Rogene,

My surgeon is Dr. Huang. Are you aware at all of she puts her pt.s

on an anitfungal? If she doesn't after I tell her, should I change

Dr.s?

Thanks for the info!

Lynda,

It attacks my pancreas, I have had severe low back pain with fungal

defense and caprylic acid. I am figuring it is my pancreas due to the

fact that pain meds do not touch the pain and it goes away so quickly

after I stop it.

Cherie,

I would do the caprylic acid, cheaper than an

anti-fungal, and easier on your liver.

To tell you the truth, when I wanted an anti-fungal, I went to an

overseas pharmacy and got enough to actually do some good.

But will probably give you about 3 tablets and that is it. She

is pretty conservative with giving out anti-fungals.

The best anti-fungal is your diet. Avoidance of the things that feed

fungus will make it go away. That means veggie smoothies and not

fruit ones, and avoid all white starches, dairy, etc. Potatoes are a no-no.

Go on ebay and find cookbooks, one I think was called Beat the Yeast

Naturally. I will have to look, it has been years since I owned that

one. But the right diet (see The Yeast Connection by Crook)

and a strict observance of things that feed yeast is what you have to

do to beat it. An anti-fungal is merely a jump start.

Cherie, I don't want to second guess what Dr. Huang may want you to do. My concern is that she knows how you feel after taking antifungals. That may mean something to her in regards to your surgery, or it may not. I really don't know. . . .I think it's something she should know though. She will know what to do, if anything. Hugs, Rogene

Cherie,

Oh yes, I forgot. Dr. Huang did give me an RX anti-fungal for after surgery - I can't remember the name but it is a popular one. I took them but from what I hear they are bad on the liver. I only took 3 I think, worked great.

Hi Lynn,

Did you tell her that you had yeast problem or is this something she

routinely prescibes after surgery?

Thanks

Cherie,

This was in April and at the time I was oh so sick with brainfog and short-term memory loss - but as I recall I believe I mentioned the fact that if I had to take antibiotics I would like a RX and she was more than happy to give me one. It was for Diflucan - I think it was three or four pills. The normal amount is 1 I think. I hear it isn't the best on your liver but it did prevent me from getting a yeast infection and jump started my fungal defense treatment.

Hope this helps.

Cherie,

I would talk to Dr Huang about any antifungal concerns. She didn't

put my on any antifungal medications... I didn't tell her I had any

concern about fungal problems. She didn't say that she say problems

during surgery... I don't know if I have a fungal problem right

now.... I'm just operating on I'll do the things that make me continue

to feel better every day. When I come across a problem that I need to

solve... I'll cross the bridge.

I do know that since she has removed my implants.. I feel better every

day. My joints hurt less, my rash is better and I have more energy.

I hope you are feeling better. I know you will be once your implants

are out.

Thanks for the info! I will mention this to her at my pre-op. I see

her the day before the sugery. I am changing my diet now and trying

to take caprylic acid every 2-3 days just trying to see if it will

help and get some sort of jump start on this.

Cherie,

I did the same. I tried to change my diet as much as I could before and then got real agressive after - The Maker's Diet on-line. Again, I am feeling better everyday and much much better than pre-explant.

I found Dr. Huang to be very accomodating to any of my requests. She really does want what is best for you - she is wonderful.

I hope the caprylic acid works better for you and you don't have the horrible side effects you were with the fungal defense.

Lynn, Difulcan isn't an antibiotic in the usual sense . . . It's designed to reduce fungal organisms where antibiotics are designed go after bacteria. . . Hugs, Rogene

Rogene,

I am unsure what you mean? I took the antibiotic first and then the Diflucan after to help combat the damage of the antibiotic. I guess I am not sure what the Diflucan was for then?

Thanks,

Lynn,

Did you feel better at all changing your diet prior to surgery? I

hope I am not wasting my time by doing this. Sometimes I wonder if I

should wait until after explant. I figure I would be wasting my time

though taking caprylic acid without completing changing my diet. I

am trying to cut out sugar and wheat right now, should I wait until

after the surgery? I am being very drastic right now.

Thanks for your help!

Cherie, You can eat wheat . . . just not refined grains . . . like white bread and rice. . . Sugar is a killer though! . . . And the hardest to quit because your body will scream for it as long as you have a fungal problem. IMHO, it's one of the worst addictions there is because there's some form of sugar in so many processed foods. Hugs, Rogene

Rogene,

You are so right, I have been out shopping and have discovered how

uneducated I am on how much sugar is in our foods....wow! I am

stopping sugar right now and I do not have a lot of choices, but I'm

doing it. I found enough to eat but in order for me to eat a vege

salad, I need some sort of dressing. I did find a sugar free/gluten

free one today that I am going to try.

