Now, that sounds like a good trip to Europe.

I have been to NV 5 times this year, twice to Vegas and three times to

Reno, and they were all for business with vets. Reno was a lot of fun,

but I didn't even get out of the hotel from Tuesday until Friday. It was

in the 90s all week, I was told.

The only reason to look forward to tx is so it will be over sooner. I

wish I had started a year or more ago. The only real side effects that I

have noticed is the hair loss, but it will grow back.

The last time I was in Cali I lived in Santa Cruz for a month doing "illegal street camping". The city, very thoughtfully, provided a weekday wake up service that went something like. "ALL RV'S MUST BE MOVED IN THE NEXT 15 MINUTES OR YOU WILL BE CITED! THIS IS NOT A CAMPGROUND!" over a bull horn at 5:00am, they didn't come by on the weekends and that was a nice break. Santa Cruz is an INCREDIBLE place. It's the only place that I've ever been that I would be willing to be homeless in order to live there. I have really good friends in Santa Cruz!

Good job on losing 4 of the 6 pounds you gained. I have a dumb question - if you gained after going off the liquid diet in November, won't that happen again? That's also part of the reason I am not going to take those shots - though I did give it a second thought Sunday

good morning

Hi All --

Gained 6 pounds. Have lost 4 of them in the past week.

Have pretty much decided that I will be going back on the medically-supervised liquid fast. I've put about 20 pounds back on since going off it last November.

In the past week I've had appointments with both of my physicians and my dietitian; together we have decided that right now my focus is going to be keeping consistent, accurate food records -- and keep working on maintaining a 1400 calorie food intake and working on getting my exercise routine back on track. We will do that for a month and see what happens. My husband went with me to the appointments -- and he is going to work on the same goals as I am -- only with slightly more calorie intake. Doing it together is going to help -- as long as he doesn't become my "diet police".

Basically, I've resisted going back on the liquid fast -- because it really didn't teach me anything. Or I didn't learn how to eat in the "real world."

My primary care physician has been a really great cheerleader for me. She is encouraging & supportive. She has applauded me for continuing to work on this healthier lifestyle for the past two years. In fact, all three of them have told me that they are impressed that I am continuing with the program & continuing with the follow-up. A lot of other people just give up and drop out of the program.

My weight loss physician did put me back on a very low dosage of adapex (appetite suppressant). It does seem to be working. Not eating as much.

thanks for the reply Dacia, I wasn't picking on

you just wondering. It's great hubby is doing it

with you. 1400 calories? is that enough? is

someone teaching how to eat in the real world

this time? Good luck to both of you

Yeah, I have a really great dietitian who is working with me. My weight loss doc wanted me to go to 1000 calories a day. Just don't want to do that right now. May work on gradually getting down there -- will wait and see how it goes. One thing my doc tells me is that there are studies that show that everyone underestmiates their calorie intake by about 30% -- no matter how hard you work at keeping an accuarte food journal. I aim for 1400 cals a day -- knowing that I am probably getting more. I am going to work on holding to 1400 for a couple of weeks and see what happens. If the weight still isn't coming off, I will work on getting to 1200 cals a day. I find if I do it gradually, then my body gets used to it. I know going from 1600 to 1000 overnight is not a good thing for me to do.

That's about how I feel about liquid fasts and WLS.

It's nice to get an " atta girl " now and then. :)

Good luck, and happy journalling!

Dear ,

I am sorry to hear about your aunt diagnose, but you have found a very

informativ e and supportive group with us.

I would suggest you look at the archives to read some old post as well as

other sources of information.

www.CLLTopics.org is a very good source of information and useful to look

into.

The emotional side is very complex as everyone reacts in a different way but

having somebody like you to help and support your aunt is a tremendous help.

We are all here to help, please feel free to ask questions.

with best wishes

Hi Di,

I'm Allan with 2 L's

I'm a non-responder after 8 months of the old "combo". I lost somewhere between a third to half of my hair. Not only on my head but all over my body (I was a pretty hairy guy). It mostly grew back except for parts of my body and not as thick on my head. Although for me it doesn't much matter as I wear a severe crewcut now.

I will tell you this. Of the literally hundreds of people I seen in person on TX only 1 lost a small clump of hair on his head although he also had a brain aneurysm which more than likely was the cause. I have heard ( and seen) it grow back a different color or even change, i.e. wavy/curly to straight and vice-a-versa. Mostly it's a "thinning".

It takes about 6 months for the bulk of it to grow back. I'm no less vain than anyone else but it the long run, the hair deal is kinda minor.
