Dear Nancie,

Yes, you are definitely blessed with your family.

I look forward to meeting you!

By the way, how do I go about getting a " password " and a " handle " ???

Dear Gloria, Thanks for your concern, and I agree with you about being

thankful for all I have. If not having my husband or my kids in my life

would take this disease from me there would be no question that I would

play the hand I have been dealt. Thats part of what makes all this so

hard. I have 2 of the best kids anyone could ask for. Two beautiful

grandchildren with one more on the way, and a wonderful husband of over 30

years. So I want more time and guess I always will. As far as the

conferance goes we hope to be there, my husband just has to make sure he

can get those days off. It will be wonderful to meet as many of you as I

can. Thanks for yours and everyone elses support. You all make this

easier to deal with, my CJD family. Love, Nancie

Hi MIchelle,

Yes it can work for you too!! Just remember the less you have to lose the

slower it takes, as a rule, there are exceptions!!!!

Hi

Yes...... That's how I lost my final weight to reach my goal weight. I'm now

on a maintenance program, but if I see any weight sneaking up, I immediately

take care of it with Atkins Induction.

I thank God that this WOE has come along and boy does it ever control my blood

sugars! (I'm diabetic)

You'll love it!!

handle the protein in the formulas. Alyssa is one of those kids, just some

simple advice the formula elecare is terrible, It taste worst then soy milk.

before i would buy any I would talk to the company and see if they would

send you a sample, We had already been down that road There was no formula

that Alyssa would take by mouth. good luck Tina mom to Alyssa who seems to be

allergic to every thing

For some reason Vivonex was the only formula Clayton would not take by mouth.

He would drink the Neocate 1+ powder by mouth and now drinks the Elecare by

mouth - no problem - granted not tons - only 4-6 ounces a day - but he drinks

it. He gets about 500ccs by g-tube every night.

Phyllis-

it). It smells worse than the rest of the formulas. I forgot why AJ doesnt

have a Gtube?

I mailed off the Neocate to you today. You might try asking your doctor's

office (the GI would probably have it) for samples.

Dawn-KS, mommy to Dakota, 7, aka BJ, 4, (eosinophilic gastroenteritis,

Nissen, asthma, reflux), and mommy to Mackenzie Marie andrya born 11/20/99

[eosinophilic gastroenteritis] Hello

I was wondering if I could buy a couple of Elecare boxes off of someone. AJ

is still on Neocate and she still has her ups and downs, which seems to

correlate with a new case. I Know it is run on dairy equipment, but the doc

doesn't want to switch her. I want to see if she will even touch the Elecare,

before I demand that she be allowed to switch. No use fighting, if she won't

drink it. He suggested that maybe he would put her on Elecare in a few months.

Easy for him to say, when he is not dealing with a miserable 3 year old 24 hours

a day. If she won't drink it, then I will have to look elsewhere. Please let

me know the cost and I will gladly pay for shipping. Thanks so much.

Thanks . Our address is

Phyllis Zuckerman-Frieze

11 East Mockingbird Way

Absecon, NJ 08201-6206

AJ doesn't use a g-tube because she has been more than willing to drink the

Neocate juice boxes. If she were tube fed, Neocate powder would be a solution.

She won't touch the powder, no matter how little you hide in anything. She can

tell it is there.

Thanks again. Phyllis

<< Next week I will go to hospital to have an achilles-tendon-lengthening and

a transfer of the tibialis-posterior-tendon done. >>

Hello ,

Welcome to the group.

I have not had surgeries so I know nothing about them, but I do know that it

is important that a CMTer be kept warm during the surgery. Over here there

are special blankets to keep the patient warm. I hope they are available in

Germany as well. CMTers have reported spending miserable days trying to get

warm afterwards, if they were not kept warm during the surgery.

The other important thing is not to have an anesthesia that is harmful for

people with neurological problems. I hope your anesthesiologist knows about

your CMT.

Good luck with your surgery. I hope it goes well and that you will someday

walk without people looking at your feet. :-)

By the way, too many doctors in the USA also do not know of or understand CMT.

Regards,

Kat in Seattle USA

<< Does anyone have leg twitches? They are annoying. How can I make them

less bothersome? >>

Hi , welcome to the group. Can you describe the leg twitches? Do they

involve most of the leg? A little bit of it? Are they like restless leg

syndrome or like electric shocks? Spasms? I'm sure there are other words too,

these are just some I can think of off-hand.

I assume by now you know that additional B6 is not recommended for CMTers.

How do your feet look? Your calves? How is your balance? Do you trip or fall

much?

I hope you'll find some answers here.

Hi Cindy,

Nice to meet you.

<< There is degeneration and worsening of symptoms. So, will I be able to

continue what I have been doing (when I thought I had fibro) with CMT??? >>

It may depend on what you have been doing!!

CMTers are not necessarily affected a lot. Some are and some are not. CMT is

called progressive, but the rate is different with each of us. For some it

continues to be mild all one's life. There is NO way to predict, and if

anyone does there is no reason to believe what is said.

Are your feet " funny? " Do you have trouble walking without tripping or

falling? What do your calves look like?

How are your hands?

Why do you think you may have CMT instead of FM?

CMT and fibromyalgia do have some symptoms in common.

Welcome Cindy,

My name is a. I am the mother of a 13yo daughter with CMT. I don't have

an answer to your question since I don't have the disease personally. My

daughter was diagnosed at age 8, wears leg braces below the knees called

AFO's(ankle-foot orthotics) but you'll hear slang AFO's. She is very much

ambulatory but is having some problems with her fingers curling called

" clawing " (I hate that term). but the one thing I have learned is that this

seems to affect everyone a little differently. Good luck with the nerve

conduction studies in July.
