Does anyone here know of a doctor in Colorado who will accept Medicaid? I

really need to find one, before things get worst for me. I have been looking and

looking but have not found one. I am new to this group as well. I would

appreciate any help.

Hello Diane and Welcome! Wow, your already past the 1/2 way point

with your pregnancy and March will be here before you know it and

you'll be delivering!

I'm sure you've gotten lots of responses on the GTT, so I'll just

skip that one, but wanted to say WELCOME to the group! I'm pretty

new too, just been here a couple weeks!

Thank you for the welcome .

The vitamins that I take right now are: 1 prenatal, 1 B12, and 1 One A Day.

Hopefully that is enough. I have been trying to drink a lot more water.

I printed out the info on Pregnancy after WLS from the homepage of this group

and will take that to him tomorrow.

Did anyone else show real early? I am about 8 weeks and my excess skin from

losing all the weight is sticking out now, not hanging! I love it!

Tricia,

I am also light-headed and nauseous a lot at 20 weeks. I don't think

it's going to go away for me. I know that I am anemic and I think that it makes

those symptoms worse. You might want to check with your doctor about your

iron levels.

What type of surgery did you have? I had the DS, so I have difficulty

with absorption which is one of the reasons why I have the anemia. Also, you

should talk to your doctor about the zoloft. It is safe to take it while

pregnant if you are truly suffering from depression. Most doctors consider the

effects of depression and post-partum depression to be more debilitating than

taking a chance with this drug while pregnant. I know lots of pregnant women

who

have remained on their anti-depressants and given birth to perfectly healthy

(and happy) children. Just a thought. Depression is such a horrible thing..

and it sounds like you are thinking that some of your fatigue might be

related to that. It could ALSO be related to normal first trimester stuff.. I

was

completely wiped out for my first three months. I have more energy now,

although it's getting less and less as my iron counts go down.

I hope that your doctor visit goes well and that some of your fears will

be put to rest. I know that I worry about every little thing... so I can

definitely relate! Good luck to you! I go to the doctor on Wednesday and hope

to

have an ultrasound and find out whether we're having a boy or a girl!!

Exciting stuff!!

Welcome to the group!

Dee,

Thank you so much. I just might have to ask about the Zoloft. My poor daughter

is getting yelled at for everything now a days.

Good luck Wed. I can not wait to find out whether this sweet pea is a boy or

girl. I think a boy and (My 3 yo daughter) says NoWay We are having a

sister!

Tricia,

You are welcome! I will also answer the question about breastfeeding. If

you were taking the medication while pregnant, you can continue to take it

while breastfeeding and the baby won't get any more of the drug at that point.

I have been told very emphatically that it seems perfectly safe. I also had

breast reduction, so I don't know if I have enough milk ducts left to

breastfeed, either, but I'm hopeful! I will at least try, and then supplement

(even if

it's by quite a bit) with formula.

Depression is a horrible thing and add the changing hormones of early

pregnancy and I know that it can be almost unbearable to be in your own skin!

The

people around you do suffer almost as much as you do, but it's not your

fault. There is hope!

Good luck!

Hi !

Nice to see you! I loved you post - because it sounded like I did

immediately after aurgery! I remember my Mom blending pudidng and

milk together - and me drooling it down the front of my shirt!

I also understand about the self-esteem. Don't worry - the drooling

and the swelling are temporary. I remember goping to the ortho 4-

weeks post-op and the ortho's assistant says to me - so what is your

surgeon doing about the sweeling? I thought - um - I'm not swollen

anymore! Anyway - with me it went down - then up a tad - but it

goes back down again.

just think - it's better now than it was one day post op, right!

Take it one day at a time.

Hi, . Glad you founds us! The first week is very difficult, and

I bet you'll be doing better soon. I am 3 weeks post-op from upper,

lower, and genio. I had a really difficult time swallowing at first,

but I eventually got the hang of it--a combo of swelling going down

and getting used to the splint.

I TOTALLY know what you mean about the swelling. I was really swolen

until about the middle of the second week. Just around Wednesday, I

started to look normal. I'm still think I'm a little goofy-looking,

but maybe this is the new me. ;-) Try some warm moist compresses. I

found that really worked well. (I didn't do this until last week.) I

swelled up a little in response to the heat, but later, I was less

swollen overall.

Good luck!

My daughter was diagnosed from a muscle biopsy. She also had a liver wedge biopsy done at the same time because she has liver disease (now we know due to mito). Did they actually test her for Carnitine defficancy? I ask this because while it is a routine medication for mito, some people are deficient in it, and may not nessicarily have mito. For us Carnitine deficiency was our first sign of a mito diagnosis. If you saw improvements while she was on it, I would ask the doctor to check her levels while not on it. (It needs to be out of your system for about 2-3 weeks to get an accurate baseline.) Also many children have a lot of different issues, along with the mito. I don't think any child has the exact same symptoms as the last. Here is a list of my child's specific problems. I hope I don't forget something, I usually don't write it all.

Grace is 22 months

Liver disease (portal fibrosis, without medications elevated enzymes), Asthma, GERD, autonomic dysfunction, Carnitine Deficiency, Co Q 10 deficiency, Mic-Key button, speaking at an emerging 6-9 month level, possible delayed gastric emptying, and she is starting to show some problems with her gross motor control (used to be good), some autistic tendencies (although not autistic). Taking all of this in mind she is developing normally, except speech. Also speaking from her mommy, I think she is really cute!

Best Wishes for your family.

Welcome

I hear you on your thoughts. the first doc we went to did blood work and

said no way does Caeden have mitochondrial. My gut said there was some

reason he was regressing. So we pursued it with a genetics guy. He was great

and immediatly listened to us and didn't discount anything we had to say. He

repeated the labs and they were worse. Eventually did a biopsy and it came

up positive for mitochondrial myopothy unspecific yet. We have had many

energy crisis and seems like we have many " mito bumps " . The vitamin cocktail

for us does not seem to help but we are not yet giving up. I hope you can

find comfort in this group as I am very new here and already have had lots

of info that I was able to use and jsut in general feel good to know that I

am not alone and always have soemone to turn to . Good luck to you and

Good luck to you and

yours.

(mom to caeden 31mos. mito myop, severe CP, FTT, Milk allergies,

silent aspiration)
