Guest guest
Hi Amie. I feel much better while exercising and afterwards, but, lately, worse the next day. I also seem to sleep somewhat better the night after exercising. What I mean by worse is more pain in my back and flank which I am starting to believe is not joint or muscle pain, but from something else. I have read about people here posting that they could feel pain their adrenals and how their docs told them that it was impossible. Anyway, I have much more energy to get through a workout lately, since being on Iso, than the few months before. -- In NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS , " Amie " wrote: > > Anyone else feel MUCH better during exercise after starting the HC? Guest guest
Well, I was ABLE to exercise again after going on Isocort and then HC, so that was definitely something. I didn't always feel so hot after exercising on Isocort, sometimes run down feeling for several hours, but that improved a lot when I switched to HC. I can't say I always feel terrific afterwards, though, because if it's too much for my adrenals, it can actually cause a crash. But sometimes, yes, I do feel the goodness that just comes from getting up and doing some exercise. I'm not sure if this is the same thing you are describing. Guest guest
I asked my doctor if it was possible, and he said he thought it WAS. I had been having flank pain off and on, nothing major, just a tired feeling if I was stressed. It is mostly gone now after taking the supplements I've been on. in MI jasrich wrote: > > I have read about people here posting that > they could feel pain their adrenals and how their docs told them that > it was impossible. > >
Guest guest
Have you tried yoga for it, at the end of your workout? http://www.yogacards.com/adrenal_Gland/adrenal_gland_disorders.html Many people think about yoga toning just the muscles but if you look at what you are doing, you are toning/stimulating internal organs as well. Feeling pain in your adrenals may indicate a blockage/energy impediment of some sort. Now, that page says you need to do this 30 minutes a day to get the effects; ok, that would be optimal but I think adding some of the poses in at all has some benefits. Just like some exercise is better than none to most people. Guest guest
This sort of answers a question I've been wondering about. I've been trying to get my HC dose correct for me, and I wondered if being on too little would cause weight loss or if being on too much would prevent it. It seems MY weight has gone up since I increased my dose up from 15 mgs. which I had been taking for almost two years. Now I've gone up to 25 mgs. and I am gaining weight. I wonder if this means my dose is too high. Congrats on the weight loss though; I know how good that feels. I think for a lot of us though with these hormonal imbalances that getting growth hormone up is a very important component of weight loss. --------- Re: exercise Well, I was ABLE to exercise again after going on Isocort and then HC, so that was definitely something. Guest guest
What often happens at these sort of doses is that you start to get/feel more hypo as you increase the HC (HC uses up your thryoid, so you effectively have less floating around) and that can make you gain weight, not the HC itself. If you were taking excessive HC (more than replacement dose), then the HC could cause weight gain by itself, but I don't think you're close to that. So it may just mean you need more thryoid now! Are you graphing temps so you know whether you can increase? And do you have other hypo symptoms, like lowish temps and othe symptoms? I assume you raised due to unstable temps and/or low cortisol symptoms or inability to tolerate thyroid? Kathleen > > This sort of answers a question I've been wondering about. Guest guest
I read that some people gain a few lbs when they first get on or increase HC but then it goes away after especially if the person is able to be active with the increased energy. I am not sure if the gain is from initial water retention due to fluctuating sodium levels or something else. I guess the question would be how much is the gain and over how long a time period. Then once the person has prober cortiosl levels and can raise the thyroid, they can also lose the weight. People have to be aware that the adrenal situation can change. As healing occurs I have seen several people suddenly start having symptoms ot high cortisol, and need to lower their HC. Guest guest
Cheri, I've been having this back pain on and off and I am wondering how long you've been supporting your adrenals? I'm asking because I'd like to know if I'll ever be able to wean off HC and stay off HC. I seem to be doing the yo-yo thing...supporting for a while then I get a crisis due probably to heavy stress and I begin experiencing all the classic adrenal insufficiency problems like shaking, nauseated, very faint, very weak. No matter what I do, nothing helps until I " remember " (duh) to go take some HC. Good thing I continued to carry HC with me. The last time this happened I was shopping at BJs. P.S. I also have pain just under the bottom of my ribs on the right side. They found some stones in April and I just completed a gastric emptying study today. This particular pain has been ongoing for about a year and a half and nobody seems to know why. --------------------------------- Don't let your dream ride pass you by. Make it a reality with Yahoo! Guest guest
