Guest guest
> Pediatricians are weird. They don't seem to know beans about autism. Sigh. I hate how often this seems to happen. Salli < you know, i think that might be a big reason why it took me so long to accept it about kailey. whenever i would go to the ped and mention something i was concerned about, the not eating, the not sleeping, etc, he always passed it off as no big deal. she was healthy, so he wasn't concerned... , I don't think there is one good ped around here. Most know nothing and won't help. At least the ones I've found. Now here we start again with and Trevor, I'm so tired of the battle. I just wish someone else esp my ped would see what I do. I would not call you narrow-minded. Really. You are entirely too accepting of all kinds of different people here to be called that. The others, okay, and I'll add inflexible too, although I think pig-headed and stubborn cover that. Of course I do not see these as negative traits. -Sara. Guest guest
Maybe she ignores the ped Georga Hackworth www.ubah.com/F1549 Enter to win $50 in FREE books! Re: From my friend whose son seemed autistic... Salli, I went through the same thing with a friend of a friend. My friend thought I should talk to her friend. I met the kid and yep, he's autistic. His mother doesn't want to hear and won't take him to be evaluated. It's been a year and my friend says the kid still isn't talking. He's three now. I wonder how she keeps her ped from finding out something's wrong? Sissi
Guest guest
Some Peds just don't look for that type of problem. Guest guest
I sent a thank you card to the woman who suggested my having Matt evaluated. He was diagnosed on a Friday and she came with me to his IEP on the following Monday. After that was when I sent the card, not just for coming to the IEP with me, but for getting the whole ball rolling in my head. ellen Re: From my friend whose son seemed autistic... Two weeks after his diagnosis, I took a bouquet of flowers, a box I'd painted myself, and a thank-you card to the woman who suggested it to me. She cried. Guest guest
Needless to say that's why I no longer have a copy of that book or the pregnancy one. Nothing I ever do follows the " norm " .
