What a nice sentiment Janet. Wish you were coming, what great success you've

had. But the good news is, you'll be at the next one! PhillyJude MGB 11-3-00

Since the 11th,almost all our conversations, posts, and activities have seemed

unimportant and an effort to struggle through. This is true nationally. Many

are searching to make reason out of their lives.

I saw 'Conan' last night, and every joke he said,he prefaced with saying how

inane and unimportant it was,and looked back at a couple of weeks ago and

said it felt as though it was a different lifetime.

People have found that really bad things _can_ happen to themselves, and it

has struck them with fear of their future, and they are changed.

You know, before this, people met with personal life changing events-breast

cancer,kidnapped children,terminal illness in their

family, rape, murder, tornados, etc. When they acted like nothing matters any

more,we told them the same insipid thing the mayor of New York says-go back

to normal,pretend it didn't happen.

For the last year and a half,I have been trying to be normal, with great

effort(which is very tiring).I have forced myself to look like I give a

flyin' hoot about what fabric a friend's couch will be in ,and will it match

the drapes?Another friend avoids me because I am so 'negative'-I just can't

care about her constant crisis, which amount to nothing more than should she

get that new purse that matches her shoes? What should she do?!

Have I been depressed,or was life put into clear perspective?Nationally,I

would say life has been brought into sharper focus, which will(sadly) dull as

the 'daily' returns.God will return to being our national mascot,no one

cares to know what he wants, anyway. And people will go back to pretending

their life isn't fading like grass.

Ecclesiastes 1

1

The words of the Teacher,[1] son of , king in Jerusalem:

2

" Meaningless! Meaningless! " says the Teacher. " Utterly meaningless!

Everything is meaningless. "

3

What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun?

4

Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.

5

The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.

6

The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes,

ever returning on its course.

7

All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the

streams come from, there they return again.

8

All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of

seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing.

9

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is

nothing new under the sun.

10

Is there anything of which one can say, " Look! This is something new " ? It

was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.

11

There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come

will not be remembered by those who follow.

12

I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem.

13

I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under

heaven. What a heavy burden God has laid on men!

14

I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are

meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

15

What is twisted cannot be straightened; what is lacking cannot be counted.

16

I thought to myself, " Look, I have grown and increased in wisdom more than

anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of

wisdom and knowledge. "

17

Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness

and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.

18

For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.

You're right, it's probably better to talk about something

unrelated to dwarfism on a dwarfism list serve. Something

more interesting like soap operas and flame wars. Nothing

" stupid " like architectural barriers, social prejudices or

medical issues.

That's the problem, many companies don't. And to make it

worse, many employers have not given it much thought. This

forum is great place (sometimes) to get ideas on how and who

to approach to get these plans in place. Of course if it

BORES you, we should probably shuck the conversation.

There are two categories of people: 1) those who have

something to say; 2) those who bitch about what people say.

I have a feeling you fall into category number two. If the

list bores you, say something enlightening. Entertain us.

Not to " pile it on " :-) but how can lp escape plans be stupid? There is NOTHING

stupid about a parent trying to protect their child.

We are not qualified to instill world peace on people who aren't interested so I

would rather focus on what we do know...keeping ourselves and our children safe

(animals too).

This is true. At the last company I worked for, as part of a building

renovation, they put up a big, blue lighted sign that said " Disabled

Rescue Location " near a stairwell (sort of) to the ground floor. During

the next fire drill, instead of leaving, I went and stood under the sign.

Guess what? After about a minute I was the only one left in the

building... still standing there waiting to be " rescued. "

P.S. Please pass this on to everyone in your address book, because it was

originally written by someone you've probably never met (or possibly even

heard of) and because, contrary to age-old wisdom, you CAN believe

everything you read. Therefore, it must be 100% true and should be taken

seriously. If you don't pass it on, bad things will happen to you -- like

you'll suddenly become a fan of pro wrestling (which is real, by the way),

or a dying girl scout from England who knows Fred Short too well will show

up on your doorstep and try to sell you a chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Geezes people, give the chain letter rebuke a rest!! So what if

one chain letter came on? Why can't we just give her some slack

and move on? I've been deleting a lot and not making a big deal

out of some of the other posts, but man...

In lieu of these arguments, maybe the quote " United we stand "

should be turned into " United we fall. "

Just to add a bit more on this doctor, Rob Rozbruch received his Ilizarov

training under Dr. Paley and Dr. Herzenberg. He is the Co-Director of the

Limb Lengthening program at the Hospital for Special Surgery and a Clinical

Instructor at Cornell. He is a member of the faculty at the course Dr.

Paley and Dr. Herzenberg hold every September which is where I met him one

year and then I actually visited his clinic when I was up in NY. You can

read more about him and his program at

Dear ,

Hi. My son is in prison for actions while under the influence of Prozac.

Even though he is locked up, I am

grateful that he was able to stop taking it and now

seems to be on an even keel. Where is your daughter?

And how is she?

You must be from England??? Sounds like it anyways.

My mother was from London.

Thanks for answering this. I think it is neat to get

I really liked Greg who was tragically killed in a crash a couple of years ago. My husband likes Jacques Villaneuve (sp?) and Montoya. He's been to several CART races really enjoys the sport.

Hi ,

Actually, I have suspected/known for a long time. The only other

person I knew that used the word " whilst " was my mother. Most of my

relative still live in and around London.

I also look forward to getting to know the rest of my family. I

hope everybody isn't to shy to share, the questions are quite

generic, so let's have some fun!
