Dani,

The only organ of the human body capable of producing anti-bodies to

fight the polio virus is in the tonsils. If you think about the medical

drive to routinely pull our tonsils (get your whole family done and get

a discount!!!) of the 30's, 40's and 50's....it's no wonder poilio

emerged. There is much evidence to back this up on the internet...

Hi , my name is and I am new to the list. I am a first time

Mom of a beautiful 4 month old baby girl (no vax). I have learned a lot

reading all of the posts but this one in particular caught my eye due to

your mention of an organic produce co-op. I struggle to find organic

produce and buy all I can when I do find it. I am very interested in

finding a co-op such as yours in my area. How do I go about finding such

a thing? I live in Southern California approx. 45 miles east of Los

Angeles. If you can give me some info I would really appreciate it as I

am getting to the time I will be introducing solid food to my baby (in a

few months) and I want to make my own baby food with organic produce. Any

help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, !

I would first look into finding a distributor. The distributor could get you

in touch with a group. My suggestion is that you ask your local food co-op

or health food store who their distributors are (you don't have to tell them

why). I would imagine you are in a great place as much of our produce comes

from CA. 80% of the produce grown is from the San Joaquin Valley (that's all

produce in stores, conventional & Organic).

I'm sure you can find one! Let me know how you fare...

Hi ,

If you find anything out please let me know. We live in San Clemente. Oh

wait I just thought of something. There is a delivery co. called ...I can't

remember, but their number is 310-organic I think it was $20, or a $35 box

of fruits and vegies or just one or the other that they will deliver to your

house. I was going to do that, but they had a hard time getting on base so

they didn't want to bother, which I can't say I really blame them. I mean if

you don't have a military sticker on your vehicle they search it and boy do

they search it!! Anyway, I can't remember the name of the co., but it

sounded like a good deal. I think it is organicexpress.com. I hope this

helps, but if you find out any other info please let me know.

Do you have any health food stores? Look there, if so, I picked up some

brochures at my local HFS, and signed up for a local co-op on the advice of a

friend. You need to network and ask around. Is there a state organic growers

organization? If so, check with them.

Hi Kim ... the wonderful thing about BFL is that you don't have to be all that

rigid. If someone is using the dumbell shoulder press then move on to another

machine. It sounds like you're doing a great job. BTW - you can get in those

egg proteins by using egg whites mixed with other things - like scramble them

with oatmeal. You won't even taste them that way. Or make protein pancakes.

Let me know if you want recipes for these.

Keep up the good work!

Rita

Intro

Hello everyone. I found this group yesterday and noticed you all

seem very helpful and supportive of each other so I thought I'd join

you. I'm in week 6 of BFL. It's going pretty well. If my body fat

calipers can be trusted, I've lost about 5-1/2 lb of fat and gained 2-

1/2 lb of muscle - not huge, but pretty good considering I had lost

20 lb (post baby pounds) from Jan. to end of April, so I'm in that

stage of losing the last 10-15 (of fat) which seems to be pretty

challenging. My eating is 1000x better than it was prior to BFL, but

I still struggle with it as I'm not a fan of either eggs or cottage

cheese so protein is sometimes a pain and I've resorted to shakes and

bars more than I'd like. The workouts are getting better as time

goes on too - I'm getting better at hitting 10s more often, though

that has definitely been a learning experience too. One question on

that, sometimes I can't do the same exercise (ie. dumbbell shoulder

press) because the dbs have a flock of teenagers around them/using

them - is it bad to switch to the machines when this happens? I know

you should do the same exercise for four weeks or so (not counting

the last set of 12 of course) though...

Anyway, not to ramble on forever here, but my last bit of info is

that I'm a work-at-home mom and I have two sons, ages 3 years and 8

months. BFL has really been wonderful as it's given me a way to get

out of the house (even if it is at 6 a.m.) and make my dh take care

of the kids! hehehe

Anyway, I will go now, but I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hiya Kim and welcome to the group :) I don't know much about working out in

the gym since DH and I home gym but I make protein pancakes with Cottage

Cheese (since I detest it any other way!) and protein muffins with eggs and

protein powder.. since DH and I don't want to use any supplements other than

the protein powder which we buy in bulk so it's cheap :) If you're

interested.. both those recipes are here

http://users.starpower.net/kuranes/BFL/BFLrecipes.html And then I think I'm

turning into a chicken since we're currently on a chicken run :)

Hi Kim!

Just wanted to say welcome to the board! and congradulations on the progress

you have made so far.

As far as your question IMHO if the weights that you need are being used

then you can 1] wait to use them, 2]ask if you could jump in and share the

weights, or 3]do what you need to do and if that is to use the machines than

so be it. I say as long as you do work the body part then you are in good

shape! LOL

Kim:

Hi and welcome! This is a great group, very supportive.

I think going to the machines is perfectly fine, as long as you hit

your 10s that is the main thing! I have found that the earlier I go

to the gym, the fewer the teenagers, especially with my LB. DH has

most of the weights in the basement so I usually go down there, but I

am paying $$$ for the gym so I try to go there too!!

I am also in week 6 but this week has not been the greatest. Looking

towards tomorrow though!

Good luck with everything and congrats on your weight loss!

Thanks for the welcome and advice, Joann! I think I'll stick with doing the

machines when I have to - I actually had a really good workout on them the other

day (better than I've been getting with the dbs lately!).

Hi Serenity! Thanks for the welcome. I have tried your protein pancakes (saw

them from another list) and they are great! I will have to try the protein

muffins next!

