Guest guest
Well, two hours after breakfast my blood sugar is 15.6 or 281. I don't know why it's so high. Usually even not eating low-carb like the rest of you I would expect to be around 6 after breakfast. I did refill my pump cartridge this morning so it's possible the tubing had a bubble and I got mostly air for my bolus. Being that high it's like I didn't bolus at all! I corrected with 3.85 units of insulin, I think. I would have to double check to be sure. We'll see what I am before lunch. Jen

Guest guest
2 hour post after lunch was 88, , 4.8. next up is pre-dinner and post dinner. Regards, RE: your blood sugar results Let's see if I can start over again today. This morning my blood sugar was 7.6 or 137. For breakfast I had a bowl of high-fibre cereal with milk for a total of 30 grams of carbs, and also had a piece of cheese for protein. For the carbs plus correction for my blood sugar I took 3.55 units of insulin. I will be in class for the next ten hours or so, therefore I can't post my blood sugars as I take them but will post them tonight. Guest guest
Hey guys, My two hour post from lunch was 98, my pre-dinner check is 112. This has happened twice so it shows me I need more lantus so I'll increase it tomorrow. Dinner will be a grilled chicken salad from Mcs... one of my favorite! Lettus, tomatoes, crushed up bacon, eggs, and grilled/awesome seasoned chicken breast on top! Since the salad is *huge* I'll dose 7 units of insulin to cover it and the few carbs in the italian dressing. Guest guest
FG (fasting glucose) this morning at 9A. M.was 104. For breakfast I guess-estimate I consumed around 50 grams of carbs and dosed 15 units of Humalog and 25 units of Lantus after the meal. I did not do a two hour post prandial bs level. I did eat some nuts and drank three beers before supper when my bs level is recorded as being 96 at 6:30P. M. Guest guest
getting better and better. I was wondering about 180 shot of symlin before each meal. Is that 180 units of this stuff? Or is symlin measured differently? Guest guest
um I can not think of the straight break down but I think it is something like 1 unit of symlin is like 2.5 of insulin, Jen told me before but I forget, but it is different then insulin. they told me it would have the side effect of weight loss, I had stopped dropping weight, I have dropped almost 10 pounds on it, Kell MSN: Kell@... BTW, your meals/snacks sound very healthy! I don't think I have the patience to spend the time required for all the food preparation you must spend. Guest guest
Nice levels haryy! See what your two hour posts are... that is the most important number. Anything over 120, 6.6, is proven to cause damage over time. There is tons of medical research out there on a two hour post prandial blood sugar level and testing. Guest guest
Hey guys, pre-dinner I was 112, 6.2, I dosed 7 units of humalog and ate a Mcs grilled chicken salad with Italian dressing. I dosed 7 units of humalog to cover the meal. My two hour post was 53, 2.9. Looks like 5 units of humalog would have covered it. I ate two glucose tablets to elevate back up to around 80. 1 4 gram glucose tablet will raise your blood sugar 15 to 20 points. I'm having a diet squirt for my snack... I am actually still full from the salad! Diet squirt, for those who have never heard of it, is a soda pop that is a cross between diet sprite and diet mountain dew. It is awesome! Guest guest
Yes you can correct with an insulin syringe if necessary. I did it all the time when I did not use a pump. You just ceck your sugar aand if it is too high, give yourself a shot of however many units you need to get your sugar. If your sugar is say 18 2 hours after eating and you gave yourself insuin when you ate, then you do not give yourself as much insulin as you would 4 hours later, but about half as much as the first dose is till working. Re: your blood sugar results i dont understand doing this correction with insulin. can you only do this when on a pump. can you do this when taking insulin on the pen. thanks, karen RE: your blood sugar results Well, my day seems terrible compared to all of you! I woke up at 7.6 (137 mg/dl), took 3.55 units of insulin to cover 30 grams of carbs. I was 15.6 (281 mg/dl) after breakfast and corrected with 3.8 units of insulin. Before lunch I was 6.9 (124 mg/dl) and took 2.1 units of insulin to cover 25 grams of carbs (a sandwich on Weight Watchers bread and some sliced strawberries). About an hour after lunch I ate another 10 grams of carbs and took 0.9 units of insulin to cover them. About an hour after this my class ended and I went to the coffee shop for a short half hour lunch break. I tested at 10.2 (184 mg/dl) and had a latte and half a brownie which was 40 grams of carbs in total. I took 4.4 units to cover this. Two hours after this I was at 11.1 (200 mg/dl) and took a unit to correct this, since I still had lots of insulin on board. At this point I figured I've been spiking after meals so changed my I:C ratio from 1:11 to 1:10. I'm pretty sure hormones are mucking me up because my blood sugars have been much more erratic these past few days even though I'm eating fewer carbs! Two hours later I met with classmates to work on a group project. I would be on campus for another few hours but because it was after 5:00 nothing was open. I hadn't planned on staying late, but we have assignments due at the end of the week so needed to meet, so I had no kind of dinner packed. I was starving so had a 25 gram granola bar. The granola bar actually had no nutritional information on it but most seem to be 25 grams of carbs so this is what I bloused for, taking only 1.6 units because I had insulin on board and my blood sugar at this time was 4.9 (88 mg/dl). Two hours later I was down to 2.9 (52 mg/dl) so ate about 15 grams of Skittles. About half an hour after this I also had another latte which was 25 grams of carbs, another guestimate. I took 2.5 units to cover this. Now, about 45 minutes later, I am having an extremely late dinner. I still have lots of insulin on board but will bolus 3.6 units for a hamburger that my family has saved. I will test in two hours or so which will also be my before-bed reading. I do not plan on eating anything else today, so that is a total of 190 grams of carbs. That is pretty good for a day when I'm out of the house for almost 12 hours straight!! I will try to aim for lower tomorrow. I also hope my blood sugars are more stable tomorrow because this is pretty unstable compared to what I've been getting for the past few months, seems to be hormone-related, however, as it happens every few weeks it seems and I need to change basal rates and carb ratios to get things sorted out.
