After n's booster for the MMR at age 10 she came down with JRA. We

will never know if there is a correlation or not. We have never gotten her

another shot since. (n,15, systemic)

Dear Sharon, You should be able to get a waiver from the school. I did this with my children. You can also contact White Dove Healing Arts at: http://www.quantumxrroid.net/homeopathy/index.html and perhaps Bill Cunningham can guide you also. Hi Sharon,

I don’t know what state you’re

in, as the laws for exemption vary for each state.  Here’s a link with

the laws for each state:  https://www.nvic.org/state-site/state-exemptions.htm

As she’s had immunizations in the

past, they have mercury (thimersol) in them.  I’d check her for heavy

metals as they can really weaken the immune system.

Many states have laws that allow exceptions. I don't know where you are; however, you may find some answers on http://www.nvic.org. This is a website for vaccinations. Hope this helps. Here in Arkansas, one only needs to go to a Notary, write a statement and have it notarized. I understand CO has some similar laws. Some state require you to have a religious statement;however, I hope you find some info on the website....

There is a law which allows for refusal of immunizations due to religious believes. When they asked me what religion my kids were I said the one that does not believe in killing or causing sickness with a shot. Then I proceeded to inform them that if THEY were willing to personally sign a affidavit for responsibility for my child's health after having the shot, I'd be more than happy to allow it.

Amazing how fast that form flew out of their desk.

I read numerous books and did so much internet searching while pregnant with my

son on

this issue, and honestly, the more I read, the more convinced I became that

vaccinations

do far more harm than good (if indeed they do any good at all). My son has never

been

vaccinated and never will, with the sole exception if we decide to visit a

country where the

yellow fever vaccine is required; there are no exemptions (except

medical...maybe I can

find a doc willing to give a medical exemption???) and no other ways around this

vaccine,

even according to Mercola, unfortunately. Since you are in CR I know it is more

difficult to

access certain books, but a few good websites to check out are:

http://www.909shot.com/

http://www.mercola.com/2001/aug/18/vaccine_myths.htm

Mercola also recently highlighted a study showing that the more education a

mother has,

the LESS likely she is to vaccinate her children.

There are countless other sources online; once you get started you'll have no

problem

finding what you need.

Where in CR are you? My family and I are moving down later in the year, and if

we buy the

piece of land we're trying to get now, we'll be about an hour outside of

Siquirres. I'll have

all my alternative health books with me, so if by chance you are still in need

of reading

materials, I'll be happy to share.

Feel free to email me directly if you'd like, especially since we're both soon

to be living in

the lovely country of Costa Rica :)

BTW, the vaccines are NOT legally required in CR, just in case you didn't know

that.

I think that on this board, you'll likely find most of us opposed to the

vaccines. I deeply regret giving my DD her vaccines and I know she was

harmed by them (and she only had the 2-month and a partial 4-month set).

If I have any more children, they will not be touched by vaccines. But I

also remember trying to find a balanced view of the two camps. My

naturopath recommended this book:

http://www.amazon.com/What-Doctor-About-Childrens-Vaccinations/dp/0446677078/sr=\

8-1/qid=1171379096/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-7710520-8372945?ie=UTF8 & s=books

It's called *What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Childrens

Vaccinations*by Cave.

I found that this book was trying to present a balanced view, but it was by

no means a complete vaccine education. It left out some of the information

like why some people might have a religious objection to the vaccines. (I

didn't realize it, but I do have a religious objection, and I wish my church

had spoken up about it.)

And it also seems to me (and this is my impression and by no means do I have

any data to back this up) that most people who have kids on the autism

spectrum that think it was due to the vaccines, noticed that it was after

the MMR shot that their children " changed. "

I can relate; I feel the same way about my son's immunizations. I

really didn't want him to have any, but soon discovered there wasn't

much way around it. He's 5 and has had everything he's supposed to,

because it's required for daycare and will be required for public

school. Everytime I ask if he really has to have it, they kind of

roll their eyes and say yes, if he's going to public school, he

does. I fought pretty hard about the chicken pox vaccine, because a

natural immunity to chicken pox runs in my family and because it's

new (I'm wary of anything new that hasn't had time to show long-term

effects)... but it turned out the daycare told us he HAD to get it

because the state requires it. It's really frustrating to be living

in a world where we have so little control about what gets put in

our childrens bodies!

I also argue everytime the doctor wants to put him on antibiotics.

My ex-husband and I fight over it, and he almost always gets his

way. He says it's " child abuse " to withhold medicine from a sick

child. Everytime he says that I get scared he might try to get

custody. I finally concluded that all I can do at this point is go

along with it, but set a good example and teach my son about health,

so that one day he can heal himself if he needs to. It's a shame

it's that way.

If anyone has any advice how I might handle this better, I'd welcome

it. Thanks.

Sorry I don't really have advice for you, . I know how you

feel, though.

Where do you live now that your son did not have to get vaccines?

