Martha,

It always makes me sad to hear stories like that. I was so blessed when I was

working because I worked in the NICU and we had an actual pumping room for the

parents of the premies. I got sit in a rocker and use the double pump. I still

wished I would have nursed my daughter longer and feel that I weaned because of

lack of support. Thanks for sharing.

Wendi

Re: name question

From: Fafahahema@...

Wendi,

I did nurse my older one for about 3 1/2 months. When I returned to work my

milk supply diminished b/c of NO support from my coworkers and my employer.

It was kinda hard pumping in the bathroom stall sitting on the toilet with no

seat and having your coworkers b*tch and complain about me getting a 20 min

break or so twice aday and they didn't get on. It was just a horrible

experience for me working and pumping. That is one of the MANY reasons I

decided to become a SHAM.

Martha,

It was me. That helps a lot. I definitely thought nun not noon. I like

noonies a lot. I guess I just like all the names for it.

Re: name question

From: Fafahahema@...

I don't remember who mentioned the fly nun, but last night after I signed off

I started thinking that maybe I spelled it wrong and you were pronouncing it

wrong....so let me clarify myself.....noonies not nunnies .....noonies as in

like that movie a long time ago called the Goonies?....does that help?

I think that person has the " issues " and needs serious help. That's

something else!

Off topic sort of...my 2 Daughter's 2 friends ages 17 and 16 went to our

local Fred Meyer grocery store this past weekend, and when they went out to

get into their car, they noticed a man sitting in his car next to them...get

this he was naked from the waist down & masturbating in full view of anyone

in the middle of the day...now if people want to call someone sick..this guy

is sick.

I know people masturbate, but in broad daylight in a busy parking lot.

If I would have been there without my children in the car I think I would

park behind his car and go call the manager of the store.

I'm just glad they weren't little kids.

And no they didn't call the police or anything. I think they were just too

surprised by the whole thing.

It's a colorful world filled with " funny birds "

I have thought this over and concluded:

If a child suckling at the breast was a sexual pleasure for the mother,

America would LEAD the nations in the number of children that were extended

bfed. As sexually oriented as the US is, we'd also lead in the number of

children bfed. As the fact is, we don't and I find ignorant fools that talk

trash like that are just that...ignorant fools.

They also treated many other nervous disorders with " paraxysmal (sp?) hysteria "

aka orgasm. That is how vibrators came into being. They were invented by male

doctors as tools to make their job easier.

Wendi

Re: name question

Martha,

There are many medical professionals who question whether or not a mother

gets pleasure from breastfeeding since one of the same hormones of orgasm

is also involved in breastfeeding. :) Of course, the same hormone is also

involved in labor (it contracts the uterus), but its role in breastfeeding

is the milk-ejection reflex, or let-down... and it's not an ongoing sense

of pleasure in that way, as I'm sure you can attest. :)

For what it's worth, doctors used to " relieve " a woman's migraine headaches

by giving them orgasms... that's where they say the term " hysterical "

originated. " Hyster " refers to the uterus (not sure if it's Latin), and

" hysterectomy " is surgical removal of uterus. Think about it! It was just

a bunch of men with nothing better to do than to think women weren't sexual

enough!

Steph,

Good idea! I looked it up and it comes from before 1100 and is mainly English,

German, Dutch and Norweigian descent. It means teat and isn't slang until used

to refer to a woman's breast. I believe the vulgar connotations come from

refering to a woman in animal terms. I personally feel that humans are just

another of Earth's animals and do not find it vulgar. Anyway that is the

derivation of the word.

Wendi

Re: name question

>anyone know the origin of calling breasts a " tit " ?

>

It might be of anglo-saxon origin. I know tit and titties was used in

anglo-saxon writings as early as 1400s (had to decipher a story written

for the English court). However, many anglo-saxon terms for body parts

were considered vulgar ever since the Norman invasion. So using them in

stories was sort of voyerism (sp?), at least that seemed to be the

impression I got. The term tits replaced or in addition to titties came

much later (I hazard to guess around 1800s). I studied word origins in

college, but this particular one was not part of the curriculum. :) For

more info, you could check an unabridged dictionary...it would probably

give the difinitive listing of usage <VBG>.
