ear infections

Hi Amy,

When my youngest child was 7 months old she got her first ear infection. I

spent several days and nights holding her upright in the rocker (to

facilitate drainage of the eustachian tubes). I also gave her echinacea

tincture - I squirted it in her mouth (she was too young to object). She

appeared over it within 2 or 3 days - which is usually how long it takes for

an antibiotic to kick in. She was also nursing frequently, which probably

helped also.

-could be teeth too...my son would sometimes pull on his ears when he

was teething...he didnt have an infection at the time.

ear etc no fever. i went and got mullein with hypercuium. what do you ladies

-In a child the eustachian tubes are often horizontal...and in an ear

infection they are usually closed tight and not draining...hence the

infection. But having said that it doesnt hurt to do so...

Antibiotics aren't the answer for babies or adults

I'd go for the candling before antibiotics although there is one person who

has been on this list who is an otologist and is dead set against them

(maybe especiallyf or children)

Haven't formally introduced myself yet but would like to respond to this

question. I just finished a professional ear candling course and use candling

on my family. When my daughter had an ear infection recently I candled her ears

and used an anti-fungal, anti-bacterial essential oil externally around her ear.

Much to her relief. Some of the controversy with candling comes from incorrect

claims of what it accomplishes. It brings soothing comfort to the ear canal and

sinuses in a painless and relaxing way. That in itself is beneficial. it was a

journey for me to be comfortable with ear candling - there are bad candles and

bad information available. I am anzxious to read more about any connection

between ear infections and vaccines as that has been a problem for my daughter

and it never occurred to me that there is a connection.

children you will hear that most do NOT ever have an ear infection. When

working in Peds practice I noticed the all followed vaccines but didn't

think too much about it back then.

Now doctors think it is normal and its not. Vaccines are very disturbing

to the immune system and hence illness after - depends on childs weakness

where. From a homoepathic perspective (which you'll hear a lot from me),

there is a huge disturbance of the vital force and the disturbance has to

escape and the vital force uses symptoms (again where you are weak) to get

rid of the disturbance.

I have heard many times over the years about ear

candling and have wanted to try it as my children seem

to have inherited my narrow eustachian tubes and often

suffer from fluid buildup without actually triggering

infections. Could you explain a little about it?

a, my son got ear infections after the vax, all my kids did.

I put him on a non diary diet and never had another ear infection.

You have to be sure to remove all traces of dairy.

We actually had to take out all dairy (did you know

there is casein in some tuna fish?) AND wheat before

they went away. Now he can tolerate those foods in

moderation. Thanks.

I am so excited about the book coming out. My daughter is on a a504 plan

and is working great on the most part for elementary. She is starting 7th

grade next year. I had a meeting with the 504 team and they want more

information then she will be absent quite a bit. Over all does fine

in school (academically) she is in the GATE program but is absent on the

average once to twice a week. The team asked me for more information and

more ideas to put into her plan. I don't know what JR High is like except I

will now have six teachers to deal with instead of one. Do you have any

thought on what I should tell the team. The only idea I had was the school

makes you make up all miss classes before or after school. I told them

is very low on energy and she stays home to sleep so making her day

longer to make up missed work wasn't an option. They told me to come up

with an idea to where she could make up the class that fits into her

schedule. I have no clue! Help I am at a lost. I have another appt in

February and I am suppose to come with what I want in the plan. They are

going to come with what they think should be in the plan and we can then

together make it.
