Guest guest
Ok guys, pre-dinner was 65, 3.6. ate the pizza/cereal.... 2 hour post was 165, 9.6. prior to bed I was 85, 4.7. This morning when waking I was 206, 11.4, so I will not be eating breakfast and breaking the high sugar. Today I dust off and get back on the saddle! Guest guest
Okay, I really blew it tonight for dinner. I went to an Italian restaurant for dinner. He gave picachia bread, then pieces of pizza bread with mozerella cheese and dish of marina sauce and then I had spinach ravoli for dinner as well as a salad. I couls not et much of every thing as mystomach only allows so much, but I am afraid to do a blood sugar for at least another hour (let the insulin I took take effect.). Re: your blood sugar results pre-supper bs reading 118. carbs consumed80-90. Yeah, I know, but I was partying with catfish, slaw and hushpuppies. Humalog 23 units afterwards. Guest guest
Dave, I have always split dosed lantus to get rid of the over night low. I was always having to get up 3 am and check and got tired of it. Guest guest
wow Brett... great numbers! Regards, Re: your blood sugar results Hi, Mid norning snack was a cookie with 12 grams of carbs, no insulin used. Pre lunch was 4.9 (88). A tuner and Cheese sandwich and a snack bar for lunch, 32 carbs, so 6 units. Post lunch 6.1, (109). This is a great way to keep motivated, so far a good day, wish they could all be this good! Guest guest
jen, yes this makes sense, i was always afraid of overcorrecting if i did this. will give this some serious thought, thanks, karen from canada Re: your blood sugar results To: blind-diabetics > jen, when you take your two hour blood sugar > after a meal and it is high would you do the correction then or > wait till you do your lunch insulin. thanks, karen __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 4250 (20090716) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 4253 (20090717) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com
Guest guest
many thanks, this is something i never did before nor did i realize this to be possible. will try it, karen from canada RE: your blood sugar results Well, my day seems terrible compared to all of you! I woke up at 7.6 (137 mg/dl), took 3.55 units of insulin to cover 30 grams of carbs. I was 15.6 (281 mg/dl) after breakfast and corrected with 3.8 units of insulin. Before lunch I was 6.9 (124 mg/dl) and took 2.1 units of insulin to cover 25 grams of carbs (a sandwich on Weight Watchers bread and some sliced strawberries). About an hour after lunch I ate another 10 grams of carbs and took 0.9 units of insulin to cover them. About an hour after this my class ended and I went to the coffee shop for a short half hour lunch break. I tested at 10.2 (184 mg/dl) and had a latte and half a brownie which was 40 grams of carbs in total. I took 4.4 units to cover this. Two hours after this I was at 11.1 (200 mg/dl) and took a unit to correct this, since I still had lots of insulin on board. At this point I figured I've been spiking after meals so changed my I:C ratio from 1:11 to 1:10. I'm pretty sure hormones are mucking me up because my blood sugars have been much more erratic these past few days even though I'm eating fewer carbs! Two hours later I met with classmates to work on a group project. I would be on campus for another few hours but because it was after 5:00 nothing was open. I hadn't planned on staying late, but we have assignments due at the end of the week so needed to meet, so I had no kind of dinner packed. I was starving so had a 25 gram granola bar. The granola bar actually had no nutritional information on it but most seem to be 25 grams of carbs so this is what I bloused for, taking only 1.6 units because I had insulin on board and my blood sugar at this time was 4.9 (88 mg/dl). Two hours later I was down to 2.9 (52 mg/dl) so ate about 15 grams of Skittles. About half an hour after this I also had another latte which was 25 grams of carbs, another guestimate. I took 2.5 units to cover this. Now, about 45 minutes later, I am having an extremely late dinner. I still have lots of insulin on board but will bolus 3.6 units for a hamburger that my family has saved. I will test in two hours or so which will also be my before-bed reading. I do not plan on eating anything else today, so that is a total of 190 grams of carbs. That is pretty good for a day when I'm out of the house for almost 12 hours straight!! I will try to aim for lower tomorrow. I also hope my blood sugars are more stable tomorrow because this is pretty unstable compared to what I've been getting for the past few months, seems to be hormone-related, however, as it happens every few weeks it seems and I need to change basal rates and carb ratios to get things sorted out. Guest guest
Hi, Okay, to finish off the day, post lunch was 7.9. Dinner was 7.1. I had some sushi and estimated it at 45 grams of carbs, so dosed 9 units. Post dinner was 13.1 so under estimated the sushi I think. I don't like to correct near bed time so jumped on the Tready in stead. Bed time was 6.5. Had 137 grams of carbs for the day, I aim for 80 but usually end up between 80 and 100. Cheers, Brett. Guest guest
Hi, I split mine for the following two reasons: 1. monitoring my insulin to carb ratio indicated that I had a higher ratio at dinner time which suggested the Lantus was waring off. 2. I use to swet like a pig at night. Since splitting my dose, I don't get the swets and my insulin to carb ratio is now steady through out the day. Cheers, Brett. Then I injected 25 units of Lantus. This morning my fasting glucose level was 86. For breakfast I ate a cup of strawberry yogart and drank two cups of blacbblack coffee. Then I injected 11 units of Humalog and 25 units of Lantus. next up a two hour post bs reading. Guest guest
Thanks . I forgot something. For breakfast this morning I also had a fresh Georgia peach along with the strawberry yogart. I guess it was a total of 37-38 grams of carbs. Guest guest
Friday morning, July 17: 3:20 AM: 153. 2 units of Humalog to compensate for slight high. 6:35: wake up; 70. 3 or 4 ounces grape juice to raise bg and hold me until breakfast. Didn't need the 2 units in middle of night since it would have dropped to 80-90 range on its own. More evidence that splitting bedtime Lantus might be worth trying. 7:20: pre-breakfast, 120. Breakfast of 1/3 cup old fashioned oatmeal, 1/2 cup blueberries, honey, cinnamon, and milk, plus moderate portion of walnuts. And coffee with French Vanilla and 1 sugar cube. 13 units of Humalog since slightly elevated (I like to be under 100 for oatmeal breakfasts which are Mon., Wed., and Fri.). 8:45: 98. Will be in meeting until after 10, so early check before leaving house. More grape juice, 1 saltine sandwich peanut butter cracker, and 1 miniature bite-size Snickers. 10:43: 77. 2 saltine chunky peanut butter crackers, 3 or 4 ounces grape juice. Handful of dry roasted peanuts also between now and lunch. Dave A wise man's heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction.
