Yes, he did do a culture and so far I have only been on drops. I will

suggest oral antibiotics to him when I see him tomorrow (I am a nurse

and he does listen to what I have to say). As for your other

question, no, my ear does not hurt. I have always had numerous ear

infections that usually clear up in a few days, which is why this is

scaring me. I was 30 when I was diagnosed with the first c-toma and

have since undergone a radical mastoidectomy with a CWD. That ear is

actually doing quite well. I have never had any drainage or

infections in that ear since the second c-toma was removed in 2000.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi Cheryl

Has anybody suggested the possibility of antibiotic resistance. I think that

is a real possiblity if you have been treated heavily with antibiotics in

the past. You probably know better than me but once resitance starts then it

can be swiftly passed on to other bacteria and other kinds of antibiotics

and their continued usage might only make the resistance stronger.

It happened to me. Duirng childhood I was treated for earaches for a number

of years with weekly penicillin injections. After that antibiotics never

seemed to work at all and I had glue ear and constant drainage for decades.

I'd had some surgeries in the past but it only cleared when I had more

radical open ear surgeries in recent years.

I could be wrong but I thought that topical antibiotics, if they can be

applied tothe source of infection directly, should be more effective than

oral antibiotics.

My son's ear infetion was supposely caused by swimming......he had a bad case of

My doc also told me that too much wheat can cause ear infections.

Coconut Oil

Subject: ear infections

Anyone know about treating ear infections with coconut oil? My friend

is in a lot of pain. Dr. Fifie mentioned it in his book, but not how

to treat

Whatever you do, don't put coconut oil in your ear. I did that and

had to get it suctioned out because it didn't act like olive oil and

stay liquid. I was temporarily deaf because it blocked my ear completely.

I have put coconut oil in my ears many times with no problem. Human

body temperature keeps it liquid. If I ventured out into the cold

without my hat and ear protection, it might turn solid, but a nice

soak in a hot bath with my ears under water would cure that problem

without needing to resort to doctors or hospitals.

Yes, ear infection can be cured by coconut oil. I did

it and it really worked fast. I put three small

drops, using dropper on cotton buds and swabbed my

inner ear with it. If the infection is more serious,

put drops of coconut oil directly into the ear.

Well I must have really cold inner ears. My recent experience

happened when the weather was really warm. And the doctors couldn't

remove it even using warm water squirted into the ear (hence the

suctioning was used with more success).

I am still having some problems with pain in the ear.

It's really a mystery that it wouldn't be liquid in your ear since

coconut oil melts at anything above 76 degrees. It must have been a

problem with wax or something else that would have happened no matter

what you put in your ear. For your ear canal to be cold enough to

solidify coconut oil, you would have to be dead.

Anyway, sorry for what happened to you, and that you're still in pain.

No too throw more oil to the fire.. :)

VCO melts once it touches the skin... At normal body temperature it must melt

unless it is not VCO... 76 def Fahrenheit (24 Celsius) the melting point of VCO

or almost any CO is far less than a living human body's temperature, around 96

deg F or 37 Celsius.

We can safely conclude that either:

1) it was not VCO

2) or maybe the VCO provoked some reactions with something that was already in

the ear... because VCO will not remain solid in the body or on it...

My first introduction in the world of " the Doctor is NOT alway

right, " came when My grandma bought me a book called Healing

childhood earinfections. By this time Caden had had a constant

earinfection for 6 months and 3 cycles of antibiotics ( by cycles I

mean amoxicillina, augmentin, onmicef continously repeated) with a

zithromax thrown in at the end and ear tubes at 10 months which did

NOTHING!!!!!!!

After reading the book, which recomends taking 10 foods out of you

child diet ( milk, wheat, corn, rice and I cant remember what else)

all at the same time.....there was nothing else left to eat??? SO I

took out milk. Within 1 week of being milk free, he no longer had an

earinfection and has not had one since :-)

We kept him off milk for a year and he is now back one and seems to

be doing fine.

It is a great book with many different options other that the

horrible antibiotcs that the Drs give out like candy.

My unvaxed daughter has never had an ear infection, so I've never had

to deal with one, but here are some articles:

Thanks for sharing that!

I'll resend another great article

Many times the eardrums are red and that does NOT mean an infection -

with crying the eardrums can get red (and how many babies cry at the

doctor's office - they know the dangers there!)

And giving antibiotics or not giving antibiotics seems to make no difference

And just read an article showing ear infections often caused by

viruses - so antibiotics wouldnl't help there (that is if you even

believe viruses can 'cause' anything - it may be that viruses are

there to do a job)

my un-vax BF son got his 1st EI at 11 mo. He then got another at 15 and another

at 18. He was BFeed till 13 1/2 mo. We did have to do tubes at 26 mo. due to

hearing loss due to fluid in his eusttian tubes for so long. They wanted to do

them sooner and drug my feet changing his diet taking him off all dairy. We had

him goig to the chiro since he was 4 days old. So the chiro thing did not keep

EI at bay as he still got them maybe he would have gotten more if he was not

going. I also had him allergy tested.

Hi

Poor baby

Not every unvaxed child is ear infection free but certainly most do

not get ear infections.

We do come into this world inheriting certain disturbances and acquire others.

Homeopathic treatment could help to look at this at a deeper level.

Well, he may not have even had an ear infection - red ear drum does

not mean infection

And it has been found that treatment is rarely needed - they go away

on their own

And that is probably why you have had this rebound effect.

Ever since I stopped taking Statins my ears have leaked at night time clear fluid - they then become incredibly itchy and I scratch them and sometimes they bleed as well. I did a test which showed positive with my diabetic friends clinitest kit.Anyway last Monday night this flared up so badly that one ear-drum was so inflamed that it closed then perforated, the other has done the same and my face is numb on either side and I look as if I have mumps. I was so ill, the consultant nurse sent me for blood tests on Tuesday - I passed out twice while they took the test and they had to phone my husband to collect me from the clinic. The surgery phoned on Wednesday to say they have to be repeated as the results are not credible?I was put on antibiotics and the Dr put me on very strong painkillers - he said that he had never seen or heard anything like it - and if he hadn't seen it for himself would

not have believed it! Is this my Statins - I don't know what to think or expect anymore and am sick to death of being ill.Help Pamela
