I drink decaf iced tea with splenda to sweeten it.... I really enjoy it hot or

cold to be honest :)

Giving up Carbonation

The hardest thing for me if I am able to have surgery will be giving

up my diet pepsi's. I know that water is the primary source of

fluid after surgery, but what about Iced Tea? I use Splenda to

sweeten my iced tea and I wondered if it will be ok to drink in

moderation. What can we drink? I hear about water, protein drinks,

and gatorade.

Just trying to be prepared.

Stacie - Gatorade is loaded with sugar and is really only drunk if your

electrolytes are too low after surgery. Tea is OK in moderation, but some

people who are susceptible to kidney stones may get them from drinking tea.

Crystal Light is another good choice. And you might get used to the water, and

find that you actually crave it. Don't fret. You can always let the Diet Pepsi

go flat and then drink it. Yuck?!

Colas, tea, same, same.

Still brown liquids, still interferes with calcium absorption and can aim toward

kidney stones. It's not " never " , so much as " in moderation " .

Ok, apparently you & I have different ideas about what moderation means when it

comes to your Diet Coke habit. :)

Moderation. I HATE that word. Can I just have it NOT apply to me?

I igure one per day is way, way better than 3 per day. Super Size? Yes? Do I

get points??

I've tried all the Diet Teas and to put it bluntly .. YUCK! They're way too

strong and have really artifical tastes, to me. Regular tea bags, caffeine

free or otherwise, brewed with one packet of Splenda for sweetening works for

me too.

You two crack me up. To think you're sitting next to each other responding

like this. Keeps me entertained. Hmmmm someone told me before my surgery no

brown liquids. Can't remember who...but she was at Dr. Oh's office and

talked to a few of us before our surgeries LMAO. Well I do remember but just

not gonna mention any names.

Actually , I think it's something " inborn " within us.

However, I will say that Terry is certainly a mother, and I use that
