I used religious exemption for my daughter when she entered High School (She had been home schooled), even though the exemption was not for religious reasons. They would not except the truth, but told me it was ok to lie. I just stated: Due to religious reasons (name) is not vaccinated. That was acceptable. My kids had been vaccinated until my youngest had a really bad reaction. She is fine and has had no shots for 12 1/2 years. After that I educated myself.

I notice that this book had been mentioned before on this group, but I thought I'd mention it again----"Don't Vaccinate Before You Educate" written by Dr Eisenstein. He owns the Homefirst (www.homefirst.com) clinics in the Chicago area and has over 10,000 unvaccinated clients/families. He's also a lawyer. The book has a chapter on how to write a religious exemption letter. I personally talked to Dr Eisenstein and he said that each family should write their own letter in order to make it personalized to their own "personal religious beliefs". I did follow his outline and used many of his biblical quotes though.. The letter I wrote based on his book worked for my daughter's elementary here in Illinois.

Dear Liz -

I did something like this for years, as well, but my kids were going

to camps (not school, as they've been homeschooled), and it was

accepted. When I had 2 in college, a friend offered me her letter,

but it's very proprietary, and it's not ok with her if I pass it on.

This lady (who asked for my help) is enrolling her son in public

school, so I will pass this onto her as well as the help from other

members.

THANKS!!!!

Take care,

t

Hello All!

We are a military family, so we move around a bit. I have claimed

religious exemptions in PA, NJ, HI, and Guam. I use the same format

for each letter, which I take with me when I go to register the

children.

I keep my letter brief...

Pursuant to the GCA Health and Safety Statute Title 10, Section 3322

of Chapter 3 and Senate Bill #942, Section 1, Chapter 7, under the

title EXEMPTION FROM IMMUNIZATION, I herby declare that, I, XXXX

XXXX, as parent having responsibility for my child, XXX XXXX, who is

a minor to be enrolled in school, withhold my consent and let it be

known that she is exempted from any and all vaccinations on the

grounds that such is contrary to my personal religious beliefs.

I also attach the state statute and the following

SENATE BILL #942 SECTION 1 CHAPTER 7

3380 - IN ENACTING THIS CHAPTER, IT IS THE INTENT OF THE LEGISLATTURE

TO PROVIDE: EXEMPTION FROM IMMUNIZATION FOR MEDICAL REASONS OR FOR

PERSONAL BELIEFS.

3385 - IMMUNIZATIONS OF A PERSON SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED FOR ADMISSIONS

TO A SCHOOL OR OTHER INSTITUION IF THE GUARDIAN, PARENT, OR ADULT

WHO HAS ASSUMED RESONSIBILITY FOR HIS OR HER CUSTODY AND CARE IN THE

CASE OF A MINOR, OR THE PERSON SEEKING ADMISSION FILES WITH THE

GOVERING AUTHORITY, A LETTER OR AFFIDAVIT STATING THAT SUCH

VACCINATIONS ARE CONTRARY TO HIS/HER BELIEFS.

This has been all we've needed each time. Hope this helps!

typically you cite the state's law/regulation within the body of the

letter. What state are you in?

Hi,

I was interested in knowing if anyone has claimed religious exemption status for

there children in public schools using the Congregation

of Universal Order.

I was concerned that it was viewed as not a bona fide religion due to some of

the negative attention it received from that NY Times article a couple years

ago.

Please let me know your experiences. I am in NY.

My son is entering kindergarten. He has had pain and arthritic symptoms in his

legs since age 2 (although no diagnosis). He received Hep B at birth, no

vaccines since.

I am hoping and praying for no hassles upon kindergarten registration!
