I don't know how but deep tissue massage works wonders for me. My therapist

says it reduces inflammation at the site. The down side is it doesn't last

more than a few days. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the skill and talent

of the massage therapist. Unfortunately it isn't usually covered by

insurance, at least not for long, and it can get very expensive. I'd do it

3 times a week if I could.

Best wishes, Cheri

I couldn't survive w/o my weekly massage. My therapist is very gentle, but

she still recommends drinking lots of water for the 24 hrs following the

massage. I am going to ask her your question. I'll let you know after

Thursday what she says.

Depending on what stage he was diagnosed as (stage1 -4) will determine

how well he will do in treatment. (it also depends what KIND of lung

cancer)....IRESSA has been showing a LOT of promise for lung cancer

patients and it is not as toxic as other chemotherapies....research as

much as you can....Best wishes to you and your dad....

Welcome to all the new members...This group has really grown fast! It's fabulous...

I wanted to add that I have noticed some nausea off and on since starting Lexapro...But for me...anything that discourages me to eat is a good thing! LOL

Hi, my name is , and I have been on Celexa for a year and a half with varying results. Most of the time I just felt like the dose wasn't high enough. No depression, but OCD, and loads of anxiety. Now I am trying Lexapro, and hope it does the trick. I went from 40 of c. to 20 of Lexapro. Today is day 2. The only side I am having is queasy stomach on and off. I am hoping to get back to feeling like I am running my life, and not this illness. I would think that's the goal. So far, I haven't really reached it. My pdoc kept telling me to avoid stressful situations, which I have done, but I am also avoiding "living". If I am not doing the things I want to do, its not right. So maybe this lex. will give me the "coverage" I need to take my life back without feeling overwhelmed, having OCD, ruminations, or anxiety. Well, maybe not most of the time!

You could have been hyper and it crashed or its also hereditary. My sister

and Dad were dx'd after I was.

Just eat well, take your meds and do follow ups with Dr.

Hypo's tend to gain weight(which I have done AGAIN) so keep tabs on that

also. And just listen ,learn and read up as much online as you can.

> e.. How do you deal with the fatigue?

Hi Debbie,

For lots of info surfing the net is good, just consider the source

of what you read.

My saving grace has been REGULAR EXERCISE!!! I just don't function

without it. If you're new to it, start slow. It will be hard,

you'll feel tired and want to stop and think I'm crazy for advising

this. DON'T! Just start with a little at a time, low intensity, a

little at a time. Walking is good, no cost and no skills required!

Try to find something you enjoy. It may not be for everyone, but

it's worked wonders for me. Just be sure to give it a couple weeks

chance.

Good luck!!

Hi JW,

I have been on Lexapro since Oct and I take 5mg in the morning.

That seems to work out for me.I think its a personal preference

and it depends onhow you feel when you start taking it. If it makes

you sleepy u may want to take it at night.

Good luck!.....

Whichever works best for you. I tried it the a.m. but couldn't sleep at

night. So I've switched to p.m. and that's working better. Also, I'm better

off if my stomach is full before taking the Lex. Fewer pains and nausea

symptoms that way.

Welcome to the group thelsa, if you have any questions ask away. I am on my

5th shot and have genotype 3a Hep C. My recent blood tests show that my

enzyme levels have dropped, but have not heard about my viral load since

before beginning the meds. (I started with a viral load of 1,280,000).

I am sick and tired of being sick and tired though.

Hi and welcome,

I too am on Prozac at this time. Just switched back to it from Lex.

I had to do it mainly for $$, insurance would not cover it since it

was a new drug. What dose of P do you take? I'm at 20 mg.

Thank you for your e-mail and for being open about the medications

Hi ,

My experience says, Yes, it helps a lot with anxiety. I cannot

comment on eating disorders.

I am much calmer during the day and not all that prone to panicking

or anxiety (I notice it more in my co-workers now), but I have the

weirdest, most intense, repetitive, anxiety-ridden dreams every

single night. My take on this: Well, if my anxiety is only going to

manifest in my dream life, that's great. Works for me.

Best,

Barb

When you say you are on 150, are you talking about levoxyl or diflucan? I am

currently on .137 of levoxyl, which I was upped to while I was pregnant, but my

level has been in the normal range, presumably, at this same dose since I've had

the baby about 5 1/2 months ago.

