Guest guest
Shelby, I am not of the same mind as most and don't believe you should donate them. Free formula is available all too readily already. My suggestion is to write a nice but heated letter and send the whole thing back to the formula company. Guest guest
Llanda, The huge difficulty I have with that is that breastfeeding mothers aren't offered a substitute pack. If they don't want the formula, they miss out on anything free! Formula feeding and bottle feeding in our society are rewarded and breastfeeding is not! Guest guest
Can you tell DH is home and has Abby swinging by his desk? LOL...I've sent about 5 emails in the last 15 minutes! LOL...see below for comments: > In terms of the donation of formula, I am really torn. For me this is a > real moral dilemma and I don't know what the answer is. I certainly don't > want to participate in a baby not getting breastfed. However, I have > worked with homeless families and have seen how hard it is for them to get > by. I'll have to think about this some > more. I gave a lot of my formula samples away. My sister-in-law has two employees that work for her and recently had children and both of those babies are formula fed and both families are by no means wealthy. I gave them most of my formula. I also gave them the car seat that we got from the hospital also. We got one of those travel systems so I didnt need the extra seat. I wondered why if they didnt have extra $ why they would choose not to bf...but then I decided that its their decision and who was I to second guess what they as a family had decided? So I went ahead and gave them what I had to give. At the same time I've also had many people tell me that with all the problems I went through with bf'ing they kept trying since their problems werent as severe as mine. And I've had people at our local LLL meetings say that I was more help than the LLL leaders since I gave real life answers (all in support of breastfeeding but not radical) instead of " lansinoh fixes everything " sort of statements. I do dog rescue (well I used to when I had time <grin>) and its sort of the same thing kind of. You can only do what you can do. If you can help than that's a great thing but you cant convince someone who believes a dog is strictly an outside creature that they should let them sleep in the bed with them. Sure bf'ing is better than formula feeding but if they decide to formula feed than they should still be supported. Its not like they are abusing the child by feeding formula. I believe an analogy would be this: becomming a stay at home mom is best for the child. However for those people that go back to work, should they be deemed inadequate parents and made to feel as though they are doing something wrong? I personally dont think so. -Jen -------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.TheElliotts.org CUR #153 ICQ#875060 I was born Creative, not Patient. Guest guest
Sorry for the typo. Michele Please be careful here! It's *Motherhood Maternity and Mothers Work* that is in partnership with Ross Labs. *Motherwear* is a company that sells nursing clothes, and unequivocally supports breastfeeding. Big difference! : ) Margaret ~ Michele ~ wrote: I would donate them to the food bank. Or if you are of the same mind as , send them to Motherwear!
