Dear Rita,

It is a quiet day for some reason. I just got on late this afternoon and

tonight. Not much! Our 8 year old daughter was in a talent show at her

school. She did a beautiful job. I am very proud she did it. She is VERY

shy. We went out tonight to celebrate a great job. Tommorrow she makes her

First Reconciliation. It is great when a child shines. God bless the

children. I know he blesses the parents with them. Until they are 13 or so

and then it is a different story And believe me they are great and I love

them so much too. But it is a different ballgame! And I don't even flinch

until they want to pierce their........ Yes! Yikes!

Rita I really wanted to tell you what a sweetheart you are. I enjoy your

posts. You have had PLS for 30 years? I have had it for 19(20) years. Do you

have problems in arms and legs, voice and swallowing? Well I just wanted to

say Hi! Have a wonderful weekend. Goodnight,Rita.

Me Too! Rita.....I was thinking I lost PLS-Friends again. It was a

nightmare. I am on AOL. I had so many people (those whose names I had) trying to

get

me back in. I think it was who finally put me back into it, by signing me

up for mail from people who communicated about cats. Yes, you read me right.

I still have them in my Yahoo server. I'm afraid to take it out. I, like

you, thought I lost my " Friends. " I really hope not. Well, the best we can do

is wait. I will add you to my address book just in case. This way we can

mail each other. Connie

Hi :

Thank you for saying such a nice thing about me, that was very sweet of

you. I know how special it is when we have a child do something special

like Reconciliation. I have a grandson born in July and is finally

going to be Baptized in January. Seems like in some cases these events

are not to important. This drives me crazy. Oh well, we can't live our

children's lives for them.

Yes approximately 30 years. I am one of the lucky one's. My biggest

problem has always been balance and getting up from a sitting position.

My lift chair was my first apparatus purchased, I am now on my second

chair. I truly feel by trying to control the stress in my life, has

helped me maintain the level of progression that I have with PLS.

Now I am almost 68, and I feel that age has contributed to my

condition, along with my weight. Up until a year ago I managed very

well with just my walker, but then, after a very stressful incident in

my life, I never bounced back. Now I can't walk on my own, and use my

walker and power chair. I have very little weakness in my arms. As for

speech I really don't have to much of a problem. Only if I get over

tired, then I start slurring my words. There are times when I choke,

but thats my own fault for not avoiding things that make me choke, like

seeded bread, peanuts and things like that. Plus I have a partial plate

(that I hate) and my food doesn't get chewed properly at times(now you

know all about my spare parts). So thats about it as far as me and how

I deal with having PLS.

So thanks again for your kind words!

Rita

Luv & Hugs!

Sandy, I find that I sleep very hard and hardly move at night so getting up

in the morning I am very stiff. I use to use a soft pillow but got a firmer

one. It evaluates my neck to a more level angel and it

helped..............Flora

Hurry up Spring.

Rita heres a thaught you have 2 seperate e-mail addresses and you are trying to

sign into the group using the both of them and the same user name thats

problably why your having problems it recognizes the old one and not the new one

so you need to quit with the old one andf join again using the new one

??????????? I dont think it will recognize both GEO

(unknown)

I want to thank every one who responded to my request to write to me

at my new address mamadee1@..., it sure helped. I sure hope it is

worth the effort. I can still use this address, but won't only

occasionally.

and Mark: Thanks for helping me get back to PLS Friends. I have

had lots of problems with getting back, keeps rejecting my new address

and password. I have been sitting here for 2 hours (almost to the point

of tears) trying.

Maybe tomorrow will be thinking better. Please respond to my new

address.

Hi sue.

I was diagnosed very young and also they found a tumor on my ovaries at 20.

I too feel the same because my chances are even slimmer than most. I just

think that there is a reason why this has happened and maybe that is not my

destiny. Try to stay positive for you that might not be the case.

Hi Sue,

I was diagnosed at age 9, I have 3 children now. I had tottally normal

pregnancies, in fact my doc told me he wished all his patients pregnancies went

as smooth as mine did.

Hi I have just been diagnosed with IGAN. I was devasted to learn that it will

probably mean I will not be able to have children. I would like to hear from

anyone that has had children with the disease.

Welcome to the group Sue.

It may or it may not. You will see that there are many women with IgAN who

did have children successfully. On the other hand, as the list-owner, I feel

a responsibility to say that this doesn't mean you should ignore your

doctor's recommendation when the time comes. There are many variables to

consider.

Good luck.

I'm only in my early 20's and was just diagnosed two years ago. My nephs have

all been positive that some day I may just be able to carry children. Not now

due to all the meds, but some day in the future. So don't give up hope just

yet. You never know what miracle, big or small, God may send your way. Jen
