Stacie,

I finally looked at your website and she is a doll. It does make me feel guilty

though because I didn't do the traditional birthday with either of them. My mil

wouldn't compromise at all in any way and if I wasn't willing to have the party

at her house on Kaija's birthday with her friends then she wouldn't participate

at all. Things have gotten a lot better since then but it has been hard. Also

Kaija has always been afraid of her so it makes it very difficult. Lexi looks

much more Korean than my children. Zaid is blond. It is so interesting how the

genes show up.

Thanks so much for telling us that. My children are 1/4 Korean ( my husband

is 1/2) That sounds similar to titty and I could easily move it to that. I

think that is so wonderful. I always love learning more about Korean

culture. Thanks again.

Wendi >>

Oh wow Wendi, my daughter is also 1/4 but to me she looks more Korean than

that. Is it your husband's mother, or father that is full Korean?? I hope for

your sake, it is his father....LOL! Mine is my MIL, and OH could I tell you

some stories of a HUGE culture clash......LOL! If you would like you can go

to my webpage and see the outfit that she wore for her 1yr birthday! The URL

is: http://members.aol.com/tddybear3/LexiPage2.htm

I think that is the right one....

I also would like for Lexi to learn as much as she can about her heritage, I

think it is a beautiful culture. I keep trying to get my husband to speak to

her in Korean, but he won't do it, he says it is hard for him to speak Korean

to her, when we usually speak English here at home. But so if he won't do it,

I am going to go and buy a few Korean tapes and play them all the time. I

would really like for her to be able to know it.

Hope we can talk more soon, it sounds like we have alot in common

Martha,

I just want to comment on the whole it feels good to nurse thing..YES

it does and anyone who says that it is child abuse is a sicko. I feel

pleasure when nursing BUT it does not turn me on. What it does do is

relax me.

Maybe he was not nursed as a child.

I agree with you, I feel real pleasure when I sit down and nurse b/c I

know she is getting the best food in whole world for her. I also take

pleasure in knowing that we are creating this special bond that will be there

forever and ever no matter what.

Well aren't you lucky. My mil lives about 2 miles away. Yes she is very

place on numerous occasions. If you get a pic of you mil to show Lexi, she

might not be as frightened. I just did that with my sister and her husband.

Zaid was only mildly nervous around them and then warmed right up. He had a

picture of them for about 5 months.

Wendi

>>

Yeah I am pretty lucky to have to only see her once or twice at the most a

year......But she still finds way to degrade me, and what not over the phone,

so I just don't talk to her anymore.....I let Dh do it!

And I do have a picture of her up on the wall, and Lexi will walk over and

say Gama, so she does know who she is, but I am worried that when she

actually sees her, and sees how loud she is, she will be frightened!

And unless she comes over soon, like this summer, I know Lexi won't get to

see her until she is over 2yo.

Because MIL WON'T come over here in the winter, so if Lexi is going to see

her before she turns to it will have to be this summer!

And about you putting MIL in her place, How does your Dh do when you do that??

So far, mine has told me, DO NOT.....sass back to her.....Well I did one time

and he did ok, but he gets VERY Defensive of his mother.

Due to her, demanding his respect since he was a child!

Well respect does not come so easy with me, you have to EARN it with me! I

respect her as HIS MOTHER, but she has to earn it, for me to respect her as

anything other than that!

But OH there have been SEVERAL times I would have like to just tell her where

to take it.

But I haven't, even right now, when I am trying to deal with the fact she has

not taken the effort to come and see her first grandaughter....And I would

LOVE to say something to her about it, but I am afriad of how Dh would react

to that.....!!

Thanks Wendi, I am glad you liked it, it needs some work, but it is

ok....LOL! And Oh I am sorry for you, but don't feel guilty at least they

got a party =)......At least I have ONE thing on my side, and that is that

MIL lives 3000 miles away in Hawaii, and in fact she had YET to even SEE

Lexi........But she did insist that we have her wear the tradional dress for

her birthday. So I had one picture taken of her in it, and she was

satisfied......LOL! And I can understand Kaija, being afraid of her..... if

your MIL is ANYTHING like mine, with mine she can be VERY LOUD, and not to

" Kid Friendly " ......and this tend to scare the kids away. Even my DOG runs

away from my MIL......ROFL! And I am worried how Lexi will react to her when

she DOES finally get to meet her, especially since she is now almost 16

months old, and has never seen her before, and Lexi is now kind of getting

into that Stranger Anxiety Stage, she will be fine with strangers as long as

me or my husband are holding her....but as soon as we put her down she gets

scared........So I am sure having her loud big mouthed grandmother show up,

will just scare the pants off of her......LOL!

And as for her looking more Korean that has to do with the genes, and if your

son is blond than you obviously have a brown or black hair color, Which means

your son got the recessive gene from you and your husband.....It is like 2

dark haired people can make a blond haired baby, but 2 blond people can not

make a dark haired baby.......Now with me, both of my parents have dark hair,

yet my Gramma had Auburn so I got my moms recessive genes, and Lexi got her

dads Dominant gene........I think I got that right.....been awhile since I

was in Biology Class......LOL!! But yes it can be funny the way the genes

show up!

Thanks again!

Yes, that's a real one... the Australian hold. Its particularly effective

for mothers with forceful let-downs and for babies who choke and sputter at

the breast. I've used this, plus a variation with the baby's feet by my

belly/hips too.

With mom on her back and the baby on top, it gives the baby more control of

the flow.

I've also used a variation of a football hold... I was lying on my back,

and had the baby " sitting " beside me on his knees while he nursed on top.

I did this in the hospital just after my son was born, and at one day old

when he needed to burp, he only had to roll his head or lift it slightly.

He did it in front of my nurse even, so I have witnesses. :)

As you said, whatever works!

Wow , Wish I would have known before about that! I was ALWAYS choking

Lexi when she was younger! And she would pull off, and i would be squirting

milk all over her face.....poor kid....lol

And we to do the sitting position one, usually it happens in the middle of

the night, or first thing in the morning.....when I don't want to roll over

to do it .....LOL!!