Here is a link I found to describe what you are refering to I believe:

Dear ,

Prednisone definitely can cause sleeplessness. It doesn't take much for me at all to have a problem. So when I got on prednisone for a more permanent basis, I knew I had to ask for something to help me sleep otherwise I couldn't function. I also developed horrible mood swings with the prednisone and chronic illness fatigue (mostly down, down , down) so the dr. suggested Paxil - an anti-depressant. Both of these have helped me a great deal. It's nice not being a raving madwoman all night long :o)

Tracey,

Welcome. I have not tried the injectible mtx but have been on the pills for

almost 20 years. I've not had stomach problems at all. This just shows how

different drugs affect different people. Vioxx put me in the best shape ever

for about 3 months and then I crashed and ended up in the hospital with extreme

stomach pain. I tried the sulphasalazine but the dry mouth and sores that

started to develop made me give up that drug. I've been on remicade now for two

years but it too has not been doing the job so we are looking to try Humira.

Welcome Randy! What's best? Who knows? Most people have to go

thru several types of meds before they find one or a combination

that works for them. I hope you find yours quickly.

this is going to be tough for you to have surgery---you must fix your

anemia problems first, but I am sure you know that--go back and

reread some posts---one of them has a good product for anemia--you

will have to really go into nutrition to fix both these problems ---I

would really do my homework and see what you can do with food to

repair yourself---If you can take kelp that is both high in iron and

will help with your hypothyroid---look at the link on sea veggies.

This is one product that can be absorbed eaiser for both these

problems if you can take kelp--it's high on iodine so remember that

and check with your doctor first---we are using kelp, cooking it in

eggs, salads and soups and you can't even notice it!!! We are

thrilled with the sea veggie products (sent from another poster)----

it's best to get as much as you can from food---you will feel so much

better faster!!!! and when you are healthy then go have surgery, or

it will take you a very long time to heal and remember you must

supplement with C to absorb iron!!! most people forget this one!!!

take care tina

you might benefit from a drug that has T3 in it, such as Armour

http://www.armourthyroid.com $ynthroid is only T4. Also try a good

progesterone cream (progesterone shrinks fibroids). Progesterone is

bio-identical and very safe and thyroid supportive.

Just some info my doc gave me. Hope it gives you some hope. I could not

take vioxx because of excess swelling. I took celebrex for a while and

started adjusting to it like you. She switched me to Mobic (I don't know if

that is what you take) and told me that if I become accommodated to it we

could switch back to celebrex. Even after only a few months. I just had to

give my body a break from it for several weeks. Good luck. MJ

[ ] new

Well, after lurking awhile I thought I'd introduce myself. I am also a

Tami....was diagnosed recently with PA. I have to admit I feel sort of dumb

that I didn't know anything about it even though I was diagnosed with

psoriasis (scalp, forehead, ears) when I was 7 yrs old. I remember having

knee problems when I was young as 10. Have had so many of the symptoms that

y'all have talked about my entire life....including the pain in the rib

sternum area (went undiagnosed) in my 20's and 30's. I have felt horribly

for the past 5 years to the point of barely being able to move but basically

I ignored the problem or each individual problem was looked at. Sciatic in

right leg, conjunctivitis in eyes, swelling was believed to be blood

pressure related....etc. Haven't worn rings for 10 years. After I was not

able to close my hands when I woke in the morning and literally had to drag

my butt out of bed, I decided to see a doctor who referred me to a rheumy.

He diagnosed me in probably less than 5 mins. Despite how I feel apparently

the only damage I have is in the knee (yes the same one that hurt when I was

10). I've been on celebrex, vioxx...both which apparently my body adjusted

to. The rheumy put me on diclofenac (sorry I forgot the brand name)..which

my body has also started adjusting to. Felt like a million bucks at first

but after a couple of weeks it has worn off.

I am nervous to hear about the meds y'all are having to take.

Was wondering if y'all feel this is a continually progressive disease or

have some of you been in a sort of remission. I am 43 now and feeling

extremely apprehensive about what I've read. I unfortunately screwed up and

missed my last doctor appt...so have another month to wait. Thanks for being

so informative and look forward to the posts.

Tami
