Guest guest
LOTS of info on tetanus here: http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/tetanus.htm http://www.whale.to/vaccines/tetanus.html When in doubt, check Sheri N's website. Guest guest
Kim, I second what Venita said. As long as you cleaned the wound well, even in the remote possibility that the particular piece of the scooter had been buried in the ground, then you don't really need to worry. Tetanus cannot live in the air, and they cannot " survive " a proper cleaning. ~Robyn Venita Garner wrote: > If the scooter is always above ground, you’re fine. It can’t live in > oxygen. Guest guest
le, I am personally not concerned about Tetanus for the following reasons: 1. Frequency = only 50-100/yr and the vast majority are over 25yrs old 2. Fatality = only 15% 3. Also, as someone else mentioned, you could always get this 'as needed' (my stats above are taken from Dr Sears book whom I don't necessarily trust because he is pro-vaccine BUT I figured that based on this he would not underestimate the risks of the diseases (as I worried that some pro-NON-vaccine books might)) Based on that I couldn't justify it for my daughter at 2mo's old. Good luck. -paul > I have a girlfriend who is in need of info on the DTaP vaccine. Her son > will be 6 months on this appt and is due to get this vaccine. Guest guest
Hi! Just keep the wound clean! The tetanus shot is a joke. If fact, the majority of blood poisoned victims were vaccinated! Guest guest
I pour hydrogen peroxide on bad wounds, although I'm sure it's cleaned out by now if you had her checked out. Then I use homeopathic arnica to help it heal. Anyway, it's too late to worry about tetanus if you're thinking " should I have vaccinated her? " I don't mean that to sound blunt, but just worry about the wound--she'll be fine. So scary, though. You must have been a wreck. Poor baby. I hope she's not too traumatized. Guest guest
sounds scary and glad she is OKAY. How is she emotionallY? Could make suggestions for homeopathy. Tetanus only develops in wounds that are deep with no air. Sounds like these are all superficial. Just wash the wounds well with soap and water - that is your best defense See the reality of tetanus and the dangers of the vaccines on my webpage http://www.wellwithin1.com/tetanus.htm Sheri listowner > > Hi, > > My daughter is okay and at home now, however she was hit by a car that was > backing out of our driveway this evening. > > She has very, very, very bad 'road rash'. Guest guest
Thank you so much Sheri! She's okay. Very, very uncomfortable. She remembers it very well and keeps saying " I fell down by Isabel's car! " . I'm giving her traumeel in her water, 1M arnica pellets (not in water) alternately with that and rescue remedy when she's really upset. Not sure what else to do, but I'm very, very open to any suggestions. On Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 11:15 AM, Sheri Nakken <stopvaccinesnow@...> wrote: > sounds scary and glad she is OKAY. Just watch for any other symptoms - sometimes aconite for shocking things. Aconitum napellus: This remedy can be helpful when a person feels extremely fearful or agitated after being injured. It may help to soothe anxiety and panic and reduce the chance of shock. Arnica montana: This is the major remedy for new traumatic injuries—especially bruises, sprains, and concussions. Symptoms are worse from touch and motion. Arnica can be helpful for painful bruising and tissue-damage caused by surgery and dental work—given preventively before an anticipated injury, and used to treat the soreness afterward. It is also helpful in preventing shock. Bellis perennis: This remedy is useful for injuries to the trunk and deeper tissues—as from falls, car accidents, surgery, etc. —especially if a feeling of stiffness or coldness develops in the injured area. If Arnica has been given for an injury—especially a strain or bruise—but has not had much effect, Bellis perennis may be helpful. Calcarea phosphorica: This remedy is useful for bone bruises, old or slow-healing fractures, or any injury that leads to soreness in the bones, especially if the area feels cold or numb and improves with warmth. The muscles near the injury may ache or stiffen. Calendula: This is a very helpful remedy for cuts and scrapes or other injuries with broken skin. Potentized Calendula can be taken internally, to prevent or combat infection if a cut or scrape becomes inflamed. Herbal calendula can be applied directly to wounds as an ointment, lotion, or diluted tincture. Hypericum: This remedy is indicated for injuries to body areas with many nerves, such as fingertips and toes, the genitals, the spine and tailbone, and the eyeballs. Shooting pains, a feeling of “jangled nerves,” and pains mixed with tingling and numbness are strong indications. People with concussions, nerve pain after surgeries and root-canals, or bites and puncture wounds may benefit from Hypericum. Ipecacuanha: This remedy can be helpful as first aid if heavy bleeding occurs after an injury, with a feeling of nausea and weakness. (Emergency care is crucial when serious bleeding occurs; pressure should be applied to a severely bleeding wound, and medical help should be found