Hello everyone,

Thank you for all the kind words today. I know I am not alone in this fight.

All of you are doing wonderful. We all do different things, but it all helps

our cause. I really needed those kind words today, I feel like I have been

run over by a truck! Didn't even see it coming!

Hugs to all

Hi Carlene,

I am so sorry to hear you had to take to the hospital again, I

am glad though that you got some responses that you could use for her

doctors. Please keep us posted on how is doing whenever you are

able, you and she are in my prayers.

Hugs,

Marta

Barbara,

I agree with .. It was demoralizing to have a doctor who didn't believe

this chronic disease and wasn't interested in treating it more aggressive. I

went through that myself. I hunted for a LLMD and switched to him.. I never

regretted doing that ever since.

Good luck. You deserve the treatment you need.

Barbara it is DEFINITELY time for you to get a NEW DOCTOR.

Hi beth,

I'm confused too. I do not think your post from the NIH should been CC:

to: CC: CCC@..., hm49x@...

One of my friends sent a copy of this whole post FROM an animal

rescue list that I am a part of. It is a list like this list ... except

for German Sheperd rescue.

I do not understand why that would happen.

jrlabbe@...

I’d like to thank you for at least considering my

response to Tom Hall's " Where was Granger " for

publication.

As you have probably discerned from my web site

there is controversy in the Lyme disease community

about treatment protocols.

One of the most recent controversies within the Lyme

victim community is the announced honoring of Dr.

Steere at The NIH Director's Second Astute

Clinician Lecture -- November 3, 1999, 3 p.m. Masur

Auditorium, NIH Clinical Center

The current vernacular now being used on

(onelist.com) and sci.med.diseases.lyme

(Deja.com) is Bum Steere (Dr. Steere), and Ah, Stupid

(Astute).

One of the participants (beth Feldman –

Item 1, below), sent an e-mail to NIH essentially

saying that as a Lyme disease victim, she objected to

Dr. Steere doing a presentation at NIH, and citing

reasons.

She then posted the response(s) received from NIH

(Item 2, below).

Why would her message generate a question about

security alerts? Maybe because paranoids have long

memories? See Item 3 below, from 1996, and Item 4

below, from 1995.

Thought you might get a chuckle, or maybe even an

article from it.

If you go the article route, an excellent collection

of web links on just about everything concerning Lyme

disease can be found at

http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Oasis/6455/lyme-links.html.

It contains over 4,100 categorized about Lyme disease.

Again, thank you for considering my response for

publication.

Gillian thought you would enjoy this one....

Calling in sick at work made him uncomfortable ... no matter how legitimate the

illness, he always senses his boss

thinks he’s lying. On one occasion, there was a valid reason, but he lied anyway

because the truth was too

humiliating. He simply mentioned that he'd sustained a head injury and hope to

feel better the next day. By then,

he'd be able to think up a doozy to explain the bandage on his crown. The

accident occurred mainly because Marv conceded to his wife’s wishes to adopt a

cute little kitty. Initially, the new acquisition was no problem at all, but one

morning Marv was in the shower after breakfast when Judy called out to him from

the kitche. " Marv! The garbage disposal is dead. Come reset it. "

" You know where the button is! " I protested through the shower (pitter-patter).

" Reset it yourself! "

" I'm scared, " she pleaded. " What if it starts going and sucks me in? " ‘C’mon,

it’ll only take you a minute. "

So, out he came -- dripping wet and buck naked hoping to make a statement about

how her cowardly behavior was not without consequence.

So, Marv crouched down and stuck his head under the sink to find the button. It

is the last action I remembered performing. It struck without warning, without

respect to my circumstances. Nay, it wasn’t a hexed disposal drawing me into its

gnashing metal teeth. It was our new kitten, clawing playfully at the dangling

objects she spied between my legs. She had been poised around the corner and

stalked me as I took the bait under the sink. At precisely the second I was most

vulnerable, she leapt at the toys I unwittingly offered and snagged them with

her needle-like claws.

