Through Carbon Based he conducted a Urine Organic Analysis, the most insightful results I have had from anywhere. Working with him has been amazing! It has completely taken the guess work out of what supplements and how much to give my daughter. His recommendations are based on decades of research and my daughters own personal metabolic profile. It is so refreshing to work with someone who doesn't need to guess. Following his supplement recommendations eliminated the background partial seizure activity that my daughter had, it took away her 'foggyness'. Twice, for reasons of establishing ketosis I had to back off all supplements so we could account for her diet. Both times I noticed digressions in her alertness, which returned to normal once her regiment was reinstated. I know my latest entry focused on the Centre, but if read my first paragraph I mention Mark's help. It seems seizure relief comes piece by piece and for us Mark Schauss was a KEY piece. Read his web page www.carbonbased.com Email him in person. You WILL NOT be disappointed. Barb

The detoxification helps remove mercury and other toxins which would be helpful. Unfortunately,Dr.Carley's medical license was suspended in July 2003. Her suspension was solely based on her alleged " psychological impairment " as a matter of fact the hearing panel refused to allow any testimony into the record regarding her actual therapy or resuls thereof. I personally spoke to at least 4 parents of young children with various degrees of disability ranging from full autism through autism spectrum disorders aspergers syndrome etc When I tried to testify to these results, they were not allowed into the record when Dr.Carley attempted to ask me about them. Subsequetly Dr,Carley's license was revoked when she did not seek what she felt would have been forced psychiatric drugging to try to regain her license. Since these therapies do not require a prescription, she may still be able to help. She does nutritional consutations by phone if you cannot travel to see her. Everyone wants to pussyfoot around the fact that Mark lied. What is the deal with everyone, are you all mesmorized by Mark the magnificant or what? ----- Original Message ----- From: Mike Mchugh Sent: Sunday, November 14, 2004 3:07 PM Subject: [ ] Use Outlook Express feature If anyone is thinking of leaving this group due to the recent string of unpleasant messages please consider some alternatives... If you use Outlook Express to read your e-mail you go across the top tool bar to the word " Tools " then bring the window down to " message rules " then take it to the right and you will see the words " block sender " . Using this tool you can block the sender of offending messages and still continue to receive the rest of the messages that come through this generally informative, helpful, and supportive list-serve. Another option if you do not use Outlook Express is to go to this groups main page on and reconfigure your membership in the group. You can set your mail options to " No Mail " that way you can just visit the group site everyday as time allows and read only the messages you choose to read by scanning through the " Subject " and " Sender " list. I hope this helps and keeps folks from leaving. If it were not for this group my son and many others would still be having many seizures every day. There are ideas here that can help everyone but we all are responsible for doing our own research and making the correct calls for our children and ourselves. I am sorry to hear about your Mothers recent difficulties. Depakote and other AED's ( anti-epileptic drugs) sadly cannot always guarantee an end to seizures. Some folks have to try several AED's before they find one that works for them, others never find an AED that can control their seizures, other find a cocktail of various AED's works best, there are people using diet, neuro-feedback, homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, nutritional supplements, and other ways to find control over seizure disorders. You will find people with experience in all of these on this group. You may want to consider asking around for recommendations for a better neurologist in your area for your Mother and then taking her to him/her for a second opinion. Perhaps she will need to try a drug other than depakote. You may want to do some reading to better be prepared to ask questions and help your Mom too. Some excellent books to start with are - " Treating Epilepsy Naturally " , " Dr. Atkins Vita-Nutrient Solution " , " What To Do About Your Brain Injured Child " , " and the Epilepsy Workbook from the s Reiter Epilepsy Center. . These are some I found most helpful. They are all available second hand on Amazon.com and most can be gotten through your libraries inter loan program. Don Vance [ ] Supplements-costs-and credibility Hi List, As we have seen the fight over a supplement which has built in a financial incentive for some of its distributors to promote its use, even when a highly regarded scientific researcher such as Mark Schauss,PhD who operates a testing laboratory and is steeped in the alternative medical perspective and that of a parent-consumer has raised a very serious and legitimate objection to the formula promoted. When the defenders of an economic interest begin to get hysterical and abusive in their condemnation of theur critics, it is a good sign that there is very little support for their position and claims. I am all for supplements, but please don't rely on them as your only source of the good nutrients. And if cost becomes a factor as it is for many of you, buy the right foods-hopefully organic, first then the supplement. arnold
