For Example, I'm not sure I need any in the morning, as I never have trouble getting up. I'm usually wide awake by 6:30, if not earlier. I guess I need to understand the circadian cycle, and how it pertains to sleep. Are you saying that getting levels up higher during the day will let them drop lower at night, allowing better sleep? Or don't we want to have really low levels at night? It seem like a dose at bedtime would energize, not relax. But this is good so you can control it. Too low levels of cortisol cause sleep problems just as much if not more than too high levels do. HC is very relaxing when you need it at bedtime. If ever I wake in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep, I can take 5MG HC and it knocks me right tout. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
I just wanted to make sure I was clear on a couple of things as I had similar questions. When I take HC at certain times during the day I feel sleepy for an little while than I begin to wake up, is this the ACTH being lowered. And if so, is this ok, in other words does this help to heal the adrenals by giving them rest. I guess I just dont have a good concept of how the whole cyle works. Thanks for your patience Val and all, I really appreciate your support. And if so, is this ok, in other words does this help to heal the adrenals by giving them rest.<< The sleepy you feel is your body relaxing as it has enough cortisol to handle the stresses at the time. Then when you wake up it is due to the cortisol ushering the thyroid into the cells and it going to work. You cannot feel ACTH being lowered, simply it's effects. And I do believe it is necessary to ,lower ACTH as I feel the constant battering of the adrenals by this trying to make them produce more cortisol when they can;t is what actually damages them in the first place. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store (Closing after Xmas!!!) http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

Guest guest
Oh, Mo, I have had sleep problems since childhood myself; I, too, wish I could just put my head on the pillow and go to sleep. Never in my whole life have I really experienced that. As I child I used my imagination in day dreams when I couldn't sleep or read a book under the covers with a flash light. Thought my mom didn't know - well, she sent me a clipping from the newspaper ad from the library. It had an illustration of a little girl under the covers with a book and a flashlight. Above her it says: " , are you asleep? " I about fell off the chair laughing b/c my name is and she knew all along! She also knew I couldn't sleep well; she told me that when I was a toddler, she would put me down for a nap, then would check on me during the nap and I was never asleep; just laid there day-dreaming until it was time to get up. My mother got so fed up with my leaving the bedroom light on when I could ot sleep that she started to remove the bulb. When I statrted to put it back in she then disconnected the electrical bits so there simply was NO light in my room at all. Didn;t help me though it may have helped her electricity bill which is all she was concerned abut really. Sounds like you had a nicer mother. Maybe you were one of these very bright kids who needed little sleep. It is one of the signs of high I.Q. in children, this needing less sleep. Guest guest
I would too if I didn't take nine megs of melatonin and an antidepressant called Surmontil, one of the few that raises REM sleep instead of lowering it. That and a CPAP machine does it for me, but even with this I have difficulty. Re: Re: sleep problems I cna " go " to sleep. I just can't " stay " asleep. Guest guest
I have problems both ways! It takes a long time to " get " to sleep, and then I wake up way early, like 3-4 a.m., although I will say that since I have been on Isocort, Iodoral, and Armour, (in that order, lol) that instead of waking up 2-3 times per night I am now down to one time per night. And it is not taking quite as long to get to sleep as it did, so upon reflection I am definitely encouraged. I am still tired, but after years and years and years and years, literally life long sleep problems, my sleep deficit is such that it will take a while. But I can already tell the difference. I am so much hoping that once I get optimized I will be sleeping so much better and will be able to lose this cursed weight - it affects my whole life - being this heavy affects my asthma, my endurance, I hate myself at this weight, I could go on and on, and I KNOW I will hurt less once I can lose weight, and I judge it will even positively impact my sleep. Of course, I know I should go to bed earlier, but years of just lying there for an hour or more have conditioned me to going to bed on the late side, so THAT is going to take some re-conditioning! Guest guest
Um, if you have a Vitamin Shoppe nearby, (or shop online at www.VitaminShoppe.com) go check out their Snooze-In with Melatonin, about $10 a bottle. I was taking straight melatonin, which puts me to sleep for about 3-4 hours, until I bought this stuff. Need to make sure you have time to sleep for 8 hours, because you do NOT wake up. Catmandu has to howl continuously for me to get up! Amy the Redhead
