Hi Freddie!

I am another newbie, seriously considering a CI. Would you mind

sharing how you chose your implant? Which brand?? Which ear to

implant? I'm here to ask questions galore I fear!! :) Anyway, I think

you've made a wise decision and I wish you lots of luck and hope to

hear how it all goes for you in this forum!!

Thanks,

Hi Fred,

I'm so glad to read your first message to the list and I hope it is

the first of many. This is a very exciting time for you and I know

you have had many questions as you have reached this point. It's good

to know that has helped you with your decision to have a

restoration of hearing with a cochlear implant. Soon you will

experience this for yourself. When you do, you will know why we are

so thrilled with the quality of life changes the CI has made for us.

Congratulations!

world, there has to be a couple married on each date of the year. We're going

Add you & your spouses 1st names only (NO LAST NAMES, PLEASE); year you were

Jenn, to answer your first question--Yes, my acid reflux was worse. I woke

up one night when I was prego and aspirated on it. I called my dr. at 2 a.m.

scared to death and he had me come in the next day. I ended up with a

respiratory infection as a result. Long story short--my gyno put me on prevacid

twice

a day and 1 zantac. I took 1 prevacid in the a.m. with the zantac and then

one prevacid at night. As the baby gets bigger, it will cause pressure on your

stomach and you may have more problems with the reflux. My little girl just

turned one and I have been taking only 1 prevacid a day since she was about 1

month old. Try not to eat too close to bedtime. As a side note, the night

that I woke up choking on acid, I had spaghetti for dinner and then peanut

butter crackers for a snack an hour before bedtime. I was asking for trouble!

Secondly, yes, I was hungrier than before I got pregnant. I literally ate

every 2 hours. I even got up (like clock work!) every night at 3 a.m. to have a

snack because the baby was knocking on my ribs begging for food! Just make

sure you eat plenty of protein. Typically, I had yogurt in the middle of

night. Other snacks included tons of cheddar cheese, mini ham and swiss rolls

that

I made and couldn't get enough of, peanut butter by the spoonful, spinach

dip, chicken salad on crackers, crab dip on crackers, chewy granola bars, and

yes, some junk food that the baby just had to have. Tee Hee!!!!!

I would be happy to answer any other questions that you might have. Best

wishes, Alisha Ackerman MGB 7/31/02 Dr. Rutledge

Hi there. I'm Pam and I live in Pocatello, Idaho. What part of Idaho are you from? There is a nurse practitioner in Pocatello that does fills. Her name is Rice at Health and Wellness Center. I don't have access to her phone # right now. I'll have to find it and post it. Good luck on your journey.

Hi! I'm not sure how this "chat"thing works, but I'll give it a try.

Verline G. and I are from Idaho and we had our surgery on 2-17-06. Does anyone know who does the fills in ID, OR, or WA? There is only one center that is in Boise ID and they will not do fills if they did not place the band.

We are already tired of the clear fluids (and liquids in liquids out) so are slowly going to introduce so full liquids this week.

Our stay in Mexcali was wonderful! We were treated like queens! Thanx again to all the staff!

What a way to hopefully put this controversial issue to rest: You had to

endure all of this " hell " bc your parents bought into of societies' myopic view

of people w/ dwarfism which was undoubtedly shaped by certain dwarfs who by

living some " self fullilling prophecy " , choose these demeaning professions.

The fact that you had such a sense of self to break free from what your

parents bestowed upon you not only says a lot about your character, but it

defeats the argument that we have no other choice. We can be whatever we choose

to be. As long as we have self respect, there are no limits.

Deb

Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity setting on your CI or do you have

auto-sensitivity. I have used my auto-sentitivity setting at a college football

game and have been amazed at how it cuts out so much of the crowd noise but I am

able to hear the public address announcer and my hubby clear as a bell.

Could you maybe give us a little more info about what programs/setting you are

using and maybe we can help.

It does raise your cholesterol levels, BUT it raises the good so much that

on my last bloodwork, I had THE LOWEST risk, in fact it was even lower than

the lowest value on there.

My Endro was quite impressed, AND I'm 55.

This is an interesting OT and may one day even affect Coconut Oil.

If you really want to be " afraid " do some conventional and especially

alternative research on....

" Codex Alimentarius "
