Ok all, this morning my blood sugar was 370. I am not kidding.

Last evening prior to my post I had a meal with pasta and I had to dose quite a

bit of humalog to cover it. At my two hour post, I was dropping low so had to

eat a decent amount of glucose which in turn, over the night as I slept, caused

me to spike to 370 so I won't be eating anything until I break the high.

So, I dosed enough humalog to come down and am drinking water. Water helps our

cells be more receptive to insulin and helps break highs.

Never eat when you are high since it just feeds the high sugar, break the high,

then eat healthy meats and healthy veggies.

Hi,

Okay, this will be a great motivator, so I will jump on board the blood sugar

challenge, although I'm not yet attempting the Normalization diet, just trying

to stick to my 80 grams of carbs per day. However, I may do, after getting an

idea of peoples meal plans.

Time to stop rambling and get down to the real issue.

Morning BSL 6.2 (112), Breakfast was three eggs and a little light Swiss cheese.

Cheers,

Brett.

pre-dinner was 140, 7.7

two hour post was 82, 4.5.

snack prior to crashing for the night - slice of smoked turkey wrapped around a

mozzarella cheese stick - both microwave for 20 seconds to slightly melt the

cheese. Dipped in brown spiced mustard for flavor!

I must say, it was pretty good!

I'll post my sugar in the morning.

btw tip - take 1 unit of humalog when rising to counter the dawn effect.

Hi,

Pre lunch was 7.1, don't really understand why it's that high, but... Tuner

salad for lunch anyway.

Good morning guys,

This morning when I got up I was 130, 7.1.

I dosed 3 units of humalog to come down and didn't eat anything yet.

Once the high comes down I am going to eat breakfast.

For breakfast I'll have 3 scrambled eggs lightly sprinkled with shredded cheddar

cheese, steamed green peppers cut up in it and topped with a pinch of parmasaun

cheese and a cup of coffee.

I think total carbs for that meal is around 4 grams. However, those 4 grams are

not quick acting, they are slow acting.

I'll dose 3 units of humalog to cover the meal.

My pre-meal will be at or around 83, 4.5. I'll post my two hour test results

which should always be under 120, 6.6.

Glad to see you posting Brett. One thing that I have found is key to not getting

board with the Dr B diet is to season things. It doesn't take much to add

variety. For example, if you eat eggs for breakfast, each day jazz them up with

any spice you can think of. Just don't eat eggs plain... that will quickly cause

bordem *grin*.

For example...

Monday - hot sauce

tuesday - mushrooms/green peppers

Wednesday - cheddar cheese

Thursday - italian spices

Friday - parmesan cheese

Saturday - chili spice for some heat!

Sunday - cinnamon

This concept applies to any food you eat be it chicken breast, hot dogs, steak,

hamburger, etc.

Don't be afraid to be creative with what you season food with!

Let's see if I can start over again today.

This morning my blood sugar was 7.6 or 137.

For breakfast I had a bowl of high-fibre cereal with milk for a total of 30

grams of carbs, and also had a piece of cheese for protein. For the carbs

plus correction for my blood sugar I took 3.55 units of insulin.

I will be in class for the next ten hours or so, therefore I can't post my

blood sugars as I take them but will post them tonight.

Hi ,

I am curious why you take so much insulin for a blood sugar of 7.1 and only

4 grmas of carbs if you're not insulin resistant?

This morning my blood sugar was 7.6 and I ate 30 grams of carbs and I took

3.55 units of insulin which is only half a unit more than yours.

I am on the pump so do not need to cover anything like the dawn phenomenon

as my basal insulin does this effectively for me, but maybe this is the

reason for the difference? My target blood sugar that my pump corrects to is

also only 6.0 which is probably not as low as your target blood sugar!

I was just curious.

ok, 2 hour post breakfast 128, 7.1.

I want that 120 or less so need to work on it. Perhaps dose 1 more unit of

humalog at breakfast.

pre-lunch 107, 5.9.

I had a can of tuna fish seasoned with brown mustard, salt, and pepper.

I also had a slice of baked ham.

I dosed 5 units to cover the slight elevation in the sugar. Normally I'd only

dose 3 units of humalog for such a meal.

I'll post 2 hour results.
