I totally agree with you, but I think

you are saying it wrong. I don’t think you are ‘smarter’

than your body, I think you are ‘listening’ to your body. You have

figured out exactly how much food you need to make it through the day. That

works wonderfully for your lifestyle right now. I, on the other hand, am in my

kitchen and dining area all morning long. It is much sweeter for me to eat a

small bite every hour or two in between homeschooling my two teens.

I don't want to have to worry about eating when I'm at school. I don't

want to get hungry during class and have my stomach be growling loudly. You

know what? I did this yesterday and today, and altough I eat past the time when

I feel full, I don't eat until it hurts, and after about a half hour my stomach

feels really good. This only happens if I eat this way in the morning; if I eat

past full at night I feel terribly uncomfortable and it hurts when I breathe. I

think it's because in the morning my metabolism is so much faster, my body

seems to like eating substantially in the morning. That's when it's most

efficient. Anyway, so I didn't get hungry until a short time after I got home,

and I took care of it then. Way easier! I think this works for me. Sometimes

you have to be smarter than your body, sometimes you need to plan out what's

best. Say you knew you were going somewhere and wouldn't be able to eat for a

long time later. You wouldn't just eat until you felt like you could stop,

because then you would be in a situation where you would get hungry and

wouldn't be able to eat. So you eat a little bit more and just get hungry

later. I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

Vicki, I'm homeschooling too and I'm also in my kitchen all morning. I usually have a small, late breakfast once I've gotten them started on school and at a point where they are working on something independently (mine are 5th, 3rd and 2nd grade) and then sometimes will eat a very small lunch when I make them lunch or will wait if I had more at my late breakfast. The key is just waiting for the hunger. I'm learning now that I don't have to eat to 5 and am finding it much easier to stop, if I don't try to find 5. Just eating a little and taking that edge off works well for me to keep me from eating beyond 5. Today, I had two small canned biscuits with some blueberry cream cheese spread on with my coffee about 10:00, then at 12:00, I ate the second half of my daughters p-nut butter sandwich (crust removed), and two apple slices. I got pretty close to 5 with the biscuits, but more like a 4 with the sandwich. That was about an hour and a half ago and I'm feeling at about a 1 right now. I'll have something small in a bit after I get some laundry going. : )

teenagers, huh? How scary is that? I'll be there before I know it! Happy homeschooling!

Actually, what I do, is I try to choose something that I know will last longer

(like Peanut Butter ... because it's a protein). Proteins will carry me through

longer than other foods will, so I try to choose those when I know I won't have

access to food for a while. That way I'm not overeating just to compensate.

Also, you can pack granola bars or other " travelable " foods in your purse/bag

for later. Something that won't overdo it, but will tide you over until you can

get to a meal. Water's great for this, too! :o)

Just some suggestions. Obviously, you have to find what works for you. If you

want to overeat to get you through, that's up to you, of course.
