Nita, it does take a long time to get into an endo the 1st time but with having hives may get you in quicker-call them. my ob said she could get me in quicker by expressing my problems and faxing my horrible labs and they would probably call me and move me up sure enough-they did....so its worth a try.

Hi everyone

I am new to this group. My name is Nita, I live in Avondale, AZ and I have autoimmune thyroid disease. I also have a gluten intolerance. I have been on thyroid meds for the past 20 years. I am currently covered in hives, which the doctor says is from the antibodies. There probably are so many questions that I have that it is hard to think of them all at once. I am going to see an endocronoigist on Sept 13th. ( soonest I could get in). Any suggestions on books or web sites that will help me with the many questions that I have? Being gluten intollerant I am not sure what diet to follow. This is such a mess. I am glad I found a group that has some of the same things going on as I do. Other people have a hard time relating to this.

and to hearing about all of yours. BTW I am 5'3 " , small frame, and weigh

152. I weighed around 120 all of my life until about a year ago when I was

put on medication that caused me to gain weight. I made it all the way up

to 160 before going off the medication!

Hi, I am Vicky, I am new to group too --I weight 155 and am 5' tall --another short one ---I too take medication but I have to keep taking it --it may have added weight which I believe but I have to try to do it and keep taking my meds.

I hear you on the medication. I am on synthroid for my thyroid and

boy did I put the weight on. I went up to 251 before finally saying

enough already. I really didn't think I could do it. But with the

support from this group and my meetings I am on my way to a healthier

lifestyle.
