Guest guest
Well, this CAN be rT3-related, so I'm gonna write about it here: My bowel movements. They've been weird for 2 years. Since BEFORE T3-med was removed from me, it has been weird going in the bathroom. Things are way too loose, and too lightly colored. Can rT3 have started making my intestines Hypothyroid, before the rest of my body? If rT3 blocked the effect of T3 when I was on my old " full " dose of 100 mcg T4 and 40 mcg T3 daily (I was on that dose for 4 years without much problems) thus giving me bowel movement issues? Gluten. It can also be an intolerance to gluten. That's why I've been going through the hell that it is so eat gluten-free, for the past 1 1/2 years. It's SO boring and I get pretty sick of eating only the same salmon, steaks and salads every say. I miss bread. And the darkest bread (100% wholegrain, from Denmark/Germany) is HEALTHY too! So I would do better if I just ate some bread. But not if I have gluten-intolerance. Which I am not sure about. I did the blood sample. It said I could have it. So I did the biopsy (painful as hell!) which came out negative. HOWEVER, I did the huge mistake of eating gluten-free for 1 month before I took that biopsy. I ate normal food with gluten in the last 5 days before the biopsy was done, but I don't think it was enough to make any difference down there in my intestines. I feel like an idiot - I have been eating gluten-free for 1 1/2 years and I don't even know if I need to! See, I stopped eating gluten because I was so sick last year, and I didn't know why! Somehow the idiot docs convinced me that I was no Hypothyroid and did not need any T4/T3-meds at all. So they removed my T3-med, and dosed down my T4... I got worse and worse, and finally this June, I got a new specialist, HC and some new diagnoses (Hypothyroidism Type 2 and Adrenal Fatigue) - I've been feeling better on HC, that's for sure. BUT I still feel like a total mess. I am less sleepy in the daytime with HC. But something is still wrong. rT3. Gluten-Intolerance. Can it be a mix of these two? Or just rT3... My Ferritin can have suffered (in the 40s now) from stopping eating bread and other stuff with Iron in it. *sigh*
Guest guest
I am aware of the hypoglycemia-issue, and maybe I have that. What I did was to drink a small glass of water with 1/3 teaspoon of sea salt in it.. Don't know if that made any difference. I also ate some brown rice at some point, can't remember when. I do eat often. At least every 2 hours. An apple. A kiwi. I find eating difficult as I can't eat " most things " (this is how I feel about it). I am a little worried about HC - I think it has given me a Cushings body in the past 6 months on it. My legs, hands and arms are skinny. The rest is not. And it pretty much happened after I started taking HC. I gained some weight while I was tapering off of T4 (my insane doctor form last year really wanted me off ALL thyroid meds), but it wasn't more than 15-16 lbs over a period of 17 months. However, in these past 6 months, while on HC, I've gained an ADDITIONAL 35 lbs! So there is someting that does not make sense to me.. > > Wel you need to get UNHYPO but to do that oyu need ot get enough > cortiosl first,. Guest guest
I was pretty fine for 10 years on T4 and later on the T4/T3 combo, compared to This... I look in the mirror, and I see my hypo-face coming back. I just can't believe it's really happening. Can anyone give me an example of a T3-only plan? And how to switch from ERFA Thyroid/T4 like I'm taking now?

Guest guest
Thanks for your reply Nick! I have taken 25 mg Amino Iron (Ferrochel type) on and off for 2 months, cause I didn't know what to do with the dose of that specific type of Iron, even if I read the STTM page, and other pages about taking Iron. Right now I take 2 x 25 mg of that Iron every midnight before going to bed. At least 4 hours after I take my last ERFA dose. PS! I woke up now, it's noon, and my face feels puffier than ever! It's horrible! I'm constantly brainstorming myself... " Is it too much HC doing this to me? Is it the rT3 increasing, blocking the T3, creating fluid retention? Am I dirnking too much OR too little salt? " - It sucks... Cause it's impossible to tell! > > >But my Ferritin is too low. in the 40s..... Guest guest
By the way, in Norway, we only have normal T3, not slow-release, (which is not good anyway, right?) BUT the main thing is that one pill is 20 mcg. They come in that strength only. I can split it easily in two, and get 10 mcg pieces. But splitting it in 4, down to 5 mcg pieces, is VERY hard. The pieces often become uneven. So I don't know how to do this? > > >Can anyone give me an example of a T3-only plan? Guest guest
Ok. Thanks for these words of advice. You're still on T3-only, Nick? I have a crappy pill-splitter, but it's so bad, it's like a joke. Out of 5 ERFA Thyroid tablets, I would get 1 tablet split in two, and the rest would end up as dust and small pieces, and get thrown away. I can't swallow Thyroid powder! As for changing 50 mcg T4 and 1 grain Thyroid daily, 10 mkg T3 seems little, but I understand that's how it goes in the beginning. Cause all that T4 isn't used like T3 is when I take it. I know that much. It's supposed to be converted. BUT IS IT..... In my case..... I don't know! Probably not like it should. Hence rT3. I will at least take my Thyroid today. 1 grain, and probably skip those 50 mcgs of synthetic T4. I will also do a Ferritin test today, even if I haven't stopped taking Iron for 3-5 days before the test. > You can work in 10mcg increments where the web suggests 12.5 > > If you use a knife or a razor blade you may be able to split one of > those halves into 2. Guest guest
Val, I am still worried that I am one of the few that don't tolerate HC very well. I've gotten more and more bloated after starting HC. I am still at 20 mg's. Took an extra 2.5 mg last night before going to bed, as a stress-dose, in case I needed it. Was shaking a little. Possibly from just being sleepy. Didn't sleep for 3 hours. Woke up naturally at 7:45 am now. Haven't gotten up this early in YEARS! Took my HC and ERFA (1/2 grain) now at 9 am. 3-4 hours before I usually get up and take those meds. Is that OK? To switch the time like that? > > This is a low cortiosl sympotm. Guest guest
AND I still feel something in my lungs - Like a hand is gripping around my heart. BUT I especially feel it when I breathe, so it can be the left lung. Like something is IN there. Slime or, whatever. Hope it's not a blood clot building up. I wonder what this is, and I would like to find out! Do you think it can be related to Ferritin and the 9 mcgs of T3 I am getting my 1 grain ERFA Thyroid daily? My specialist said I could either raise to 1 1/2 grain daily today, OR take just T3, 10 mcgs split in 2 doses (5+5) with 4 hours in between them. That would be one dose at 9 am and one dose at 1 pm, IF I would take T3-only. I still took my ERFA Thyroid today. But I wonder... If I am starting at 10 mcg T3. And the last dose is at 1 pm. How can I get thru the rest of the day with no T3 in my system? What about the evening, at 6 pm and so on? T.

Guest guest
That's it - I never had much variation in my temperatures. They are the same now as they were BEFORE I took HC! So I don't have that guidance to help me! You're more for a T3-only treatment, huh... Well, I could raise ERFA with 1/2 grain today, bring it up to a total of 1 1/2 grains. I will feel the T3 immediately, of course. So I will know if I tolerate another 4.5 mcg T3 with that raise or not. BUT shouldn't I increase with 1/2 grain in the morning, like at 9 am, with I took my first 1/2 grain? My specialist recommended an increase like that instead of taking more later in the day. Like 3 x 1/2, or 1/2 + 1 grain. T. > > >AND I still feel something in my lungs - Like a hand is gripping around > >my heart. BUT I especially feel it when I breathe, so it can be the > >left lung.
