Hi Jim,

Thanks for your response to my post. If you don't mind sharing can you feel

me in on a few things?

Did your TG go down sinificantly after the first ablation and then rise back up

or was there an uptake issue with the first ablation?. May I ask how much RAI

was used and how much are they planning on using this time? Do you know

your current TSH? We are schedule for our ablation doses on the same day if

my TSH gets high enough. Are you on the LID to prepare for the best RAI

uptake as possible?

Here's to a great uptake and ablation!

Debbie:

My first abablation of 100mc of I-131 took place on October 23, 2001, following

the TT in late August 2001. I started out on .05 synthroid, subsequently

increased to .075, .01 and now I am on .125.

On October 23, 2001, the TSH was 4.08 (as it turns out not near high enough for

the I-131 to do its job effectively - I only found out within the last week or

so what the TSH level was at the time of the first ablation)

On December 19, 2001, the TSH was .07, while the Tg was 72.8.

On March 27, 2002 the TSH was 2.23, while the Tg was 37.5.

On May 31, 2002 the TSH was .53, while the Tg was 15.2.

On July 2, 2002 the TSH was 25.6 (of synthroid for four weeks and cytomel for

two weeks), while the Tg was 126.

On September 16, 2002 the TSH was .96, while the Tg was 100.

On October 8, 2002, my TSH was 18.6, while the Tg is not back yet.

As I noted above, the first ablation " may not " have done much good because of

the low TSH levels at the time and the possibility that not enough RAI was taken

up by the thyroid remenant. This time we are waiting for the levels to climb so

as to get maximum uptake. I am trying to follow a LID. If the ablation goes

ahead on October 28, I will have been of my synthroid for six weeks and my

cytomel for 4 weeks. I am scheduled for blood work this coming Monday so we

should now if the TSH levels are climbing as we hope. I do not believe I am not

feeling any hypo effects (I also did not feel hypo at the time of the first

ablation in October 2001 or at the time of my FBS in July 2002), which seems to

puzzle me?

Good luck!!

Cheers, Jim

Mallika,

I had my second myomectomy in 5 years this past October. I don't want a

hysterectomy and would have a 3rd myo in another 5 years if I have to. - A

great benefit of this online group is the multitude of experiences we share with

each other. This includes the women's experiences with alternatives to hysts,

which includes myomectomies and other medical procedures. The UAE sounds

interesting enough to explore further, but since my only experience has been

myos, I'll let the other women speak on this subject.

Good luck.

Joyce

(unknown)

Hi,

I'm new to the group. I'm 30 yrs old. I had an abdominal

myomectomy 8 years ago when 37 fibroids were removed. My fibroids

are back with a vengeance. My uterus is now the size of a 20-22

week pregnancy. The next step the gynecs recommend is a

hysterectomy. But they do say I should try postponing it as long

as possible, at least till I'm 40!!! Though, I don't have

abnormally heavy bleeding, I can't imagine living with all this

back pain and discomfort for the next 10 years.

Any suggestions?

Mallik

Thanks Joyce,

I'll certainly ask my doc about more myos. Meanwhile, can anyone

comment on the problems experienced after a hyst, if the ovaries

are left intact?

Welcome! Many of us have felt like you do. All you can do is take it a day at a

time. If you have to, take it an hour at a time. If you are feeling bad about

the gym membership, then try to go once. Stay for how ever many minutes you can

deal with. Promise yourself that you will give it more than one try. Go three

times and see how it feels. This is hard, really hard but the alternative is

worse. We're all out here and will help you along as best we can. Jinx

(unknown)

Well, I am new here so I thought I should introduce myself. My name

is , I am almost 25 yrs old. Married with 3 children and we

live in Denver, Co.

Of course like most woman I have put on weight with each child. I am

a SAHM and I am not very active. I couldn't tell you how much I weigh

as I am afraid to get onto a scale. Last time I weighed myself I was

close to 190 pounds... OMG it even hurts to type it. Anyway,

although I don't feel skinny, I certainly don't feel as big as I

really am. Did that make sense??

