Thanks for letting me know what happened with you. I'm eating good and taking

my vitamins...so I'm sure we'll be fine. I'm a first time mother and of

course I'm paranoid about EVERYTHING!!! Thanks again!

Jana - my timeline looks alot like yours, only mine took place a year

earlier.

Surgery date 03-27-01

Baby boy born 04-02-02

Pre-op 242 lbs

Post-op (4months post-op) 177 lbs

Weight the day I went in to deliver 154 lbs

Current weight today 135 lbs

I was induced 9 days prior to his due date and he weighed 7 lbs 8oz

and was 20 inches long. I worked out my entire pregnancy and ate

very healthy. Labor/delivery were a breeze (thanks to the epi).

They gave me pitocin at 3pm and broke my water at about 3:30 -- he

was born at 6:36pm. (Granted this was my 3rd baby -- 1st baby post-

op). Needless to say - I was very scared when I discovered that I

was pregnant so soon after surgery (open rny) but this list has given

me tons of great advice and much needed support.

How much?

I got pregnant by ACCIDENT 6 months post-op. I weiged 240 when I got

pregnant, 230 when I delvered, 215 when I went home and 200 at my 2

month check up. My son will be a year in two weeks and I am at 185-20

pounds from goal! My daughter was 5lbs before I had surgery and I

developed preeclampsia. My son was 8lbs 4 oz and had an absoultley

uneventful pregnancy. I even had I super short labor-he was born 30

minutees after I got to the hospital. So relax and don't worry. Hope

this helps!

Hi ladies

I was wondering. My last period was November 18th started so I figured of on

ovulating on the the Nove 29 to the Dec 3 range. No idea when for sure I

ovulated but we were banging like bunnies during that time. Now during this

whole time I had the occasional cramping feelings and twinges. Tuesday night I

was very nauseated and up came the spagetti (which post wls) is normal for me.

Last night I was ucky feeling too. No real morning ucky feelings. Not really

hungry but I force something into myself so I can get on with the day. Should I

not be doing that? Today I had some reddish-yellow murky discharge. It was a

very tiny amount. Perhaps the size of a quater. I am wondering ---

does this sound like a pregnancy thing or am I nuts. This is my first real

attempt at getting preggers. Or is this just me being stressed out and my body

hating me?

Thanks for getting back to me on this one.

I had the water weight gain with my son. I have low blood pressure also

(always have, but it is lower since WLS) so my doctor never thought it was

toxemia. It wasn't. Amazingly, when you don't drink enough fluid your body

will hold onto a lot of excess fluid. Are you drinking enough? It sounds

like you are retaining water to me. My skin was the same way. It amazed me

to take my socks off and see the indentations they had left on my lower

legs.

With my subsequent pregnancies I drank a lot more water and never had the

water weight gain. I cannot say for sure that the extra water intake was

the reason for no retention but I am now a true believer that 64 ounces a

day is vital.

Regarding your OB ... you are paying him/her to care for you during your

pregnancy. If you have a concern about how your body is reacting you MUST

bring it to his/her attention. Have them explain to you why you are

retaining this water or why your skin feels different. Demand answers.

Explain that you are getting close to the time in your pregnancy where you

have lost a baby. Tell them you need reassurance that these symptoms are

not something dangerous to you and the baby. Who cares if they think you

are a hypochondriac! Their job is to ensure the health and wellbeing of you

and the baby and sometimes that requires some mental reassurance rather than

only physical reassurance.

Best wishes on a safe and joyous birth experience!

From: Dubin

For the last week I have had bad swelling of my feet and ankles and my

abdomen! My OB wasn't concerned as my blood pressure is very low 100/60. I

also saw him on 12-4 and even called the RN again who stated that it was

normal, and to call if I had blurred vision, headaches etc. So, for right

now I am not worried about Pre-eclampsia. But, the swelling on my tummy is

so weird! My skin is thick and doughy feeling, if you put you fingers on it,

the indentation will stay for a while. Has anybody had this before?

I was supposed to leave work effective 12-23. (I work midnights as an

airline crew scheduler) but I really think I should start my leave now. My

OB might think I am a real Hypochondriac but, due to misdiagnosis 5 years

ago, my baby girl died and I almost died. So, I have to watch out for us.

Please any advise or comments would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks! Actually my entire pregnancy I have been having trouble getting my

fluids in and have been borderline dehydrated. I have to force myself to get

more liquid in. As far as my OB goes, you can tell he is slightly aggravated

with me. You are right! Like my Husband says as well, who cares, this is his

job. Also, I have to protect myself and my baby when it comes down to it.

Thank-you for the advice and encourgement!

Go with you instincts! Insist your dr looks into these concerns/problems

closer. The swelling should be a concern...especially when you have 'pitted

edema'. That is when you can push your finger in the skin and the indention

stays there awhile. Call your dr OR go back into his office and make sure he

is fully aware of all this. Look out for you and baby first and don't worry

that you are 'bugging' him too much. It would be even worse if something

happened again with this pregnancy, that could have been prevented. Make sure

he keeps a close watch on you!

Good luck and I am praying for you.............

First of all...is this your first pregnancy? I know that sometimes women

don't feel the baby move until they are well past 20 weeks or so, especially

with the first pregnancy. If they baby was seen moving on the ultrasound, I

wouldn't worry about it. You'll feel it soon enough!!! I know my little guy

moves all the time now and I was worried just like you are. The thing is, is

you probably do feel it move, you just don't know it yet.

Dear ,

I might be wrong, but i think the doctors calculate the " weeks " of our

pregnancies from the first day of our last period. Therefore, if you are 15

weeks and 3 days, you are really (about) 13 weeks pregnant. If you are just

over three months, what you are experiencing sounds normal.

When I had my son, I did not feel my uterus growing until I was 3 1/2 months

pregnant. What I mean is that at 3 1/2 months pregnant that I could start to

feel my uterus expanding starting at the bottom of my stomach. When I lied

down on my bed at night, I could put my hands there and gently feel my

uterus. Every day thereafter it seemed as if my uterus got a little bit

bigger. You are probably about three weeks away from that happening. How on

Earth could you feel a baby now when the baby is so tiny?

My edd is June 25, 2003. According to my last pregnancy, I should start to

feel the presence of the baby around mid January, and I can't wait! But even

when that happens, it does not really " feel like a baby. " It feels like the

uterus is expanding. After that point in time, you will gradually feel the

presence of the baby developing inside you.

Again, I could be wrong. I am just going by my own personal experience from

my last pregnancy. Soon enough, you will feel and look pregnant!

Take care,

Shoshannah

Candy,

This is something I noticed in my daughter too when she started

crawling. It is due to the overcorrection of the clubfoot, which is

done on purpose. Is Cole unilateral? If he's bilateral, I would

wonder why one foot does it and the other doesn't, but if he's

unilateral, it sounds perfectly normal to me. The overcorrection is

something that they grow out of once they start standing and walking

and wearing the brace less.

Hope this helps.

No...he's bilateral. I'm sure the Doctor we see in March will be able to

tell us more. But, hearing that your daughter did something similar let's

me know it's not totally uncommon. :)

Thanks....