That is exactly where my pain is - just under the lower most rib on the right side and wrapping around towards the back. I thought about gall stones and they looked at my gall bladder pretty hard a couple of years ago, but not lately. My pain was better yesterday and not too bad today, but it's still there. I'm also super hypoT right now so maybe it will all fade when/if I get optimized on Armour. > P.S. I also have pain just under the bottom of my ribs on the right side. Guest guest
, Is your back pain high up like above the kidneys, middle, or lower? High up and mid is likely adrenals but when I was at my worst, it also radiated to my lower back and up front to my abdomen on both sides. Pain on the left front side is usually the colon (I have that frequently and then up my probiotics) and the front right is frequently liver and gall bladder issues if under the rib area. I can't really answer the HC question since this is a new treatment for me as I waited to go on it as a last resort and am starting out with the weaker form, Isocort. I think this is an ongoing management issue of the illness and if you are in an early stage you might be able to get off of it permanently, but for me in stage 7 I don't really believe I will ever be able to function without ongoing support so I have finally adjusted my thinking to this will be lifelong for me and I need to just deal with that. I have been supporting adrenals since 2003 but not with hydrocortisone (other than creams once in awhile). I had been changing my diet, taking herbs and supplements, and the biggest help was adrenal supplements specifically Dr. 's Adrenal rebuilder. It helped a lot because I was at deaths door. From the very first pill I felt my stomach instantly warm up. Keep in mind I was very, very ill at 93 temperature at times and never above 95. I would be bed ridden for weeks at times and would have the chills where I was literally shaking all the time. Also had tremors and paralysis which in 2001 led me to a neurologist who said I have a whole body illness and we started working on stuff for MS and other issues. However, I now believe it is all related to my mercury poisoning and how it killed my adrenals. No more paralysis or tremors (sometimes shakes if my sodium/potassium balance is off) and rarely do I have hypoglycemic issues since limiting my glycemic foods and stick to good carbs. I haven't had a blackout since 2004 and I used to have them weekly, sometimes daily. However, as far as getting " well " I think 2005 was a pretty good year then the past two have not been good as I have been getting worse again. So, that is why I started on Isocort which I have only been taking for a week or so now. I also just started DHEA since 7-Keto I guess was not enough for me. I have done the progesterone cream on and off for a few years based on symptoms and changes. I am hoping the Isocort and then adding T3 will help me get to the next phase of healing. 's adrenal rebuilder did help a lot (also has thyroid support in it) but it was not enough to get me where I need to be. I talked to him about this and normally it takes about 2 years for someone like me, but since I am at the 4 year mark, I knew I needed more. He agreed but wasn't sure what more I could do since I was already following the program so strictly...other than adding steroids which I was reluctant to do for awhile. So, I am now trying Isocort and if I need more will try Cortef. Based on my symptoms, I have had adrenal disease at least since age 11 so no wonder I am at the stage I am at. I do know that whenever I would get a slight infection, I would get severe pain in my adrenals and would have to take extra Kombu and adrenal rebuilder and I would be fine. Changing my diet to pro-adrenal supporting foods helped too. I really don't know what is in Kombu that helps me so much...the iodine, the sea salt, or what...but I had an infection in 2002 where I lost my voice for two weeks, had an upper respiratory infection that progressed to pneumonia...and after taking huge amounts of Kombu I got my voice back in 24 hours and my lung infection and goiters went away within a few days. I also take it before flying because of the radiation exposure. Kombu absorbs radiation and protects your body. The Japanese used it after we bombed Hiroshima to protect them from radiation poisoning. Now, on the gallbladder issue, supporting the liver helps because they work together. http://www.liverdoctor.com/index.php?page=liver-problems & subpage=gall-bladde r Bile is the concern there. I have had many, many gallbladder attacks (a couple very severe that most people would have gone and had surgery for). However, I learned that gallbladder surgery should be avoided if at all possible because we need our gallbladders and the liver will still get stones without a gall bladder. Some docs dispute that, but I have talked to numerous patients like me who get liver stones. I have done some natural things to break up my stones and pass them. Organic apple juice and lemon has helped. I still have a lot but no attacks for at least 3 years and once in awhile get a slight pain then do more liver and gall bladder support things. The main thing is, whether it is gall bladder or liver, the cause is a toxic liver so that needs to be addressed ongoing. I actually googled on how to break up the stones and detox that. I think one site I used back then was curezone.com which you can search for " gallbladder " . I never did their cleanses with the oils and stuff because I felt my adrenals could not handle it, but I did and still do the ongoing herbal parasite cleanse which works well and I do colon cleanses (gentle ones) ongoing. Haven't tried their liver cleanse but do herbal support for that. Cheri RE: Re: exercise Cheri, I've been having this back pain on and off and I am wondering how long you've been supporting your adrenals? Guest guest
