---Vicki is right, one has to eat meals that are balanced and

nutrionally sound. Breakfast is a must. As a car cannot go without

fuel, so it is with the body. Breakfast is the fuel we need to start

the day. Skipping breakfast is a definite no no. I prefer eggs,

soft boiled or scrambled without butter, turkey bacon and one piece

of whole wheat toast, I usually put the eggs and bacon on the toast,

sometimes 1/4 cup of oatmeal instead especially when its cold

outside. Sometimes I have 4 oz light cranberry juice or a tangerine

which I can eat without a bg problem. Lunch varies. cheese rolled up

with lunchmeat, salad, chicken broth with cheese melted in it,

cottage cheese, berries. Dinner is meat, poultry or fish, green

veggie, cauliflower,tomato, salad. SF jello.

Holidays are always tough as there is so much temptation around. I

have had a hard time here too! Getting back on the wagon is hard,

keep slipping! But I will get on and get walking again even though

it has been cold here! Do not like the cold! Also fell recently and

am a bit stiff from that. No I didn't fall off the wagon that time!

Over my own two feet!

Wishing all a happy, healthy New Year.

You CAN take control. As others have said, you will have to eat differently.

How about exercise? Do you have one of those baby sling-type carriers that

you can wear and walk, walk, walk? I agree that a meter is the one

investment that is critical. This is how you can learn what foods your

body can handle.

Although I had PCOS symptoms since puberty, it wasn't diagnosed until 2/99

(age 47), along with my DM. I started out with oral meds and new

eating/exercising habits and weight did come off. Making changes one day at

a time is what works. I know this is all overwhelming now, but you will gain

control.

Was that a regular coke, or a diet coke? Regular coke is a carbonated

sugar syrup drink. Nasty for a diabetic.

***What you are eating has your blood sugar on a huge roller coaster - the

sugar raises it way up, your body makes insulin to deal with the spike, your

blood sugar goes way down, your liver kicks in to make sugar and/or you eat

more starch or drink a coke, and your blood sugar goes way up again, etc.,

etc. This, as you know, is very bad for you, and what is causing you to

feel so awful and your numbers to be so high.

Stop the cokes and muffins and most of the starches. Sip of some chicken

soup,. if you're not hungry. As your blood sugar comes down, you will start

feeling better, but not until you get your roller coaster numbers under

control.

One thing you didn't mention, Barb, is that if she is feeding herself

from Coke and muffins, what is she feeding to her 8 month old baby -

the same junk food? I don't know much about feeding young babies but

I have a horrible premonition ...

Excuse me ,

But you do not KNOW ME! What a horrible thing to say about me! I take very

good care of my daughter! I find this very rude! This list is about diabetes

and not parenting! I do not only take care of my 8 month old daughter I

also watch my cousin baby which is 6 weeks younger than my daughter. SO I

have my HANDS FULL with taking care of babies and FEEDING THEM the proper

foods in which they are allowed at this point in their life! This is one of

the reasons that my eating habits are so not great! If you ever had children

and raised them full time by yourself you would know that it is not easy to

find time for yourself. I think you are a very SAD person to say that I am

not taking care of my child with out any knowledge of my situation. I think

you are a complete and UNDER ASS, for Making such a remark against someone

you do not know! I thought this list would help me learn more about taking

better care of myself. So that I can be healthy and strong for my daughter.

I DID NOT come to this list to be accused by some lame brain that I am a bad

mother! I love my daughter with all my heart and take very good care of her!

My husband and I worked very hard and waited seven years for her.

I have noticed from other posts that you are apparently going

through a rough spot in your life and others on this list seemed to have

been very kind and supportive to you! I think you really need A LOT of HELP

if this is your view of the world. I am very sorry that you are such a

miserable person. Because of your nastiest. I will be leaving this list

because I REFUSE to be accused of such a horrible thing . as not taking care

of my child. I do hope your New Year is much better than your current, You

seems that you need it.

To all others that have answered my posts, positively I thank you and I will

be taking the information to heart, so that I can learn to take better care

of myself. And just a added note. I went to my grandmothers yesterday and

used her machine and my BG come back as 83. So apparently my machine is not

working correctly. Let's hope so anyway

Happy New Year,

Yes, I am afraid you are quite right, . I do write some stupid

and thoughtless things from time to time but I didn't do it to upset

you but out of concern for you and not to make you feel bad.

You have just made aquaintance with the proverbial elephant in the

So please don't leave the group on my account. Everybody else is nice

Sure I hear you, especially when you SHOUT!

I am not so sure about owing an apology, though, because I already

got cussed out at great length. I have acknowledged 's grounds

for feeling irritated already and I am going to wait and see how she

reacts. I don't think that anybody needs to apologize if he/she

already freely accepted a good cussing out, do they?

Correct me if I am wrong!