immediately.) Ledum palustre: This remedy is indicated for injuries that lead to puffy swelling, especially when ice-packs or cold applications bring relief. Sprained ankles or knees, bashed noses, black eyes, or any kind of bruising injury that is painful and very swollen may respond to Ledum. Millefolium: Contusions or sprains that involve small broken blood-vessels and lead to bruiselike bleeding beneath the skin suggest the use of this remedy. It is often also useful for nosebleeds after injury, and for bleeding in other parts of the body (for instance, after childbirth or surgery). Phosphorus: When small wounds bleed easily, or a person has a tendency to bruise from minor injuries, this remedy can be helpful. It is also useful for nosebleeds. Ruta graveolens: This remedy is helpful for injuries to tendons, joints, and muscles, and has a special affinity to the coverings of the bones (the periosteum). Bone-bruises, barked shins, or any injury that leads to stiffness and aching may respond. Ruta is often useful after Arnica for sprains, pulled muscles, and connective tissue injuries. Symphytum: This remedy is best known for its healing effect on broken bones, and is also good for bone-bruises. It is valuable if blunt injury occurs to the eyeball (from a rock, a stick, a flying object, etc.) Any injury to the eye or eyeball should be examined by a doctor. Guest guest
Thank you for this remedy list Sheri. It's most helpful. After Winnie's e-mail, I was wondering if I did the wrong thing by giving her the 1M, and perhaps I did. I gave her 2 doses, 1 pellet upon return from hospital, and one about 13 hours later, after which I went back down to the 30. I sneeked one dose of the 30 at hospital, but at that point, it's really not going to do much visually, you know? So, after seeing her 36 hours after (meaning right now), I think that the 1M was maybe the right thing for the extent of the injuries. She's basically pulp from the waist down. They said she would be unable to walk for about 2 weeks, and from there it would be very slow. Yesterday she started moving her left leg, which had no movement whatsoever from the time of the accident, and her right she now has full mobility in, and it was very limited at the time of the accident. Then, this morning, I had a quick shower and when I got out I heard her yell (she had been sleeping). I ran to get her and she was STANDING! next to the bed. I almost fell over. We had a big party, and then she had to be picked up (can't walk). So, yay for her. She totally has her spirit back, now her body just needs to follow. In addition, she just had a check up with the family doctor. She knows, of course, that Lilly is not vaccinated and never mentioned anything about it, so I assume she doesn't have any fear of teatanus from the injuries she has. She also took all the wrappings off and said she's free to leave them open to the air. What a relief. Finally, she confirmed that we are fully out of trauma watch!!!! What a change from when I first desperately e-mailed the group! Thanks so much everyone for your well wishes for our girl. And Sheri - this is of remedies are perfect. I've printed them out and it's on the fridge so that's it's easily accessible as we go through the physical and emotional healing process with her over the next couple of months. Guest guest
Glad to hear she's doing better. I still am leery of the 1M. Where did you get that strength? It's not commonly bought so am just wondering. Anything that potent should only be given once, even 200C I would only give once. It's my understanding that a lower strength is used for acute conditions and a higher one for chronic conditions, and to stop once you see it is working. Sheri, what is your recommendation on strengths? Does the strength matter if you use in water? Winnie Re: Re: tetanus Vaccinations > Thank you for this remedy list Sheri. That is not accurate. I teach how to use 200C in water for minor acutes and first aid (30C often isn't strong enough - you have to have a potency that is a little stronger than the strength of an illness and some serious injuires or strong minor acutes need 1M to work and certainly 200C. 30C often will not. You don't want to give 200C for anything that is recurring acutes or chronic and I teach that in my class. For those that have not gone thru my class I would only recommend 30C until people know how to determine the above. But if she had consulted me I would have suggested at least 200C and probably 1M (although would usually try 200C first) Again see the instructions I send for minor acutes and first aid. Chronic is a whole other situation and NEVER do I use higher for chronic - LM1 or 30C in water to begin with usually or if person really sensitive start with 6C (all in water) >Sheri, what is your recommendation on strengths? Guest guest
It sounds as if having some 1M arnica on hand is a good idea, then. I only treat for acute, mostly using 30C and stop when it begins to work--seems to do the trick. I do give my son 200C for poison ivy because he gets it bad, but I just give one dose of that. You would give more than one dose of 200c or 1M? Your list showed suggested remedies but I didn't see anything about frequency.