A friend of mine gave me a photo that she had taken of me posing with

my kids at easter. I took one look at the photo and wanted to shred

it up into tiny pieces. How could I have let myself go so far???? I

honestly don't see how my husband can even look at me.

I NEED to lose weight. I can't seem to find the motivation to go for

longer than a month. I paid nearly $300 for a Lady Fitness

membership just over a year ago. I worked out hard, 4 days a week 1.5

hrs each time. Guess how much weight I lost in 4 months?? 2 POUNDS!

Talk abut a letdown. I guess I am in the frame of mind now that no

matter how much I work out, the weight is not going anywhere. So I

rarely go there anymore... My 3 year membership is wasting away.

They don't give refunds.

How do I get out of this hole???

Welcome! I'm Gena, 38, married almost 20 yrs, with 2 girls 19 and 13

yrs old. We live in Alaska. I know exactly how you feel about the

weight! You sound just like me! I used to cry and cry because I didn't

know how hubby could stand to look at me none the less touch me. Thing

is, I finally realized, my weight is not WHO I am. You have to love

yourself on the inside in order to care enough to take care of

yourself. When I got pregnant with my 19 yr old I was 128, I am 5'3 " .

At my heaviest I was 284 (Oct 2000). So far I am 208. It doesn't matter

what is in the past. The thing is what you do now. Just work on

lifestyle, habits and behaviors. Making little changes like watching

portions, eating off of smaller plates, taking smaller bites, chewing

thoroughly, parking farther away, taking steps instead of elevators,

drinking more water, ect... it all adds up! It has to be a new

lifestyle, things you can keep doing or the weight wont stay off. I

hope to hear more from you.

Start with using that membership! I guarantee that getting there is

half the battle. Once you are there, you may as well workout. :-) Just

take it slow, build up gradually. Patience and consistency are very

important. Going 3-4 times a week for 20 min is better then none at

all. I workout at home and my thing is 10 minutes. I tell myself get

on the tread for 10 min and once I'm on there, 9 out of 10 times, I go

more. It really is the getting going that is the hardest part. Getting

out of " that hole " you ask? You have to believe you are worth it and

that this is what you really want. Don't just think about it for the

weight loss. Think about it as taking care of yourself to be healthy,

to live longer, to feel good and to be there for your kids. You can do

this! We will be here for you!

yourself on the inside in order to care enough to take care of

The small fruit and yougurt parfait is good, 3 or 4 pts I think. Also a

grilled chicken with no bun or mayonasse is tasty as well

Hi there,

I spend alot of time there too with my 4 year old, even though I live in

southern Calif.--it's a confined area and when I don't feel like chasing him

all over the park, I go to Mc's.

Two things I do (besides the salad thing):

1) Bring my own food and drink coffee while I buy him the hamburger kid's

meal

2) Get the small yogurt parfait, only 3 points on that Dotti's weight loss

restaurant chart and then bring some

fruit of your own or maybe a meal bar

I used to buy the salad shakers because they weren't too many points but now

they are discontinued

Hope that helps...

(unknown)

I spend a lot of time in Mcdonalds with my four year old. I am going

to college at 36 so I can have a new career when both my little ones

are in school full time. I need a place to let her run climb and

scream while I can study. We live in Minnesota so outdoor play is

almost over and its a bit too cold even now for my seven month old.

So its the coffee shop that has a good play area (not much better in

calories though lol) and Mickie D's. I do the side salad with light

basalmic dressing even using the fork into the dressing method but it

gets old lol. Just wanted to know if there are any ticks of the

trade I wasnt thinking of for the golden arches.

We went throught this thread when the flex plan was first introduced.

The answer is

" it's not clear " . WW recommends that if you routinely earn more then 4

AP's per day,

to consult a nutritionist. I routinely earn 4.5 AP's a day and eat them.

On days where

I do more then that, I'll try to eat only 4 or 5. ... but I think this

is up to you - experiment

and see what works best for your satisfaction and weight loss.
