Guest guest
Thanks, I agree, her teacher was quick to tell me how severe she thought my daughter was yesterday. I am pissed off now instead of sad. Ruby is so smart and it didn't show yesterday at all! But today she woke up asking for her teacher, so even though she had a horrible time, she wants to go back. Go figure. I do want to make her a visual schedule. She has language, although she speaks like a caveman. I do think a visual schedule will help with anxiety issues. If she knows what her day is going to be. Thanks so much. > > > > My daughter had her first day of junior kindergarten today. She is in a self contained class with about 6 other asd kids. I met the other kids today and my daughter was the most severe. Mine had a huge tantrum going in simply because we asked her to walk into the school rather than being carried. She's 4.5 and has completed 48 rounds of AC chelation with 2 years of biomeds on top of that. > > > > None on the kids in her class are on any special diet and none of them do biomeds. In fact I am one of the only people in this city doing this stuff and everywhere I go my kid seems to be the worst one. When do I just give this stuff up? I thought being so close to 50 rounds she would be different but not much has changed. There is more language and her motor skills are amazing. But her cognition is horrible. > > > > Her teacher said all she did was a high pitched scream all morning when any demands were put on her. She disrupted the other kids and was in the hallway on the floor screaming when I got there. Her teacher told me she thinks my daughter has severe autism, not moderate. At home my daughter is a completely different kid. So, now I'm not sure if she can go to school at all. We are going to try, but her IEP will have to be extremely light and she may not be able to do the school thing. > > > > I thought she was doing well and then she starts school and I see the other kids. One little boy came up to me to show me the necklace he made. I don't understand why every single kid in her class were all high functioning with not a single biomed. I feel like either driving off a bridge or quitting all of this stuff and just accepting that this is how life is going to be. > > > > At 48 rounds, do I stop now? Guest guest
> I really wonder why our kids seem to be worse off than the nonbiomed kids sometimes? ===my opinion...latency does have its purposes...if you can't beat it, tuck it away until you can & bodies have a billion hidey holes to use. Not really noticeable until a body hits its tipping point, at which point, well...using the weapons you get to fight the crapola is usually not fun - it is a battle, imho...experience keeps telling me it is worth it. elizabeth
Guest guest
I am reading yours and Irene's posts about supplement tolerance with great interest. My son is on almost the same supplement protocol as Irene and has the same intolerances your children do: niacinamide, GSE, curcumin, and synthetic B vitamins. Too bad ARI doesn't have an " effective supplement " list that is like their effective treatment list. Maybe we should encourage them to do some kind of poll! > > > > > > > > > > My daughter had her first day of junior kindergarten today. She is in a self contained class with about 6 other asd kids. Guest guest
Sounds like today might be better. A visual schedule is a great idea. A couple of the kids I work with demonstrated at age 5 that they could tell time. One recognized 5:00 as when I left (i.e. when he could have the TV back on for I-Carly) and 5:30 as whe his father would pick him up from the sitters or be home. He sets the timer on the stove and loves to watch it and count down along with it (sometimes for a whole 5 minutes!). He recognizes both digital and analog clock times for hour and half hour. Another recently revealed that he knows that Jeopardy (one of his favorite shows, he hums the theme song) comes on at 6:00. (6 is now his favorite number). I think he only knows digital so far. Consider putting a picture of a clock (which ever she's most familiar with or what they have at school) showing the time you pick her up and a picture of you so she can understand when she can expect to see you. Guest guest
Maybe it's a phenol intolerance? most kids with phenol intolerance can't handle b vitamins well. GSE is a definite issue and so is curcumin (heavy spice - big time phenol/salicylate). Just a thought.. ________________________________ From: homewithb <elizabethsoliday@...> Sent: Thursday, September 3, 2009 11:19:43 AM Subject: [ ] Re: First Day of School  I am reading yours and Irene's posts about supplement tolerance with great interest. Guest guest
Good point, . I haven't found (or understood) a lot of info on WHY people have phenol intolerance, therefore it is hard to decide whether it is worth getting something like No-fenol just in order to tolerate phenols. > > > > > > > > > > > > My daughter had her first day of junior kindergarten today. Guest guest
You are right. Phenols are a huge issue. We can get away with giving No Phenol with certain things like OLE and milk thistle and they are tolerated, but no amount of No Phenol helps with GSE, curcumin and the b vites - there may be other issues afoot too with these supps besides phenols, such as slow Phase I etc, for example with GSE. B vites cause yeast to go nuts in our son too. Irene > > > > > > > > > > > > My daughter had her first day of junior kindergarten today. She is in a self contained class with about 6 other asd kids. Guest guest
Interesting cause my son does okay with OLE and milk thistle without any No-fenol, but cannot tolerate the others. I am not sure about whether his tolerance of synthetic Vit b complex has improved, but we did give synthetic B6 in the last couple months and that seems okay. Our B complex is a whole foods version that is well tolerated. I have often wondered if the reactions to niacinamide and curcumin are closely related, almost like curcumin causes a niacin flush reaction too. I think you are along the right lines when you state a slow phase I may be involved. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > My daughter had her first day of junior kindergarten today. Guest guest
No Fenol will help digest vegetable fiber, which helps with phenols, but most kids will also need to restrict phenols from their diet as well. No Fenol helps, but it's not a magic bullet, you need to follow a phenol-restricted diet like Feingold too. And yes, it's worth it. For my kid, a phenol infraction is ten times worse than a gluten infraction. We stay far, far away from phenols. Otherwise, life is miserable!
