Guest guest
In NJ I am able to use it, but I also had to write a personal letter with it stating my religious convictions on it. I have a 2007 graduate plus one in June one in 2013 and a first grader who have all used it. Religious exemption Hi,I was interested in knowing if anyone has claimed religious exemption status for there children in public schools using the Congregation of Universal Order.I was concerned that it was viewed as not a bona fide religion due to some of the negative attention it received from that NY Times article a couple years ago. Please let me know your experiences. I am in NY.My son is entering kindergarten. He has had pain and arthritic symptoms in his legs since age 2 (although no diagnosis). He received Hep B at birth, no vaccines since.I am hoping and praying for no hassles upon kindergarten registration!catherine

Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am finally going to put in our religious exemption this year but with all this craziness I am so afraid. Laws change all of the time. I am starting to freak out about our rights being taken away and then what? I know I should just think in the present, but with the new Obama Administration and health care reform, I just don't know what will be. Is anyone as nervous about all of this as I am. I have nobody to vent to except all of you. Please help me come to terms with my decison to not vaccinate. Something keeps on holding me back and I just don't know why or what! Maybe it is all of the people that I associate with feeding their children loads of junk and running to the doctor for every little thing. I just feel so out of place, because we eat organic foods try to stay away from anything processed and only go to the doctor for emergencies. They look at me like I have two heads whenever I discuss natural medicine. My son had a sore throat one day and my friend said I better bring him to the doctor and make sure it isn't swine flu. She was in a panic and we ended the playdate early. How ridiculous is that!!! I guess I just need reassurance AGAIN that everything will be fine. Thanks everyone, Jen ________________________________

Guest guest
Jen, I can't predict if everything can be fine, and Obama isn't responsible for the what happened years ago to put the medical industry in charge of our country, but you're asking about two things here: health care reform and how it will affect you, and about your coming to terms with not vaxing. I would say if you want to be like your friends who run to the doctor for every little thing, then you know what to do. Why are they holding you back from feeling comfortable with your decisions on vaccinating? I'd think it would confirm it. Do you really think vaccinating your children will make health care reform better or your children healthier? I doubt it. You're smarter than that. Separate the two concerns. You know you're doing the right thing. Don't measure yourself by what the rest of the world is doing. Guest Kaizmama
Hello All! We are a military family, so we move around a bit. I have claimed religious exemptions in PA, NJ, HI, and Guam. I use the same format for each letter, which I take with me when I go to register the children. I keep my letter brief... Pursuant to the GCA Health and Safety Statute Title 10, Section 3322 of Chapter 3 and Senate Bill #942, Section 1, Chapter 7, under the title EXEMPTION FROM IMMUNIZATION, I herby declare that, I, XXXX XXXX, as parent having responsibility for my child, XXX XXXX, who is a minor to be enrolled in school, withhold my consent and let it be known that she is exempted from any and all vaccinations on the grounds that such is contrary to my personal religious beliefs. I also attach the state statute and the following SENATE BILL #942 SECTION 1 CHAPTER 7 3380 - IN ENACTING THIS CHAPTER, IT IS THE INTENT OF THE LEGISLATTURE TO PROVIDE: EXEMPTION FROM IMMUNIZATION FOR MEDICAL REASONS OR FOR PERSONAL BELIEFS. 3385 - IMMUNIZATIONS OF A PERSON SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED FOR ADMISSIONS TO A SCHOOL OR OTHER INSTITUION IF THE GUARDIAN, PARENT, OR ADULT WHO HAS ASSUMED RESONSIBILITY FOR HIS OR HER CUSTODY AND CARE IN THE CASE OF A MINOR, OR THE PERSON SEEKING ADMISSION FILES WITH THE GOVERING AUTHORITY, A LETTER OR AFFIDAVIT STATING THAT SUCH VACCINATIONS ARE CONTRARY TO HIS/HER BELIEFS. This has been all we've needed each time. Hope this helps! Hi to whomever posted this above ^^ I am a new parent living in Guam and I would like to know how did you go about applying for an exemption in Guam? Did you just drop off your affidavit without signing or filling out any forms from the exemption office?. I went to the exemption office and they gave me an application which they want me to sign. The lady did not mention anything about me having the option of writing up my own affidavit that would please the law. I don't like the wording where it says, "vaccines are the best way to prevent diseases and nevertheless I am requesting an exemption". It seems to me if I sign something like that, i am denying my child of the "perfect" protection and possibly setting me up for child endangerment? Any help of advice would be most helpful!! Thank you!! Here is the application if you would like to have a looksie.