For the last 5 years, everyone has been telling me that Tennessee

requires all these vaccines for the school system (including

daycares!). Do you home school your son?

I wish we could have avoided all these unneccessary shots. Luckily

my son hasn't had any problems that we can tell - I was especially

scared about the MMR which has been linked to autism - so far he is

okay. But it would've been even better to not get them at all.

For what it's worth, every state here in the US has provisions for

vaccinue objection. Whether it's a philosophical, medical, or religious

objection, you can waiver out of vaccines. " They " don't want you to know

you can do that, but you can.

In our view, it's worth the fight. Let your child's immune system work

the way it's supposed to, and don't risk damaging yourself or you child by

various vaccine components. It's just not worth it in my view.

The Vaccinations group on is a great resource for vaccine

infomration and healthy living. (Not that this isn't a remarkable

resource too, but the Vaccinations group obviously has vaccine-specific

info that's hard to track down all in one place.)

Best wishes!

" Where do you live now that your son did not have to get vaccines? "

As the other post stated, every state has exemptions, " they " just won't tell you

that. NO

ONE, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, can force you to vaccinate your child (with the

exeption of traveling to a yellow fever country, unless, as I stated before, you

can obtain a

medical objection, or maybe pay the " bribe " ). This includes situations like

emergency room

visits. They can threaten to call CPS on you, and perhaps they will, but if you

are confident,

professional, and very well armed with referenced information, there is

absolutely nothing

they can do to you. Do your homework...it will pay off.

Although I intend to homeschool my son and any other children we have (he's only

14 mos

now) the repeated loss of freedoms in this country has been a factor in our

decision to

move to Costa Rica. It hurts me to hear stories like those of you have written

here....being

told you must vaccinate, when it is an outright LIE.

If you do not want to vaccinate your child in the state of Tennessee, you

just sign a waiver. It is not mandatory for you by law. I know you've

already done them, but you can keep this in mind for the future boosters.

Oh my gosh! Thank you for telling me this! This is the first I've

heard of it. I'm really glad, because even though he's already had

Wow, I went to this website and now I feel kind of angry! Turns

out, all the crap (excuse me) they did to my son when he was born

wasn't mandatory either! I really hated all that, especially the

stuff they put on his eyes, but being a first time mom and not being

educated enough about my options, I thought I had no choice.

Also, I didn't know there was a vaccinations group on . Thanks

True, but getting a doctor in a hospital setting to respect your wishes may be

easier said

than done (not that it can't be done; I've just read alot of stories of women

who discussed

the issue of non-intervention with their docs ahead of time, but at the moment

of birth

the doc did otherwise!!) The best way to avoid interventions during birth is to

birth at

home; homebirth is actually safer than hospital births, according to statistics

gathered in

parts of Europe, where the infant/maternal mortality rates are MUCH MUCH lower

than in

the US! I don't have that particular study handy (but if you'd like I'll try to

find it) but there

is so much great info about homebirth on the web...if you want to, you'll have

no trouble

finding it. But if you do need/want particular websites, let me know and I'll do

my best to

find what you're looking for.

Thanks for all the info! I'm learning so much! Wish I had learned

some of this stuff sooner.

==> in TN; I understand how you feel. I'm 65 years old and I

asked my Dad last year whether he approved of us kids having the

Polio Vaccine in 1955; there were 5 of us within 6 years of age. He

said no, but he had to fight the School in order to make us exempt.

Thank the good Lord for my Dad! He thought it was insane that

vaccines were given to healthy children under any circumstances. He

thought they were poison, and he was right.

==>Also, a friend of mine, who is now 79, was born in Pennsylvania

and she said it was mandatory to zap babies' thyroids because of the

high incidence of goiter in the US at that time, AND get this, the

doctors and hospitals did it without getting the parents' permission

and parents didn't even know about it.

==>It is diabolical what the medical profession can force upon

people, bypassing or taking away their rights and freedoms. I

believe the U.N. is also trying to ensure parents don't have any

rights when it comes to their children, across the world. We are

seeing more and more evidence of that in North America. Look at the

boy in Saskatchewan, Canada whose parents wanted to take him to

Mexico for natural cancer treatments. The court ordered that he

must undergo chemotherapy. After it was over his parents were then

able to take him to Mexico, but it was too late and he died. It is

all about money, by politicians, the medicos, drug companies, the

food industry, big business, etc. They have the rights to poison us

and even our own governments do not protect us. Follow the money!

What I think is the problem is that while schools and

other places might not be able to force you to

vaccinate, daycares which are privately run, can

refuse to admit your child if they are not vaccinated.

I did vaccinate my son because I did not take the time

to research the problem thoroughly and I had to fight

way too many battles with my son and the rest of the

mainstreamers. I refuse to vaccinate for flu and

chicken pox as those things are rarely fatal and

wouldn't permanently damage you.

Another good reason for us to birth our babies at home. :)

Something similar happened here in the US. That's why it's SO important

that we make ourselves as informed as possible as we try to take control

of our health.
