Dear , I wish you the best in your plans. I know what it is like to

not be able to keep up with the family. My husband and I have 3

grandchildren that are 8, 4 and 4!!! We love to do things with them. My

surgery was Jan 10, 2000 and I was 242 lbs and 5 ft 1 in tall. Now 3 months

later I am 182 lbs and feeling great and able to do all kinds of things with

our grandchildren and the rest of the family. I am so thrilled to have my

life back, it it truly a miracle. I have lost 7 inches from my waist, so I

am looking better in clothes and am enjoying the compliments from everyone.

I still have more to lose and I feel sure it will happen. Trust me you are

headed in the right direction. The surgery was no problem at all and I am 55

years old with a long history of all kinds of health problems. All of them

are better and I am making an unbelieveable come back!!! Some on this list

are probably tired of my bragging. I don't mean to brag really. I am just

over joyed and keep praising the Lord that I didn't let anyone talk me out of

my surgery. I was self pay and now we are sueing the insurance company.

Lots going on here in Missouri. Blessings to you, in Missouri

A Cbc will check your hemoglobin level. You may be anemic...I am and that is

how I feel MOST of the time. Also there is a chemistry test that checks

protein. You doctor should order those if you are feeling like you

do....routinely. Be sure to ask though so you dont have to run right back to

the lab for another blood draw. Iron levels are not the easiest to determine

count and go from there. Perhaps you have other conditions beside post op

changes that are causing your symptoms. I wonder if you had a thorough work

up before surgery to evaluate you glucose levels and check for thyroid

abnormalities. Something I would think would be part of a preop evaluation. I

know Dr R requires a CBC but not a protein count.I was advised my anemia is

part in due to my diet(poor intake) and long time efforts to lose weight and

NOT eating properly because of it. :(

For Anemia.....first determine the cause. That is not always easy. You can be

anemic for many reasons. I am from an esophageal ulcer that is the result of

poor diet and Gastroeesophageal Reflux. I am taking Prenatal vitamins

prescribed by the Gastroenterologist. I plan to have my yearly complete Gyn

exam in a few weeks and I will have my Hemoglobin rechecked then. It does

take about 120 days to form new hemoglobin from what I have heard.

If I am not improving I may need a colonoscopy to evaluate for a source there.

Preop on hold due to anemia

Thanks for the advice.

A cbc level...I remeber that being checked off on the lab paper. What can I

do if I am anemic? I think somehow, I am going to have to find a way to

swallow adult vitamins.

Thanks again!

As I sit here....Tears just keep falling, my heart is broken, and I am in

total shock. I had NO idea that our dear friend Kristan did not make it. I

posted that I was praying for her, but it seems that it was just too late.

To Dr Rutledge, , Fanny & All of s family, my love and prayers

surround you all. I feel as though I have lost a dear friend and I never

imagined it could hurt this badly.

May God's Love & Strength embrace each of you.

Hi Everyone!

I have to first of all say that I have MISSED YOU ALL!!!

I recently had my internet service disconnected in hopes of spending more

time with my family. I went through major withdrawels and of course

reinstated my service! LOL

I have skimmed through the e-mails and I want to say congratulations to all

that have recently crossed over! I have to say that it is a major adjustment

in the start, but oh so worth it! Please keep us posted.

I am so very sorry to hear about . All I can think about is whether

or not she is ok. I am a huge believer in Prayer, so please everyone lets

join together and watch God heal her.

Pam...WOW! Praise God you are on your way to a healthier life now. I am

always wanting to hear the good and the bad, but this broke my heart. I am

praying for you and your daughter each day!

As far as myself...well, I sent Dr R an update today and thought I would

share it. Anyone who is post op that has experienced chronic fatigue, dizzy

spells, migraines...Please contact me.

Here goes...

Just wanted to take a moment to check in with you!

Things seem to be right on track for me. I did take time to see my pcp

yesterday to have some tests ran. I am sure you remember when I had the

fainting spells a while back...well, they have continued and I am simply

tired all the time. My pcp asked me if it is any worse now than b-4 the

surgery, and I explained that my energy level just is not getting better. I

never had the fainting spells b-4 and that really scares me. So...she drew

some blood and told me to call her on Tues and we would go from there. My

blood pressure was 120/80, weight was 195 (down from 271 in Nov visit). I

was pleased. I have to say that I am extrememly happy with the weight loss.

I was getting dressed for work the other day and all 3 pair of pants I

put

on literally FELL off of me. Try to picture me throwing my clothes all over

the room in sheer anger b/c they were too big! LOL Go figure, huh? My

husband was like, " , don't you even act like that b/c you were the

one that wanted to lose the weight! " He was laughing at me the whole time.

I can pretty much eat anything I want now. I even wonder if I am eating too

much at times. I am able to get down a whole taco or a whole turkey

sandwich some days. On other days I have to make myself eat. I drink

nothing but Gatorade or Crystal lite. Fried foods still do not settle well,

and I could not even tell you what sugar does to me. I have avoided it like

the plague since Dec. I also have found that I only am able to get in about

one 20 oz gatorade a day. Is this ok?

I am joining a womens fitness ctr next week and am very excited about that.

I have to be honest and say that I have not excersiced b/c of the chronic

fatigue. Because of the lack of excersice, I can see the difference. B-4 I

was really hard all over even being so overweight. I seem so flabby now and

I hate it. I have made a committment to begin working out at least 3x's a

week. Maybe that will increase my energy level. Oh! When I told my pcp

that I wanted to check my vitamin/mineral levels, she looked at me like I

was crazy and questioned me?! I know she is checking my thyroid, glucose,

B-12, and a couple of others. I am concerned with things like my iron and

protein level. Is there anyway to check those? I began to notice some hair

loss just last week. I guess it is about that time huh? I am hoping it

won't get too bad. Still taking the childrens chewables daily, but I think

I am not absorbing them as I should.

Well, you take care. I hope to get you some recent pics in the mail very

soon. My scanner is messed up, and I have no way to show everyone that is

asking anymore. You are more than welcome to put them on the site.

>

Thanks again for working a miracle in my life! If you have any

suggestions concerning the weakness etc, please let me know.