I am also trying the caprylic acid. I took one 2 days ago and another

again today...so far no low back pain! Yeah!

I do have a question for you though, I have been looking up candida

diets and they say I can eat brown rice but now wheat, is this wrong?

I'm a bit confused now.

Thanks!

Cherie,

I think diet is key to overall health, so changing it before surgery will not only help your health in general (even if you didn't have toxic bags) but should help get you ready for your diet change after surgery. Changing my diet was one of the hardest things that I had to do, so starting early to get me prepared probably benefited me.

I only think it can help you instead of hurt. As for the caprylic acid, if you have a fungal problem right now - I also think it would be good to get a handle on it. Again, my thoughts are it can't hurt.

I think it is a personal choice though. I am sure there are some women who don't change their diets at all and are okay. I think it probably depends on the health issues you are having. I was OH so sick before explant that I would try ANYTHING to get better!! My hubby hated it because it affected my lifestyle - for the better, but I was so different to him. No more pizza, popcorn and soda when renting/watching DVDs. No more beers and junk food at the baseball games - etc. etc. It was so tough for me and somewhat depressing at times. But, like Rogene has said - once you stop eating junk food/sugary food - when you do eat it again it just isn't the same. At least is wasn't for me. I have had some sugary items since explant and detox - and it is much too sweet for me now. I really prefer something less sweet

like fruit.

Oh, but I do love my organic dark chocolate every now and again :) I am certainly not the detox expert in this group by no means though, so I am sure others who know more will chime in.

Hugs, Lynn

Cherie, I don't know how it got started . . . I guess when women went to work and stopped cooking from scratch at home . . and Wonder bread came out with that beautifully white, soft bread. . . that needs something on it to have any taste at all! Grains are processed to get that whiteness . . . in the process, they lose their nutritive value. . . You can eat WHOLE wheat . . . not refined (WHITE) wheat. There are plenty of choices if you'll read the labels. . . Be sure WHOLE is the first ingredient! There are soooooooooo many wonderful foods you can eat! . . . It's just that, when trying to explain this kind of diet, one must emphasize the things you can't eat. . . .Check Rubin's program on TPN about noon on Tuesday. . . He has a master chef who prepares wonderful meals that anyone would love. . . . Sugar is hidden in so many foods . . . so is a lot of other junk. . .CNN has a special this evening on the fast food industry . . . Try to watch it. We need a hundred more shows like this to get the message out. . . However, I found something they said interesting . . . This country cannot raise enough food to feed everyone a healthy diet! . . . The feds have been promoting corn and soy to the detriment of veggies and fruits! Is it any wonder we have health problems? When embarking on a new way of eating, I'd suggest doing one thing at a time . . . Sugar is a great place to start! . .. If you'll find healthy foods you enjoy, pretty soon they Will squeeze the bad ones out. The fact that you were able to take caprylic acid and not react is a very, very good sign. . . Hopefully you're over the hump and won't have any more pain. . . And . . .something you said earlier about it

being a waste to detox before explant . . . NO . .. detox, detox, detox. . . Your body will be in much better condition for surgery and you should rebound faster. . . It's unlikely you'll feel like you did pre-implant until after explant . . . but what ever progress you make now will stay with you. how much sugar is in our foods....wow! I am stopping sugar right now and I do not have a lot of choices, but I'm doing it. I found enough to eat but in order for me to eat a vege salad, I need some sort of dressing. I did find a sugar free/gluten free one today that I am going to try. I am also trying the caprylic acid. I took one 2 days ago and another again today...so far no low back pain! Yeah!I do have a question for you though, I have been looking up candida diets and they say I can eat brown rice but now wheat, is this wrong?I'm a bit confused now. Thanks!Cherie>> Cherie,> > You can eat wheat . . . just not refined grains . . . like white bread and rice. . . > > Sugar is a killer though! . . . And the hardest to quit

because your body will scream for it as long as you have a fungal problem. IMHO, it's one of the worst addictions there is because there's some form of sugar in so many processed foods.> > Hugs,> > Rogene>

Cherie,

My new diet doubled/tripled the time I spent grocery shopping!! It took me FOREVER!! This is why the Maker's Diet on-line was good for me. I am SO not a cook but this gave me ingredients, quantities, grocery lists and choices of things that were good to eat!

You are doing so good by already turning your diet around!

Cherie, While you're watching for sugar-free foods, watch out for artificial sweeteners too . . . As bad as sugar is, it's better than the artificial stuff! Vinegar and oil can be a good dressing . . . Personally, I use prepared salad dressings . . . but I use very small amounts - and I always request my salad dressing on the side. . . I hate my salad swimming in dressing! Gag! . . . I've found that a little feta cheese can all but replace salad dressing.
