My 2-year-old has chicken pox, I'm pretty sure. I also have a 6-year-old and a

4-year-old who have had the vaccine. (we have stopped since then) Is it just 1

vaccine at a year? Or a booster later on? I thought maybe it was a booster

around 4-6 years old. So, will my 6 and 4-year-old get the pox also?

A lot of people where I live do not vaccinate and I want to call other mothers I

know and tell them so they can expose their children, but at the same time I do

hesitate because I heard a story once where in UT a bunch of moms got into

trouble for having " chicken pox parties " because of child endangerment.

If anybody has tips on what to do for comfort for my toddler, I would appreciate

it.

I also have a 9-month-old baby, full time breastfed. Do you think she will get

it? I had the pox when I was little. Will she get the immunity from me?

Thanks so much,

Adelyn :)

Try not to have your baby get chicken pox just yet if you can help it. The other

kids....let them all hang out. The ones vaxed might not get it and if they do-

terrific- then they don't have to get boosters until they are with a walker.

What I hope is that you will maybe think about not getting their booster shots.

If you search here- Sheri had a great post on homeopathic medicines to help out.

Yes- very interesting to find out.

BTW- please post it in safer places -such as here and if you belong to holistic

moms- call the head member. If you belong to natural groups- post there. I would

keep it quiet from vicious pro-vaxers- you don't need them knocking at your door

telling you what injustice (or something stupid like that) you are doing to the

community.

You could call the other mothers and see if they want to visit, don't even

mention the words pox party, just say you'll leave it up to them if they visit

or not and keep it under your hats. Don't go rushing off to dr's at first

symptom. Hard to know who will get it and who won't. The vaccine doesn't work,

so they may or may not. If they don't, it won't be because of the vaccine.

In the days before the CP vax, only 2 in my family got chicken pox, me and my

Dad. I was 2yrs old, younger brother was 2mths old & BF & pox free. None of my

siblings got it. With my own kids, they were 8 mths and 29 mths and their Dad

got it too! We were in military housing so all families had little kids and none

of us ever worried, except me; about DS1only -  getting mumps due to prior vax

injury and the possibility of being given gammaglobulin as threatened by dr.

Don't fret if the baby gets it, just keep BF.

Best wishes for successful REAL immunisation!!

Well we just had a chicken pox epidemic here.

I know a family of six children, including the two premie twins that all got the

c/pox. The premie twins got it first. They all recovered, I have seen them

with my own eyes.

Another family the youngest four all got it at the same time, over a period of a

few weeks. They are all fine.

Another family - the two youngest got it at the same time, 2 and six months old.

and goodness knows how many other families I know got it.

In fact it is still going on, people just accept c/pox as a fact of life here.

I just dont get it that all the children in the same family where all 'toxic' at

the same time and manifested the same symptoms.

Still very sceptical on this as I have seen whole familes go down at the same

time, different ages aswell.

Hi

You seem to not have been told - the chickenpox vaccines does NOT

give immunity to chickenpox. Chickenpox is injected in and your

children have a chronic case of chickenpox on a deeper level and

that's why don't get an acute case of chickenpox. And many many

children get chickenpox that is obvious from the vaccine and pass it to others

Actually, a whole family being equally toxic isn't as far fetched as

strangers being equally toxic... the reason is that families tend to

all eat the same food, drink the same water (or sodas or whatever

their norm is), exercise about the same, sleep about the same amount,

see about the same amount of sunshine, etc. Their lifestyles are very

similar, so they are similar in health, too.

No, chicken pox is not fun, but it is a temporary illness. I would much prefer

my daughter got it randomly than got any vaccines.

If you are pro-vaccine, why are you here? This list is for alternative

vaccination -- i.e. selective or no vaccination. No one on this list is

pro-vaccine. If you are questioning your choice and curious about information,

please ask questions. But you will not change anyone's mind here to accept

vaccination.

I think this is a fine example of how written words can be misunderstood,  You

just don't have the inflection and tone that you do when you speak with someone

in person!  Since, you have come here to learn, I hope that you will take the

good advice which is to check out the websites that you were given. Read a few

things.  if you have a question, then please do ask it here but ultimately if

you want to make an informed decision about vaccinations, you will have to dig

in and open yourself to seeing things differently perhaps.  If you do start to

doubt your earlier choice to vaccinate, you can deal with that here as well.

There are many who changed their minds and I am sure that this is a hard thing

to do, to realize in your heart that you should have educated yourself.  Many

come here after their children are vaccine injured unfortunately.  It is really

hard to know how any child might have been without vaccines since they start

them at birth.  You just never know how they might have been without them.

