Peggy,

Welcome! If there's one thing I am certain of it's that you will learn alot

from this group! There are as many diversities in the way the disease

progresses as there are people with PSC. I am a long timer of PSC (diagnosed

at 20 with PSC/UC - 1984) but am relatively new to the group. I joined in

Feb. This is a wonderful, caring, sharing, informative group. Hope you find

the answers you're looking for here.

Dear Group Members,

Hi, I'm Peggy and I've just been diagnosed with PSC--was diagnosed

with ulcerative colitis about four months before. I don't have any

symptoms for PSC and I understand it's very individual as to how the

disease develops. I've read a lot around the net, but hope to learn a

lot from people actually going through the same thing.

Regards,

Peggy

Welcome Peggy! It saddens me to think another person

has found us because it means one more person has PSC.

We are a very loving and supportive group. We don't

just deal with hard, cold facts about PSC, we help

with coping and praying and cheering, or singing a

person through their troubles.

Feel free to share your story and jump in and ask

questions.

I had the PSC dx in 97 and have had symptoms since

2000. I am doing pretty good, and the future

transplant isn't even a discussion in my doctor visits

yet....so there is lots of living to do.

Once again, Welcome!

Hey there everyone. I guess I have truly become a lurker. Thing are going

well and all my numbers are good. Total billi shot up to 2.2 but came back

down to .8 and my ALTs have been fluctuating (18-56) but are still within

acceptable range. Currently I am fighting some virus, not CMV although I

am border line, and they cannot figure out what I have. Just been feeling

worn out, joint and muscle pain and they are unsure what the reason is. I

haven't been working that hard, so who knows.

Maureen,

Glad to hear Jim's colonoscopy went well. I once had 71 polyps removed for

biopsy and last time there were none, but 4 pieces were taken for biopsy.

Sounds like his UC has settled down some which is definitely a plus.

Hillybillybob,

Congrats on finally avoiding a cholongitis attack. I was apprehensive on

my last one since I got so sick (resulted in two stays in the hospital 2

weeks apart) on the first one. Kept waiting on signs of infection but

luckily never came.

Aubrey,

Wonderful news about your MIL and mother. As others have said, first not

knowing if the wedding is going to happen as originally planned to it

looking like both will be able to attend will make it extremely special.

Ruth,

Outstanding news that was able to come home. I suspect he won't be

hopping behind the wheel with a stick shift so soon this time around.

Keeping up the prayers and hopefully this liver will rebound and he will be

able to avoid another tx.

Terry,

Sound like you are doing better - got a scare as I recall reading. I was

admitted two days after be let out when my LFTs went up 300% across the

board. They pumped me full of antibiotics and steroids and was released

the next morning, avoiding a liver biopsy to boot.

Barby,

I see that your cousin was having some difficulty but that you haven't

heard anything in a week. As you said, no news must be good news.

Continuing to pray for a speedy recovery.

Mel,

Last but certainly not least, it appears in the last post that your mother

was feeling better and I pray that continues so that she can attend your

daughter's (?) graduation this month (or was it June). After what we have

read about that lack of care from nurses, a temp of 103 given her current

condition(s) should have warranted a greater response from her. Good thing

you were there, but you must heed your own advice: you have to take care

of yourself as well. Many have reported feeling worse during stressful

times. I hope your pain subsides and you begin to feel better. I seem to

recall that you have been not feeling well for a while now and pray that

you get better soon

I know I didn't write about everything that has been happening but just

remember that everyone is in my thoughts and prayers. I'll try to do a

better job keeping in touch.

Hi, Brat. I did too much last night and this morning, and then got weepy and

painful,

so have spent some time resting to try to recoup. Looks like you had a busy

Are you sure it's ok to do so much after your surgery? It's only been, what,

a week?

Don't follow my example and have a relapse...ok? LOL Love, MM P.S. Donna

. I AM behaving today. Well,I was not on here really, except yesterday morning, so how much trouble could I get in to?

Naughty? HAH! Ain't that hoot miss "prim and proper " ! ? LOL... :-D

It was nice here for a few, but then that damned CA blew their crapola over our way. However, it is nice, sunny, and blue outside today. See if it stays.

