effective if typed in all caps? Of course, now that he has been told to " remove

aggressive behavior that drives me crazy because then the offender can

plead ignorance, innocence, and tell me how horrible I am for not

being nice. Well, I'm plenty nice to people who aren't rude to me,

FYI - When you again feel the need to give somebody the "what's what" you should consider passing on your trademark closing of "peace." It make you sound very snotty, much like telling somebody to have a nice day after an exchange of words when both parties know you mean something entirely different.

Hi Nate and list,

Actually, I don't think my comments can be construed

as giving someone the "what's what" considering the tone and content of

the original post. All things considered I thought I was polite and

restrained. However, I would have to agree with your comments regarding

my signature. While my intent was to respectfully comment on what

I perceived to be an unwarranted attack on Cordap, I can see how someone

might take this as an attack.

Beause lists are 'confirmed opt-in', meaning when you sign

up for a list (by sending the subscribe message) it sends a 'confirm'

message to the address. You (or the person whose email was forged in

the 'from' of the subscribe request) must reply to that message to

actually become subscribed to the list. You can subscribe on the

website, but you must be logged in with your egroups password (or, I

presume, go through a similar procedure with a 'confirm' message).

This is done specifically to prevent net abuse such as signing up

people you hate to lots of high-volume mailing lists where they

would end up getting a huge volume of messages they didn't ask for.

This sort of thing happened enough years ago that all responsible

mailing list operators went to some sort of verification system to

prevent it.

No, not unless someone else has their Internet password, in which case

they have bigger problems than being signed up to this list without their

consent.
