Guest guest
Hello all, Well, I do love being on forums, which is , Nucleus22CI, one other forum, and Cochlear Nucleus forum (which is from <A HREF= " www.cochlear.com " >www.cochlear.com</A> so you won't confuse 'who is that?' LOL)and it does make me learn about CI alot, but hal, I think you was too late because I already done the science fair project last month and there will be no sciecne fair in high school next year, dang. I don't know why! =-P I think that the topic is good and I wished that I could add to the project, but too late. =-( But thanks, anyway! =-\ Pace Kentucky Implant Nucleus 22 on April 1994 Hook up around May and June 1994 Worn Spectra since 1994 and stopped in 2003. Guest guest
Hal, That is good news, indeed! You don't realize that there are plenty of us out there who had to struggle for a long time to get to a point like this. So my friend, patience, patience & more patience. Guest guest
Thanks Hal! I had a great time. I remember that I didn't talked a lot last time. It was my first day of hook-up and my brain was screwing up trying to listen. This time, I'm glad that I'm making progess. I also had my mouth widely grinned about Alice's progress after bilateral hook-up. She's hearing much better than before. Last time, she kept telling us to repeat what we're saying. Now, she's acting like a normal hearing person. That's great for you to listen with your wife in noisy resturant! and I had same thing in noisy resturant in Dallas and we were playing around with our processors, but no success. Now you told me about it, so we're waiting for that to happen. Thanks Alice for the wonderful lasagna! Hopefully, we'll do that again on my next trip. Should we call it, " Greg's BTE Day! Guest guest
Hi! I'm the guy who mentioned the finger cots. I hesitate to advise you on poking holes in them as I am not sure what to tell you. I poked holes in mine, but only to get the ear mold tube through. That isn't affected by sweat. I guess you will have to experiment some and see what works and what does not. I have sometimes heard crackles from the things moving against the microphone but it didn't bother me. I'd rather have my hearing aids working with crackles than shorted-out from persperation! You COULD leave the cots on while you are being active, and take them off your instrument after you've showered and dried your hair That would be half a solution. Once I get further into the candiadcy process, I'll get to look at the various brands and models of CIs and be better able to advise on this. Pete > I worked up a sweat today playing tennis. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen I had both hips replaced in 2001. Staples came out about 12 days after each surgery and I don't recall any drainage. Maybe this warrants a call to the doctor. Sally
Guest guest
I would recommend that you definately contact your surgeon. Watch the area, keep it clean and dry. Watch for any signs of infection, ..elevated temperature, feeling flu like, achy, etc. Contact your doc first thing in the morning. Marilyn (no subject) Hi!I am new to the group - 22 days post op from a THR at age 50. I had my surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery in NY. Today, I have some drainage from the incision - pink fluid - for the first time that I am aware of. Does anybody know if this is something to be concerned about? Guest guest
WOW! I'm 19 days Post op and the same thing happen to me today! WEird! Ok I called I paged the doctor this morning and I have to go in tomorrow to have the staples removed (only one day early). He said the staples can cause irritation after the wound heals and that is the reason for the drainage, they will remove staples and place me on a antibotic for good measure. CALL DOCTOR! Guest guest
I have had several ops, including a Hip replacement and can't remember getting a pink discharge. I would advise you to either go and visit your doctor, or ring your consultant. It may well be nothing but it never hurts to get it checked, because if it serious (fingers crossed its not) the sooner they know about the sooner they can fix it. Guest guest
Hal !! Happy anniversary. What a way to celebrate it. I can't imagine a better way than to go back to school after a nice hot summer vacation and sit listening to a boring meeting for three hours. <smile> Congratulations on your CI moment. Guest guest
Hi MistyEyed59, You have definitely come to the right place. Just read all the messages from the new CPhT's who are receiving their certificates in the mail daily. Have you taken the exam once already? What specific areas are concerning you right now? Having to study " everything " all at once is definitely overwhelming. Pick one or two topics at time that you don't understand. Ask as many questions as you need to. The only dumb question is the one that isn't asked. And as my chemistry professor like to tell us " It's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease. " Everyone one here is more than generous with their time and area-specific knowledge of pharmacy. Good luck and welcome!! Guest guest
Jeanetta I am currently working with Walgreens in the pharmacy. Just received my registration from the state of SC. So I am now able to get my hands into more action. The Hospital Math really seems to be my biggest problem. I know practice makes perfect and I am working on it daily. I did purchase a CD to help also. Pharmacy Technician is the study guide book endorsed by the APA Basic Pharmacy and Pharmacology, along with the work book. Thanks so very much for the words of encouragement. This is the first job I have had in years that I am actually excited to have. Have been reading the previous post and now know most feel overwhelmed at first. So, its onwards and upwards for me. This certification test won't get me. I will achieve the skills and pass it on the first attempt with you guy's help and a lot of will power and studying on my part. Thanks Mistieyed59
Guest guest
Dear Mistieyed! You can try Try Donna from S.C at itsmedwhee2@... Which is itsmedwhee2cs (DOT) com (no space between the period or dot or . and the " com " ) She has recently posted that she passed. You are not alone. First you should download or print all that I sent you. And Keep it on file. They are also in the file section but they are the most important ones. You should try to study out of your books. Which ones did you get? Then when you have a question post it here. But I would give it a try first. Are you currently working as a tech or trainnee or are you in school or are you doing this with out any previous exp or info? You will need to study every day and be patient. Learning is a process built on a foundation of baby steps. Go through the Tutorials and the archived mesagesof discussion tutorials. What area are you weak in? Be sure to take the practice exam AFTER you have studied a bit and still have time to study allthat you missed onthe practice exam at the PTCB site www.ptcb.org I hope this helped you. This site has great success helping people with all types of a background: experienced, schooled, OJT training, in OJT and NO experience at all etc. I KNOW with perseverence you will make it! I will be right here for you! Guest guest
Dear Mistieyed, Please be sure to go back and read the recent emails from those who have recently posted about their passing. You will see that they all come from different backgrounds from no exp to very experienced. This should be a positive for you that you have made the right decision by joining this group. Good Luck, Jeanetta Mastron Pharm Tech Educator Founder/Owner of this site.