Hi Rita. That's good to know - I had thought we did need to be somewhat rigid

with BFL (and I tend to become obsessive about " instructions " - lol) so this is

a great load of my mind! lol

I hadn't thought of putting egg whites into other things - I will have to try

that! I've been having a shake EVERY morning for breakfast and that's getting a

bit old!

Thanks!

Thanks Jana! I ususally do go in the mornings and like it much better then, but

I am stuck once a week with the teenagers! lol Oh well, I'll just go to the

machines, which is fine with me, I just didn't know if it would matter.

Kim

PS Week five wasn't too great for me - not bad, just nothing to write home

about! lol Week six has been better though.

your 10s that is the main thing!

Hi - welcome back! Sounds like you are determined this time which means

you will do well! Have you reread the book? That sometimes helps ... and don't

forget the three magic words - plan, plan, plan! :)

Much luck to you and I look forward to reading your posts.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I originally joined this group

during my first challenge last year and have been back on and off

since then. I was very happy with the results of my first challenge

and stuck with it for several months after, but then we moved from

South Carolina to California and I started a new business. With all

of that, my workouts became less and less and I found myself only

eating 1 meal a day and that was usually bad food.

I started a new challenge this past January, but was not real strict

about it and my results showed that. I still had good results, but

not like during my first challenge. Well, I'm ready to get serious

again and I started my third challenge last week!

I look forward to having this board for support and hopefully giving

some support myself. I know it has been a great help to me in the

past!

One of the best things I've heard about BFL is this: KISS (Keep it Simple

Stupid) lol

Now that doesn't mean you don't have to eat clean and hit those 10's ... but if

someone is impeding you from doing the exercise you want and you have to switch

then you do whatever you have to but still work those same muscles... that's

what I meant about not being rigid. I am pretty anal about following

instructions, too! I like everything spelled out for me and then I can follow

it without a problem. BFL does make you think. :)

Rita

Hi Andy and Nann; my name is Patty and I also use Melt. I joined

the group last October and have come to know many as friends and an

understanding here that I have never known in the 25 years since my

onset. I am sorry to say I am no help with the kidney stones but

hope your husband recovers quickly and it is nice to meet you. Till

Hi

I have been in this forum for a few months. I. like you, do not work out in

the wide open world, but I do work mostly by myself in Staffs, UK. This

forum has been very interesting and very helpful in getting 'the wider

picture' on what is going on 'out there'.

I, again probably like you, do not give a great deal of input, but there

have been some specific questions thrown at us 'townies', so I am sure that

we, they or whoever will be grateful of anything you want to share.

It is also nice to know that there are others in this club that are alien to

the wider world in their regular employment who are interested in what is

going on, it breeds a healthier person and is bound to provide better care

(ultimately) to the patient.

That's what I feel anyway.

Now a question for Ian, because I am not that clever on these machines!! Do

you have a complete list of who, and where everybody is on this group? (You

may have a complete listing, but as I said, I am not over bright!). I know

people are mobile and get around a bit so country addresses may change, but

sometimes I think it would be useful to know if anybody is in a specific

place. For example, I could have done with a little information from

Australia a month or so back (thermometers again!!), is anybody in the

Australasian region?

See you

Steve

Hi Steve, Bob McCarron here, yes there are a couple of us in Australia, I

have been a remote paramedic for over 15 years, started with London

ambulance in early 70's then USA for a few years and then on to the RAN in

Australia, have worked Asia, South Pacific, NZ, French Guiana and a lot of

work outback Australia, if I can ever help let me know. I think a list of

where everyone is, would be a great idea, phone numbers also if agreed

upon. Best regards bob.

Cheers Ian,

I did hear Anton about but he is as rare as the red kite in Wales at the

moment, I haven't seen much of him myself recently.

I did try to get on to the group thingamy, but it asked for a password

etc, as I have not logged on before or since I have not investigated

further... short of time. I will look when I get chance.

Thanks for now

start here, read the two articles, and read the reasons why I don't vaccine

http://www.whale.to/vaccines/note.html

john

Intro

Hi! My name is Tara, I have 2 kids. A 2.5 yo

daughter and a 6 wk son. My eldest received her vacs

until around 9 mo. At that point I started hearing

enough info about vaccines that I started questioning

them and refused to give her anymore until I learn

more about them and figured I should aqt least delay

vax until she was two. The only reason I have felt

this and picked the age of two was because of what

other people have said, not any research or anything

more substantial. Well, she is 2.5 now and I have a

second kid so I figure I should start researching and

figure out for myself why I am not vaxing and do so

for a well informed reason. From everything I have

heard and read so far they make me wary. Like the gov

saying yes there is mercury in the vax and no it's not

safe but keep poisoning your kiddos until there is a

better altnerative! How about not giving anymore with

mercury and just wait. That really got to me. I have

made the decision not to vax but I need to be able to

prove why I don't for my kids sake. Also, I still

have to figure out what this means legally here in my

state. I hope all this has made sense as I am a sleep

deprived, naking (nursing at keyboard) mama. I look

forward to being a part of this group. I could really

use the support that it sounds like it provides,

especially with the research. The decision to vax or

not to vax I think is very important and should not be

taken lightly. I think either decision should be made

knowing all the facts, that is now my goal, although

the decision is already made.

Thanks. I know what you mean about pc problems. I am just a librarian!

Re: Intro

I haven't been on much lately as have had SEVERE pc problems but am hopeful I

am back in action. I just want to say how GOOD it is to " see " you here,.

You have been a major source of research and recommended as necessary reading

for many of us on this board...and not just for vax issues either. We have some

wonderful dedicated people here and I am grateful to be a part of this board.