Now -- when men feel pain or even sense danger anywhere close to their masculine

region, they lose all rational thought to control orderly bodily movements.

Instinctively, their nerves compel the body to contort inwardly, while

rising upwardly at a violent rate of speed. Not even a well-trained monk could

camly stand with his groin supporting the full weight of a kitten and rectify

the situation in a step-by –step manner.

Wild animals are sometimes faced with a " fight or flight " syndrome. Men, in this

predicament, choose on the " flight " option. Fleeing straight up, I knew at that

moment how the cat feels when it’s alarmed. It was a dismal irony. But, whereas

cats seek great heights to escape, I never made it that far. The sink and

cabinet bluntly impeded my ascent; the impact knocked me cold. When I awoke, my

wife and the paramedics stood over me. I had been fully briefed by my wife, the

paramedics snorted as they tried to conduct their work while suppressing their

hysterical laughter.

At the offices, colleagues tried to coax an explanation out of me about what was

wrong…but I kept quiet, claiming it was painful to talk about. " What’s the

matter, cat got your tongue? "

If only they had known....

Hi All,

Just wanted to take a minute to thank each & every one of you for being you &

being there...

Had to stay over at a relative's home on the way back from doc - without

internet access.

After that awful, frustrating visit & the fear that comes with uncertainty in

treatment, I was VERY unhappy! This, coupled with the fact that I could not

speak with my " lyme family " was just about completely overwhelming...

Anyone ever hear the Back Street Boys' song - " Show me the feeling of being

lonley? " I'm sure that's not what they had in mind when they wrote the

lyrics, but last night it made sense to me!

Funny, isn't it - how no one else understands what we go through??? Even

when they care with all their hearts, we get these blank stares like, " How

can this be happening? "

You're the best!

rons:

These sites will help you get some info. on Mycoplasmas and the diet.

http://www.rheumatic.org/main.htm

http://www.mercola.com

The first provides extensive information on the use of antibiotics and the

underlying theory for its use. The second link is to Dr. Mercola's site,

where you will be able to find his diet information. (If I remember right,

you can also find diet information from Mercola and Dr. on the first

site)

The first site also provides some " medical histories " , or testimonials, from

several people who have used the antibiotic therapy. It's a very encouraging

place to start, as it lets you see that others have been down the same road

and are doing quite well.

Yes, you are correct, the theory is that Mycoplasmas cause these illnesses

and that the antibiotics are capable of eliminating them from our system and

allowing our bodies to heal. As you read, you'll find that it is not an

overnight cure but, rather, a slow and steady climb back to health. The good

news is that there is an approach which offers all of us a realistic hope of

overcoming our particular malady.

Good luck with these sites. They should give you plenty of info. to get

started.

Take care.

Thank you to all of you who have sent me well wishes on my adventure in

Germany. Our whole family is looking forward to the experience. My husband

(Marc) has already been to Turkey and he bought us some beautiful Turkish

rugs to brighten our new home (which isn't to great, but since it is only

temporary we will make do). I hope to be able to keep our same aol acct. so

that I can stay in touch, but if we should have to change it I will let you

know. I am going to stay pos. that I can find the help that I need while over

there, but either way I plan to make the most of it. Right now my main

concern is how much weight I am going to put on with all those scrumptious

bakeries.....my big weakness....homemade bread. I still have a few days until

we fly, but I know that they are going to be busy and I didn't want to forget

to thank you for your support......I'll be back on as soon as I can get our

computer hooked up with Internet access.

Dear Tammy,

I've been off line quite a bit lately, so didn't have a chance to respond to

your posts, but just wanted to urge you NOT to wait - do what you're able to

get testing / treatment ASAP if you suspect lyme! Is there another doc

within a reasonable distance or someone who may help you get to another doc

at a greater distance?

Tammy,

There may be things you can begin to do for yourself while waiting. Like

getting off of sugar and maybe try colloidal silver. Lots of info on the

internet. CS has helped me some with lyme when my other antibio are failing.

You deserve a proper diagnosis and proper treatment. If your current care