This is how I determine for myself when it is my adrenals versus the liver/gallbladder. Liver and gallbladder normally starts in front below the rib (right side) and may radiate back...but it will be stronger in front. And you can have both liver and gallbladder stones. Adrenals start in back..they are strongest in back and if the pain radiates forward it is lesser in front. At least this has been my experience. Since I have both adrenal glands the pain is on both sides of the back but if it is only the right side and you have both glands--it could likely be the liver/gallbladder instead. The general area of both is about the same (under the rib cage) but again, does the pain start and the strongest on your back or the front of the torso? The other thing is, since the liver is the largest detoxing organ, if you have adrenal issues, I could almost guarantee you have liver issues. Cheri Re: exercise sorry to but in here,,but i have the saem pains also for years now,,feels like adrenal pain, and i just found out i have stones to. . High pulse, fluid retention, round face, hump on the bock of the neck. High blood sugar. Most of these take several weeks to manifest. Which is why it is SO important to graph temps while raising HC. Guest guest
The way I found out I had stones was by eating a high fat meal. In my case, I was enjoying a rare bowl of ice cream. High fat content foods stimulate a protein that sends a message to your gallbladder to release bile. When the gallbladder releases the bile, stones either block or try to pass into the bile duct causing severe pain. Believe me, you'll know! My husband is starting to feel this same pain. At first I thought about gallbladder, but now I'm not so sure with him. It doesn't run in his family as it did with mine. Since I don't have a gallbladder, my gastro doc thinks it's just fibromyalgia related. Oh well. I wonder what he'll have to say on Thursday. I'm having to go back because my stomach isn't emptying foods very well. Good luck to you! jasrich wrote: That is exactly where my pain is - just under the lower most rib on the right side and wrapping around towards the back. Guest guest
Cheri, Thanks for you response. I'll be saving it to refer to later on. I know I have sludge that needs to be addressed. But with the rest of my digestive system no operating so well, it is difficult because things are not moving as they should. Food is staying in my stomach too long and at night it is the worst even though I eat a light evening meal. I'm taking whole food supplements just to keep my nutrition up including some probiotics and enzymes, bile salts and digestive aids. It's not working though. So it's time to go back and let these docs give me an idea of what they see inside me if anything. My back pain apparently is adrenal related because as soon as I stress dosed, it was greatly, GREATLY relieved. Wish I could say the same for the pain underneath my right bottom rib. There's also a feeling of fullness there like my liver is swollen, but when they did an MRI, everything came back normal...including my gallbladder which I haven't had since 1994! LOL It was a cut-and-paste error when the report was being prepared. But I thought it was funny. I was going to make a million dollars with the National Enquirer! Woman miraculously grows back gallbladder! LOL Anyhoo. Thanks for your response. I do appreciate it! MsSquarepants wrote: , Is your back pain high up like above the kidneys, middle, or lower? I'm asking because I'd like to know if I'll ever be able to wean off HC and stay off HC. They found some stones in April and I just completed a gastric emptying study today. . Guest guest
Hey val I have a question regarding the saliva test for Cushings. I am confident my husband has Cushings; has round face, big fatty tissue on back of neck, diabetes, high bloodl pressure. So I need to know when I order his saliva test what do I ask for? I want to order it for him as his VA doc won't do it cause their labs do not use that test. Blut he said order it, he would look at it. I also want diagnose from the lab that does the test. Also I am ordering a saliva test for my grandaughter, as I'm sure she has adrenal problems. She has had IBS, hypoglycemia, been diagnosed with auto-immune where she gets bad hives, the body attacks itself I guess or any food they may think is foreign. She has been in hospital more than once because of hives on face and throat. She also now has been diagnosed with diverticulitis last time in hospital with the hives and stomach pain and nausea. What do I ask for from the website for her saliva test??? Want to make sure I get the right tests on my husband and grandaughter. The saliva test sure helped me tremendously, I know it diagnosed me correctly as the HC is doing wonders for me right now, but know I have a long way to go. A saliva test will tell if he is high in cortisl all the time, but for a diagnosis to be made oyu only need the total amount of cortisol. I am not sure how accurate a saliva test would be for high cortils but it would show it. NO LAB will give you a doagnosis based on their testing. That is a doctor's position that interprets the labs. Which is another reaspn to use testing the doctor is familiar wiht . -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