Maybe they would be healthier and so vibrant that others comment on it.  I am a

mother of 5 ages 23-4 and they are unvaccinated so I have a lot of years of

living it and I have the outcome that I wanted.  Healthy kids that grow into

healthy adults who are physically and mentally healthy!  I'm so glad that I

learned what I did 25 years ago that caused me to choose not to vaccinate.

Even before the internet, I w

as able to read enough to convince me!  So get to reading Mama and come back

with your fears, doubts, questions.  We'll really are a nice group though

passionate about the dangers of vaccines and rightly so.

That's a lie she told you. The CP vax is notorious for being ineffective.

disease (if you believe the germ theory), antibodies could be

mobilized according to their theory

I don't know otherwise

why?

Yes, there is a possibility that she could get chicken pox.

> My daughter was vaccinated with chicken pox when she was 15 months old. Now

that I know vaccines don't give immunity to disease, I was wondering if it's

still possible for her to get chicken pox around people with shingles or chicken

pox? I'm hoping she will because I'm worried she might get shingles when she is

older. I do remember getting chicken pox when I was 6 or 7 years old. I had it

bad but it wasn't a horrible experience.

Lynn,

One thing to keep in mind is that Valtrex at 500 mg daily is remarkably

efficacious for preventing varicella zoster (herpes zoster, VZV) infections

(shingles, chicken pox). Even in people with normal immune systems, the vaccine

is far less effective.

While Valtrex is very safe and effective, VZV infections in CLL patietns are

almost always going to be reactivation and not primary infection, and chances

are that eventhough you do not remember developing the chicken pox, you have

been infected with VZV.

Thus, your chances of running into problems from an outbreak elsewhere in your

community are extremely small, but it taking Valtrex affords you peace of mind,

then it is definitely worthwhile.

non-vaccinating. Currently, there are a number of cases of chicken pox there,

increasing dramatically. I have had shingles before (and also had the vaccine

after my dx, unfortunately.) I was not aware of having had chicken pox as a

child, but must have had them as I got my shingles before my vaccine. All that

said, should I start taking valtrex before going back to this herpes zoster

disaster? (liked the sound of that)

remember we're not supposed to give aspirin anymore (Reye's) but I

won't recommend giving Tylenol. Also they are doing Oatmeal baths and

using Calamine lotion (which I know nothing about). Any pointers

please? Thanks! - Arlynn

When my kids got chickenpox, the only treatment we did were oatmeal baths and

calamine lotion. I later heard someone say that calamine lotion was

suppressive. I never researched that to see if it was true, since we'll never

have to deal with chickenpox again. But you might want to look into that.

I am still on the look out for chickenpox (and measles and mumps!) so if anyone knows of anyone willing to pass them my way that would be good. Also looking to talk with people who have been injured or who have family members who have been vaccine injured as part of the documentary I am working on.

It's probably going around with the vaxed kids because they got the vaccine and are spreading that.

My older three all got it within two weeks of each other. The only thing I used was homeopathic Rhus Tox. It did a great job with the itching. Other homeopathics could work, too, but that's what I used.

My youngest hasn't had it yet and has been telling me for about a year how he needs to soon. All of a sudden he is worried because someone in his school was exposed. My son is convinced the kid will come down with it and he's all worried now. Not sure why but I told him to have the kid lick him or cough on him. Haha--he was horrified.

Hi ,I'm in Massachusetts, too! We live in Milford and don't know anybody around here that doesn't vax. What town do you live in? I have a 3 year old and 21 month old who I would like to expose to chicken pox. My only question, and maybe Sheri can answer this, I'm 27 weeks pregnant, should I wait until the baby is born and a little older before bringing the virus around intentionally?Anyway, the only place I have ever seen people looking to have "chicken pox parties" is on Mothering.com If you join, go into the community, find your tribe and maybe you will have some luck there. But it would be nice to know a family that doesn't vaccinate...MeghanSent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®From: "O" <mardigan33@...>Sender: Vaccinations Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2010 00:34:44 -0000<Vaccinations >Reply Vaccinations Subject: Chicken Pox My children (ages 4 and 9) have each had one dose of Varivax when they were a year old. I have declined any additional doses. I do not want them to catch chicken pox as adults. If I intentionally expose them to a child with wild chicken pox, would they have a good chance of becoming infected since so many years have elapsed since the vaccine? Also, any ideas on how to find families with children with active infections?
