What is the normal AST and ALT levels supposed to be? Mine are running anywhere from normal to around 3000.... In Jan. both were 99, first of Feb. they were in the low 1000's. But in Dec. they were in the 3000's.

Re: [ ] (unknown)

Hi Jan,Im not sure when i got the bug, but i was diagnosed a year ago and I am just now eligible for Tx. I live in BC and we have socialized meds here so you have to have at least 150% normal AST and ALT . Everything was OK til Dec. then my counts went thru the roof....234 & 128 yikes!!!!Anyways, all is well , i have a biopsy next month and hope to start treatment soon. I have to decide whether to wait for pegylated to come on the market as it is only in trials here.ttylRoccoAt 05:02 PM 2/21/02 -0500, you wrote:

OOps, your right. i think it is hepc support, or something. Oh well,

happy heppers everywhere. I guess its just serendipity. Smilin' Sandi is

a lady up here in canada and we were trying to find a time and place to

have a Canuck Hepc chat, to discuss our (sic) fabulous health care

system.......and the issues we face here. She has a website called Smilin

Sandis crusade...check it out.

Hi Rocco..I am starting tx again in 3 weeks..I have taken the Rebetron-Inferon before and had problems handling it but as they say 3rd time is a charm..I am hoping so..At least this time I was put on anti-depressants before starting tx..It should help me handle it better..I am hoping so anyway..I wish you luck on your biopsy..I started my tx a few months after my biopsy..That was 2 yrs. ago..Goodness it seems longer than that..Keep in touch ok..We always like hearing from everyone even if it just to say hi ok?

Terry---My Mom & Dad were very supportive of each other- but had pretty good

health.....My one brother Had kidney disease from the time he was in Jr High-

but it wasn't really discovered what the problems was until he was in his

early 20's.. they supported hin & his wife for a few years(mid- 20s) then

they retired & went travelling a bit & lived a ways away from the rest of us

(actually only about 50-60 mi aways) My brother went on to have 2

transplants & died after the last one which was successful until one of the

intensive care nurses came to work with a slight cold- which turned into

pneumonia on my brother & he died from it Everyone was outta town & it was

my responsibility to contact all relatives to let them know as his wife had

requested me to do this(it was very hard on me @ that time!) I was only in

my early 20 @ that time. Then when my Dad died in '93 had to do same for my

mom as they had @ the time lived in a different state & I had to fly down &

take care of Dad & Mom -I lived live in Oregon -they were in Arizona_Yuma @

this time...my other rotten-greedy brother lived only about 1-1/2 hours from

them, but he would'nt bother or take time to come down--told me he was scared

& leery of being around older dying people(great S.O.B., HUH??!) Same

happened with my mom she stayed with bad brother for about 1-1/2 mo & then he

shipped her up here to Oregon, as he couldn't stand being around her (she'd

had stroke & even though they lived in same house, she didn't see him much.

but everytime she did see him she say " Hi Lee, how are you doing-feeling over

& over(my God she'd had stroke) he never bothered to take her to Dr or

hospital! She also got her back broken twice while she was @ his house & was

being starved & neglected -Only given chicken noodle soup for meals wnce on a

while she'd get tuna...meanwhile his ex-girlfriend & kids who were supposed

to be taking care of her(as he couldn't stand being around her- he was

afraind she might die in his house!) freely spent Mom's money + getting paid

$500 weekly from Mom's money were spending her money for their Rx's &

whatever else -Oh yeah it here money they bought groceries with up to

$400-500 weekly. So he flew her up to Oregon to stay with me & my husband-

with only $200 to last for 6 months or longer- he had control of her money &

got her to sign over just about all her financial to him including him as her

beneficiary.. When Mom first moved up here Ken & I only had a 1-1/2 bedroom

house--so we ended up having to buy a larger house (which we really couldn't

afford @ the time) -we still live in this house!!(payments are pretty high)

but we took her in & made as comfortable as could be & I took care of her

24/7 for over 2 years) really took a toll on my life(Hep-c)- after she'd

decided she was going to stay up here permanently- nasty brother drained all

of her accounts & hid them away in investments! After about 2 1/2 years she

had quite a few strokes - one after another & I could no longer take care of

her & she was placed in a nice 'care center' near mes & Ken.. fortunately her

SS & job pension paid for most of her care - but we were still having to pay

out of our pockets(very tough for us, as I was no longer able to bring in any

income - but we managed- Ken upgraded his job & we never went out any more-

not even for dinners) When mom Died last January my brother did notheing to

help out financially with costs & didn't even show up for her funeral which

was in San Diego(he only lived 20-25 miles from burial place) It cost us

another $3000 to have her transported down to SD so she could be buried next

to my dad- Ken couldn't go with me as we couldn't afford the price of 2

airline tickets -so I had to go by my lonesome!! Needless to say burying

all three of my immediate family was not an easy thing to do... A couple of

my friends who live in that area helped me quite a lot- one had been with me

for all 3 funerals - the other is another gal I met a few year back(she is a

liver transplantee) & I only get to see her every once in a blue moon but

talk via phone or emails...These two friends are just the greatest!!

Well that's the story of my close relatives!

Just had to vent this out Sorry for long-windedness<g>

Love

arlene

Hi Rocco

Welcome to the group.

If you don't like all of the emails you can go to the members page and set it for no emails. then when you want to catch up you can read them online without getting all of them at once. You can also choose to receive them in digest form, which will send about 25 posts at a time.
