Lots of extra Vitamin C....makes " habits " more regular

and comfortable :)

terry, you've been most informative and i thank you much. i just

returned from the grocery with brocolli, cauliflower, lettuce and

tomatoes. i'll stay in touch, thanks again to all for the kind

suggestions. BTW, the turkey is done roasting as well!

Ann Marie, thanks for the advice on taking " lots " of vitamin C. what

do you define as " lots " ? i'm currently taking 2,000 mg spaced

throughout the day. what works for you? thanks again...

hey there Bob,

no problem! What I did was I took my regular (sorry

about that) dosage and 2-3x'ed it--but I can't find my

bottle to tell you what I was at! I am so sorry, but

it really does help!

LOL, sometimes you just ask for it...

Bob, like the others, I would lose the gin and add veggies. Now, if you

absolutely have to have the gin, you could try just adding the veggies and

see what happens. I was never able to give up my Diet Pepsi and it didn't

hurt me to have it. Maybe the gin won't hurt you, but then again, maybe it

will. If you don't give it up and you don't lose weight, the gin should go

so that you know if it is causing a problem.

i stopped all prescription meds, was only taking claritin and

tetracycline PRN anyway...haven't missed either...thanks for asking.

i saw that precaution in DANDR and abided.

i stopped all prescription meds, was only taking claritin and

tetracycline PRN anyway...haven't missed either...thanks for asking.

i saw that precaution in DANDR and abided.

jean, thanks for the advice. the gin is very minimal. i use 1 oz. in

a 24 oz. glass and fill the rest with sugar-free tonic water and ice.

i will add the veggies i promise. thanks again.

While prescription meds may slow things down, please don't ever stop taking

them without consulting your physician. Dr. Atkins works with his patients

to get them off their meds - nobody should ever just do it cold turkey on

their own! If there are things that you are taking that slow you down, so

be it. Better to be a slow loser than an unhealthy fast loser!

While prescription meds may slow things down, please don't ever stop taking

them without consulting your physician. Dr. Atkins works with his patients

to get them off their meds - nobody should ever just do it cold turkey on

their own! If there are things that you are taking that slow you down, so

be it. Better to be a slow loser than an unhealthy fast loser!

my mouth shut. :) First, how much water are you drinking? You didn't list

any. It's important that you drink water. Opinions on how much vary, but

the most commonly recommended is 64oz plus 8 ounces for every 25pounds you

need to lose. Additionally, if you drink caffeine or alcohol you need to

drink *even more* and again, more if you're eating a lot of salty items.

You may find you need less, but a majority of people need to follow these

guidelines for water drinking in order to continue losing weight. For

induction, you should nix the alcohol all together. Finally, you need

vegetables! :) A multi-vitamin would be a good idea as well.

Here are changes I would make to your menu. (By the way, I know I'm super

nitpicky, don't take it hard, you're really making a superb effort!)

Breakfast

it's fine, but maybe have another egg and drink 16oz of water with it. (you

didn't state how much canadian bacon, but in general, one of those little

slices is .5carbs and eggs are .5 (or .6 if you use large, etc. etc) so I'd

call 2 eggs and a slice of canadian bacon as 1.5 and round to 2 just in

case. :)

Lunch:

fine, but you should add 2 cups salad (for induction I'd recommend lettuce

and cucumber and be sure to count the carbs for any other induction " ok "

veggies you add). On your salad, use small amounts of the lowest carb

dressing you can find, Newman's dijon lime is a good choice, as is

Ken's steakhouse creamy caesar. A lot of ranch and bleu cheese dressings

are usually 1 carb per 2 Tablespoons. You will find that you won't need as

much dressing as you think. Put your dressing on top of the salad and then

shake it all together. You'll be surprised to find that 2 Tablespoons will

actually put a thin coating on your entire salad. I would " guestimate " an

induction salad at 6 or 7 carbs. Again, drink 16 oz. water. If you have a

chopped egg we'll call that .5 and 1 Tablespoon mayonnaise as .5. So for

lunch the total would be about 8 carbs.

the protein is great! Again, you need vegetables, try 1 cup salad and 1/2

Bob, while I'm a big believer in fiber, I would suggest that for induction

that you nix the metamucil. Some irregularity is normal whenever there is a

change in eating habits and that will correct itsself in short order. I

think adding the vegetables and tweaking your menu will also help in that

department.

Bob, while I'm a big believer in fiber, I would suggest that for induction

that you nix the metamucil. Some irregularity is normal whenever there is a

change in eating habits and that will correct itsself in short order. I

think adding the vegetables and tweaking your menu will also help in that

department.

supplements.......wait, haven't we already done this

or was that another list? Yikes, I'm getting old or I

spend too much time online....lol

thanks for your kind suggestions. i do indeed drink lots of water. 2

glasses before breakfast, 2 glasses at bedtime and lots during the

day. i will nix the small amount on gin anyway and add the veggies.

i'll report back after my 2 weeks of induction are over. i'm in my

8th day. thanks again.
