fat foods.

Try eating some healthy fat, along with something else that is also a good

healthy option. For example: Yogurt with some nuts instead of ice cream. Soy

nuts are salty and crunchy instead of chips; eat with some carrot sticks to

stretch them out. There is not an obvious solution for a cheeseburger, but you

could try a Boca burger with a few olives on the side for fat... it works for me

(sometimes). These snacks may not fall strictly within the prescribed eating

plan, but the positive thing about BFL is that it teaches you to eat better FOR

LIFE. And for life means that not every day will be perfect. If you can learn

to make even moderately healthier choices gradually along the way, you are ahead

of the game! Right?

Once you get used to eating right again, eating the bad stuff will

probably make you feel clogged & heavy - and you've just got to get

back into the routine. Although I have PMS too and I munched on

Doritos & Cheetos last night.

I experienced several phantom shocks after receiving 12 unnecessary shocks

due to a lead breaking. They happen occasionally now but I usually just go back

to sleep. I have found that you just need to focus on anything positive that

is going on in your life and let the unpleasant parts go. (if possible)

Hi Bill, I had lots of phantoms when I was on the verge of sleep at

first. The first one freaked me out big time, but they have

subsided. Personally, I think understanding that they were fear

reaction generated by my brain helped me to get my brain to shut them

down. Back in the archives a ways, there is a link to a Discover

Magazine article about fear. It helped me a lot.

were supposed to be mid 70's today then down a bit the 73 on sunday then back down.

Lunch will be some veggies and rice. Snacks will be fruit and/or baby carrots. I never did eat any of them yesterday.

I've been craving peanut butter (how wierd is that LOL) so PB & fruit spread for lunch on lite bread with celery sticks and maybe a pickle

This afternoon I'll probably do some housework - scrubbing floors, dust & vacuum - all that stuff everyone hates to do. I'll spend some time with my cookbooks and plan next week's food and shopping list, too.

dishes, bike and then the hospital. should do some menu planning too

Dinner is going to be leftovers

Hi Liz,

Right now I'm fighting a cold. I sure hope it's gone by Thanksgiving

because we have to drive to Louisiana, from here in Florida, for

Thanksgiving dinner. I've been feeling tired with my Hep C, but that's

about it for the side effects. I'll be finished my treatment next

week. YYYYEEEEAAAHHH!!!!! It's been a long year.

I'm hoping to have some energy back for Christmas. Hope you and a great

holiday season.

Hi Mom,

I did have that problem and it took time for my appetite to come back. But once it did, WOW! The blood test will show any abnormalities but it takes time for the drug to get out of the system. 3, 4, 5 months. Make sure she is eating the right things.

Those of us in the frozen tundra thank you but it's going to be really tough this week - blizzard action going on here. Snow , wind , ice , it's winter in the G W N (great white north) the only way to stay warm is to stay inside Suzielzwilkinson@... wrote:

Good morning, Liz,

It is finally warming up here in NW Florida to the 50s. This past week we

had mid-20s for a couple of day. Too cold for Florida. I'm hoping it

warms up even more, so I can outside more. I'm a warm weather

person. Now that I'm getting my energy back, having finished treatment 2

months ago, I like to get out and do more. Hope you're feeling OK, too.

Good for you. When I had my assessment done last week, I was

shocked. It was a REAL eye opener. Im at 36% body fat. ICK. I

can't WAIT to get it done again in a month. I KNOW it will be much

less. The part that I am most amazed at already is my cardio. When

I did my first cardio about 10 days ago, I could honestly only do

about 7 minutes. Well...yesterday am I did a GREAT, INTENSE 20

interval workout. Then last night I met with my trainer for the

first time and after our UBWO I was raring to go. I did another 30

mintues of cardio. It actually felt GOOD. I'm telling you..I

actually ENJOYED it. Now..that's CRAZY. LOL This morning though I

am paying for it. My body is REALLY tired today, but a good tired.

Here's to a GREAT reduction on our next assessments. :)

Sounds like you shouldn't have any trouble achieving your goals :)

Cardio is kind of addicting. I find that if I am listening to some

good tunes, I end up doing about 45minutes or more, don't realize

that I have stayed on that long until the CD starts over again.

So, (raising the water bottle) here's to kicking butt and taking

names this challenge :)

Good luck ! Although luck has nothing to do with it. I've already

lost 3 lbs. In scale weight in less than 2 weeks, so it does work! Take

those before pictures before you see too much change, you want your after

photos to look amazing compared to them!

Ladies

Although I have been lurking (only posted a couple of times) and I

don't officially start until tomorrow, I just wanted to let you know

that I have gotten into 3 different pairs of jeans that I haven't

worn in 3/4 years. Guess I better pull out those hidden suits also.

I have been going to the gym for the last month and getting adjusted

to eating soo much food before I take the plunge. I just need pics

and measurements. All else is done. Wish me luck.

To stay successful at losing weight you need to make it into a

lifestyle and not a 'diet'. This is very important to change your

mindset. Otherwise you are doomed to the yoyo of dieting, losing,

dieting, losing, with no end. Check out the main BFL site

http://www.bodyforlife.com where they feature many former challenge

winners who are still fitntrim.

Exercise has to be part of the change - not just to be leaner

(because you can 'diet' and not exercise) but to be healthier. You

have to 'fit it in' no matter what. It goes hand in hand with

changing your eating habits. Having little time, you may think the

exercising part is the hardest, but you will have to plan plan plan

the eating part to be successful - and to keep it off for a lifetime

you will have to integrate the eating plans you make into not a

restricted plan, but just what you do, how you eat. You have to make

this commitment to CHANGE - for good.

One motivation I have always had is that being the mother of two

children (now grown tho), the mere thought that I might miss out on

their lives by shortening mine thru bad health (that I couldve

prevented but didnt bother or care enough to), always pushes me on

to be healthier. We all know that if you carry around extra weight

it will shorten your life. We deny it quite like a smoker who doesnt

want to quit. Facing the reality of our own mortality is one thing

that will motivate you to get out of bed in the morning to workout!

Think that everytime you workout and eat healthy that you are adding

days, months and years onto your life to share more of yourself with

your loved ones will keep you always on track. :-)

you haven't seen it. We didn't have it when you were here four years

ago and it's a big help.
