Guest guest
Yes Sharon it is the blue cheese in the jar and you buy it usually in the produce section and it is refridgerated. It must be kept cold. I am not sure if Gorton's is spelled Gorton's or Gortin's. It also has flavor. Now I am not talking about the breaded kind, but the lemon. Guest guest
I am very familiar with the count-a-dose. I used it from the time it came out until I went on an insulin pump. The only problem with it is that it measures only 1/2 cc of insulin. there are some diabetics who take more than 50 units (shame on them) so the 1/2 unit syringe is not helpful to them. Hopefully these diabetics will get under better control so they can use the smaller one. The 100 unit syringe is no longer made by the company. Re: Cy - low carb I was just wondering if the blind diabetics know about the device called count a dose? I use it to draw up my insulin up. Just wanted to know if everyone is familiar with it? rw Re: Cy - low carb > > > Hello Sharon and List, > I do know Marie's Blue cheese salad dressing has zero carbs and loads of > flavor. > > Also I'd like to suggest Gorton's lemon fish. Guest guest
How do you like the pump? I have ask my insurance about getting me one, but they say I have to be type 1. Even my dr. says that I wouldn't qualify for one. rw Re: Cy - low carb > > > > > > Hello Sharon and List, > > I do know Marie's Blue cheese salad dressing has zero carbs and loads of > > flavor. > > > > Also I'd like to suggest Gorton's lemon fish. Guest guest
Hi RW, I use the count-a-dose nd simply love it. Someday I'm going to find a back up one incase something ever happens to mine. It fits nicely in a purse or travel bag and you don't have to keep it cold or at room temperature. Guest guest
I have both a count-a-dose and the Lily pen. Both will do the job. However, I cannot say the count-a-dose is better than the Lily pen. I can say the Lily pen of Humalog is a lot more convenietnt than the count-a-dose. Can you carry your insulin around in your shirt pocket? Probably not if you use the count-a-dose, since you would have to carry the count-a-dose plus syringe plus the alcohol wipe plus a vile of insulin. Then you would have to affix the vile of insulin to the count-a-dose device, which takes up a lot of room in its own right and count your dose of insulin from the vile. While you are doing this with the count-a-dose device, I can affix the needle to the Lily pen, count my dose of Humalog and inject it and put the pen away and dispose of the spent needle while you are still trying to draw your dose of Humalog from your vile of insulin with the count-a-dose device. While I agree the counta-a-dose system will do the job, you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to convenience with the Lily pen, which takes up little space and is extremely portable. For me and convenience and portability give me the Lily pen any day. It is simple and easy to use. Re: Cy - low carb > > > > Rita, that fish does sound good. Guest guest
Gee, I love the pump and I don't understand why you would have to be a type 1. Insulin dependent is insulin dependent! You should ask your doc to send the request for a pump to your insurance and he should put down that your diabetes would be under better control with a pump. Re: Cy - low carb How do you like the pump? I have ask my insurance about getting me one, but they say I have to be type 1. Guest guest
In the Access vans, I just wait to do the test while we are in stop mode! I carry my glucose meter in a small zippered bag, available in most stores. Sometimes the timing is tricky-like the van starts up just as I am about to put the blood on the strip-but most of the time I get it there! (without drawing blood from my neighbor! (smile) Re: Cy - low carb The Access Vans are so bumpy I'm afraid I'll kill myself. (smile) I hate to sound stupid , but where did you get the bread container? Does it have a handle on it to make it easy to carry? Sorry more questions again. Guest guest
Hello folks, Well, I thought I would let you know what is going on with me. I am seeing some great results lately. I had a fasting blood sugar this morning of 113. I went to town today and had a tacco salad for lunch. About two hours after lunch, I took my blood sugar. It was 105. I had a nice salad for super and walked for thirty minutes about nine oclock. I just took my blood sugar and it was 86. I am having great results. Thanks, Jerry Re: Cy - low carb > > > > > > > Rita, that fish does sound good. Guest guest
My count-a-dose contains no insulin. The insulin in my Lily Humalog pen requires no refrigeration, and I can carry it in my shirt pocket along with the needle and alcohol wipe. You will never confuse the insulins with the Lily pen, since the Humalog is inside the pen, which is completely different in shape from a vile of Humalog and a vile of Lantus. For dosing Humalog it is an excellent backup system. For convenience and ease of use you cannot beat the Lily pen. Both systems work, but the Lily pen is easier and quicker to use. I just thought you might like to know. Re: Cy - low carb > > > > > > > Rita, that fish does sound good. Guest guest
I use the Accu-check Voice Mate. I have a hard time getting enough blood to use the One touch. the Voice Mate, like all talking meters, has its problems, but I like it as the strip sticks out of the machine and takes very little blood to make it work. I sure hope the Sugar Track comes out soon, though! Re: Cy - low carb That's good to know. You can bet I'll try if the time comes and I need to. Guest guest
Please don't let them make you use the 70-30! You can insist. After all, it is YOUR body-not theirs. Re: Cy - low carb I haven't started taking Humalog yet. I go see my doctor again on June 14th. We will be changing then. They want to give me what they want me to have as for example, 70/30 and I don't want that. I trust what you say more. Thanks. Guest guest
As of Tuesday night of this week I'm taking 50 units. I am insulin resistant too. I am noticing that while my sugars aren't down to 80 and 120 or less depending on the pre meal and the 2 hour post meal they are staying lower and they are closer together when I take them instead of flying all over the place. It's getting better. sharon > Sharron, how much lantus are you taking now? Guest guest
good work. keep it up. I'd say limit your meals to 30 grams of carbs for now and you will be able to study your sugar patterns much better. If you don't mind me asking, can you see at all or are you blind?
