Hello Dot and Welcome to the group!! Your recipe sounds great - so many possibilities!! Strawberry-Banana jell-o is a favorite of mine, I think that would be good with the extra strawberries. How about Raspberry jell-o and extra raspberries - Berry Blue jell-o with extra blackberries or blueberries. Oooh - the orange sparkle jell-o with extra mandarin oranges... Uh-oh, I think you've started something!!

Have fun reading the back messages - I look forward to hearing more from you!!

[wwliterside] Hi

Hi, , this is Dot (Ladner) , the megalodon@...is my son's email address which I also get. He's moved and uses another email address.I've been trying to read all of the back messages, may take mea while! I copied some of the recipes. I try not to make too manydesserts, but my husband loves the dreamsicle recipe. Last time I made it with strawberry jell-o, vanilla instant pudding, cool whip, and a handful of strawberries. I've also tried peach, but it's not as good as the strawberries. I look forward to all of the great support---and I know we can do this together!!Dot

Dear Holly,

Your weight loss is great. Mine is going much slower, but I think that is because I tend to eat at the high end of the scale. Today I actually went over 8 points - but, oh well, I will try to be good again today.

Keep up the good work and welcome!

Romy

Hi

I don't remember if I introduced myself. I've joined so many groups lately I can't keep up.I'm a 33 yr old stay-at-home-mom of 2 boys - Hunter - 2 1/2 and Cameron - 1.I joined WW online 8/17/01. I had my second weigh in this morning - I LOST 5.5!!!! That's a total of 10.9!!!! I am so excited! I never expected to lose that much so quickly. It's really motivating me to stay on this plan. I really haven't had much problem staying within my point range and I try to walk every morning before I eat. I read it's best to excersixe before you eat and it will raise your metabolism for the whole day.It really helps to plan ahead. I try to figure out dinner the night before, then I can plan the rest of the day around that. I make dinners that I can eat as well as my family.Congratulations to all who lost this week!

If insulin isn't bringing your BG down then the dose is wrong. What kind(s)

of insulin are you taking? How often? Based on what? Vicki

Can you tell us what you are eating? A virus will definitely raise bg's -

are you sure it's completely gone? One gram of carbohydrate (normal serving

approx. 15 g. carb) will raise your bg's 3-5 points, depending on the

glycemic value, which means one serving of carbs will raise your bg's up to

75 points. If you are eating a mid to high carb diet, perhaps you need to

significantly increase your insulin (in small increments at a time) or

reduce your carb intake. Increasing exercise helps significantly.

You did not say if you are still on meds. How old are you, that can be a factor

for women.

I am 43 and was diagnosed with diabetes 3 years ago,

after sufferring from a severe cold like virus that I

just couldn't recover from, leaving me extremely

thristy & fatigued. I was on 1 Syntharoid, 1

Glucotrol xl 5mg, and 1 Glucophage 500mg per day and

had good control of my BGs, varying from 80 to 130,

before I got sick on Jan 8.

This virus feels so much like the one I had before I

was diagnosed with diabetes! Both the virus and the

meds that my dr gave me to get rid of it, cough syrup

with codine and Prednisone, have raised my BGs into

the 300s, even as high as 377. It is very scary to me!

I have been eating hardly anything, so I know it is

not all from what I am eating. Dr H. has started me on

Insulin, but it wasn't helping bring my BGs down. He

has gradually raised my meds to 1 Syntharoid, 1

Gucotrol xl 5mg, 4 Gucophage 500mg, and 15 units of

Lantus insulin per day, which gradually brought my BGs

down into the 200s. He added 1 Actos 15mg a week and a

half ago. A few days ago my BGs finally dropped under

200. It is a relief, but so often I still feel that

no matter what I do or eat, I can't control it any

longer. I get so depressed and sick and tired of

being sick and tired, and wonder if I will ever feel

well again.

How long does Actos and Lantis take to work? Will

they really help me control my BGs?
