,

Dr. Harbison's phone number is . She is on vacation

right now, but her secretary is there and can make the appointment

for you. Weill/Cornell Medical Center is also known as New York

Hospital. It is at 525 E. 68th Street - on York Ave.

Where are you going to nursing school? Are you at all near that

hospital? Dr. Harbison is a wonderful doctor, direct, to the point,

and will go to the ends of the earth for her patients. My son Max,

who is 15 and has RSS, has been seeing her for 14 years. He was her

3rd RSS patient and now she has over 170!

Like your daughter, Max was diagnosed with failure to thrive. It was

a nightmare for us because we were at first accused of not taking

proper care of him. What a battle we went through! I hope you have

not had the same thing happen to you.

Please feel free to post anything you want and someone will almost

always have an answer, even if it is a cyber hand to hold while you

search for whatever you need. This is the greatest bunch of people!

Welcome!

Jodi

I am not sure about all cases but with my son, the whites of his eyes are not

really white. In good lighting, they look a bluish grey. We didn't even notice

it until to Gen. pointed it out.

Bo,

The blue sclera means that the whites of the eyes have a blue tinge

to them. My son has that, but we don't even notice it anymore.

There is no specific shape or pattern because the entire white part

is more of a light baby blue.

Bo,

Don't fret over the blue sclera thing. It really means nothing other

than a characteristic that other RSS children MAY have. As with the

other characteristics, it is simply a list of things and your child

does not have to have everything to be diagnosed with RSS. A

syndrome is really just a compliation of many different things that

are common among a group of children/adults and given a name. For

me, it is easier to list what Max does NOT have rather than list what

he does to " prove " he has RSS. You will see, if you look at the

pictures that people have posted, that the kids all have the same

look about them; however, it changes as they get older. I see the

RSS in Max at the MAGIC convention when we are around almost 200 of

them, but day to day I don't really anymore. He is almost 5' (half

an inch shy) and 100 pounds. Now if we could only get the medical

stuff straightened out....

Jodi

Also, please note that blue schera does not affect eyesight or put

your child at risk. Many people have it without a problem.

Hi Janice, Welcome to the group and congrats on taking the first step

in your journey. Wow 1 year is a long wait. I think I would go nuts

if I had to wait that long. Hang in there and your day will come.

welcome angie! hmmm, there's a number of theories on post-op fatigue,

one has to do w/ the hibernation mode vs. hunting mode. maybe someone

Hi, Angie!

Fatigue in the first few weeks is so normal. Try to get out and about and

moving around. That may seem counter-indicated but believe me the faster you

get your tush moving and that blood pumping the quicker you will perk up. It

will pass and you'll start to feel on top of the world.

Congrats on the 22 pounds. :-)

Hi , I'm relatively new here, I'm in the same place you are,

trying to decide if this is what I want. I'm just like you, been

there done that on most diets, too overweight, and too many health

problems because of it. I have a referral from my doctor to the

surgeon to begin thinking about it. I have been reading here for a

couple of weeks, lots of nice people, and I'm sure you will get alot

of help from everyone here. Janice
