Hi everyone!

Wow it's been so long since I've been here -anyone still remember

me?!! (I have a duckie name tag on just in case ) Tanner is doing

really well still. He is in 4th grade now and just an all around

great guy. He maintains around a high B average in most subjects -

some As too and still above average in height. He loves football and

playing with his friends and he loves the trampoline we got him for

Christmas. Is he 100% normal in speech today? No but is anyone 100%

normal? I mean he has hopes and dreams and feelings like any other

ten year old. A great sense or humor too. I also love that he still

lets me hug him. I mean I know some boys don't once they get to a

certain age. I also like that Tanner and I have conversations about

when he was little and couldn't talk -and it's so good to be able to

talk to him about it, and that the worst of it is in the past.

Tanner's still has a much higher receptive ability then expressive -

he knows so much more then he can express eloquently. That I

consider to be his ongoing impairment. That he doesn't " sound " as

bright as he is. Sometimes it's with words he can say at times and

at times he can't. Example of a more recent speech glitch -the other

day he couldn't say the word " thermometer " right but that's one we

don't use often in our home. I said " think of it as four words -

" their mom it ter " and then he was able to say it pretty quick.

Didn't sound 100% right -but close enough.

Just today we tried the new ProEFA Xtra (mixed 2 of them -2 of the

regular and then 2 ProEPA) so will let you know if we see anything

different. Off the top it seems to be a wee bit too high in the

Omega 6 -but it's something I'll play around with -perhaps add 1

extra EPA? Anyone know/try this new one from Nordic?

(Oh and Tanner gets 4 of the Alpha Gamma E everyday too)

Long time no talk. Nice to hear from you again.

I would like the conference in California.

Since I hired a private tutor has made over 3 years gain in receptive

language and 1 year gain in expressive language and that was tested back in

September so he could be even farther along than he was. He is 3 years behind

in receptive and 6 years behind in expressive language. He is still struggling

with reading, but it has improved 1 year since we hired the tutor last May.

Let us know where you decide to have the conference.

If the conference is being held in the fall or 2007 or later then I

would love any state in the southeast. That would make it easier for

me to attend. We'll be returning to live in my home state of Florida

starting this summer (or that's the plan at least) so I could drive to

pretty much any where in the southeast from there.

Now... explain what these new NN products are. I have been dying to

find a way to consolidate Grace's supplements. Is this like an

" extra strength " proefa????

My vote is for NY. We are further upstate (Kingston area), and there are not a

lot of resources here.

I, too, would vote for the Southeast. We're in TN. In addition to

the proximity, you'll probably find it more affordable than New York

and California! (No offense, please, I love those spots, just cost

prohibitive~)

it is great you are setting up a conference with all new

information!! It does appear that NJ and NY has the majority of

apraxic children at least in the past. I would love to be able to

The East Coast would be nice (since I live in New England!), but I

would say stay away from Boston or similar cities with horrible

traffic and that are hard to negotiate for out-of-towners. Close to

an major airport would be good.

New York would be great for us. We started a support group in Orange county, Ny

and people are coming out of everywhere to try and find out valuable, helpful

information. We would do anything to find out something new that may work.

Hi Everyone,

Well I am going to say California, but I know I will be shot down.

We are originally from N.J. so I will second that. Atleast I would

get to see my family. Going through all this without my sisters is

very hard. I know there is also a conference in July in Anheim

that I will be going to. So New Jersey would be great. Jeanne

stated that N.Y. and N.J. have the most Apraxic kids, well

was born in town NJ.

don't use often in our home. I said " think of it as four words -

" their mom it ter " and then he was able to say it pretty quick.

Didn't sound 100% right -but close enough.

Just today we tried the new ProEFA Xtra (mixed 2 of them -2 of the

regular and then 2 ProEPA) so will let you know if we see anything

different. Off the top it seems to be a wee bit too high in the

Omega 6 -but it's something I'll play around with -perhaps add 1

extra EPA? Anyone know/try this new one from Nordic?

(Oh and Tanner gets 4 of the Alpha Gamma E everyday too)

, Kaufman SLP and many others. Lots of cutting edge info

to share -not the same old that's for sure! I'll present the parent

angle through the years. And all of you are invited!! I was asked

to find out in what state most of you would want the conference in.

When you answer please let me know why you want it in that particular

state -what you believe the need is, etc. You can answer here on the

group so we can all talk about it. Please let me know ASAP

We all could be coming to a town near you!

Welcome back ! Hope all is going well for you..

I can understand why folks would want to have the conference in NY or NJ -

and, believe me, having lived in both places and having friends still there, it

would be great. But, both NY and NJ can be cost-prohibitive for a lot of folks

because of travel and hotel costs. So, my suggestion is to have something more

geographically centrally located or at least someplace more affordable for most

folks. I live in Illinois so, one would think I would suggest Chicago but I

think the costs here are prohibitive as well. What about someplace like

Madison, WI, or St. Louis, MO? Both are somewhat larger cities (no offense to

those who live there! :-) ) with cultural events that we could participate,

good restaurants, scenery, history, etc., as well as decent costs to attend the

conference. The location may also depend on what time of year you're talking

about.

Also, when I attended the conference in Pittsburgh a few years ago, one thing

that I thought might have been nice was to have childcare available for

attendees. Some folks may wish to make this a family trip but, if both parents

want to attend sessions during the day, they might run into problems with

childcare. And, those of us single parents may have a problem finding someone

to stay with our child(ren) during the conference and will be bringing them

along. Any way to take that under consideration?

Wherever the conference is, I am going to try my hardest to make it so keep me

on the list of " you-bets! "

I already placed a vote for the southeast. I just wanted to add one

thing. If not in the southeast I'd vote for a city with a major

airport in which that airport is a hub for a major airline (i.e.

Atlanta, Denver, etc). That will make it easier to get flights and

possibly less expensive flights.