My daddio's wife sent me an email, and said it was mass wind, raining, and flooding in some places.

I think they should just keep it over there.

Sounds like you got a lot of stuff done, I did too this weekend. I am glad it is out of the way. I even went through cabinets and drawers, frig, you name it. Everything is clean and organized inside and out. Yeah, it is my one OCD thing, and it is a great stress reliever for me. Sometimes stress works for me, rather than against me.

Ie: I got a job, and my house is spotless. Sometimes I cook a bunch of food when stressed out too.

I guess sitting on the "pity poty" only lasts so long with me. Then an " I AM SICK OF THIS " tude starts coming in. I start feeling like some of the people who drag me down are winning, and loving it too. So, cannot let them have that, can I!!!!

I am sorry that you received more bad news again.

You certainly have had a lot of that cancer word in you life this past year.

I know it has been a terribly rough year for you with loved ones being ill and passing away.

I know that is a poor prognosis. 's great grandma had esophogeal and stomach cancer. She was such a fantastic woman. I loved her dearly.

She declined all chemo treatments after the first few. She became deathly ill from it.

She decided to live with quality . The docs did not give her very long, but she ended up defying them by a good 4 yrs. She went across the border and was drinking this water, " aqua negra" /black water.

They also had her eat certain foods. I think this is part of what also started me into looking for other treatments when I was dx. She felt ok, went much longer than what the docs ever predicted, and was not sick the entire time.

No one claimed to cure her, just maybe extend life without her feeling so sick.I really miss her, she passed away in may of 1998, the same weekend my grandfather passed away.

That is a truly tough sentence to be handed. I know it is deemed incurrable. But, some people with the right attitude, and maybe exploring other options may be able to live what time they have left without being terribly sick.

I cannot imagine how your friend must be feeling at this time. It would be unbearable to hear that your mate had something so incurrable.

And you are right, that is some scary shit. I pray that your friend can be kept as pain free as possible. And I pray you do not get anymore bad news.

Love ya,Normi

Hi Susie,

I just read your email about your mother. When is she going for her MRI? I know this must worry your family so much. I feel so sorry for your daddy being the only one there with her.

Does her doc feel like this is something that can be turned around if it is the mini strokes? It must also be so frightening for her since she doesn't feel like she knows your daddy or her home. I just can't imagine how scarry that would feel.

Is there any other family that lives in the same town they do that can come over and assist your dad with her?

Please write again when you can and let us know what is going on. I will be praying for your family and I know that many others here will do the same.

There is no way to tell you not to be upset about something like this, but try very hard to stay as calm as you can.

Love, Donna

Hello

Hello all,I haven't said much for a long time. I read all the e-mails and pray for all of you. I am so upset right now I can hardly see to type. My mother had a heart attack and by-pass surgery in August. She came through the surgery well and physically she is doing well. But it seems something has happened to her mental capabilities. She is going to a new primary care doctor and he ordered an MRI. It appears she has suffered numerous mini strokes. Those most likely occured while she was on by-pass during surgery. Those have effected her brain. It sort of sounds like she has alzheimers, but he is not leaning toward that, but the effects the strokes had on her brain. She doesn't recognize my dad nor her home and wants desperately to be out of it. She says there is some man sitting around crying that she is going to leave him (that is my dad). I just talked to her (she lives in MO and I live in OK) and my sisters aren't available at the moment. She wants to call some one to come get her and when she leaves there she is never going back. I am so upset. I don't know what to do. I know I am rambling. I just wanted to "talk" to someone. Thanks for listening.Susie C "The LUPIES Store" Come check out our store...http://www.cafepress.com/thelupies"The LUPIES Web Page"http://www.itzarion.com/lupusgroup.html"The LUPIES online photo albums!" Donna,

My mom has already had an MRI. She had one a week a go. I guess that is where they saw the evidence of the mini strokes. I have two sisters who live close to her and they have been helping out. I am just upset because I feel I should be helping too. I have made suggestions and they have followed up on most of them. I will let everyone know how things are going. Thanks for your concern.
