Hi ,

My daughter was first diagnosed with retardation. The doctor said the most

she would ever do is roll from her belly to her back ... never play toys ...

never sit up ... As he stormed out of the room at Hershey Hospital he stated

I hope she proves me wrong! Well, she sits up, walks, talks a little, and

plays toys. When Kennedy Krieger said she is PDD years ago Hershey said I

spoon feed Kennedy Krieger information. Boy Hershey gives me a great deal of

credit. Well, a few years later Hershey seemed not to know how to describe

Jen so they just sat in the room with us smiling and looking at Jen. Kennedy

Krieger is not referring to Jen as Autistic and we don't even bother with

Hershey other than to have her eyes checked due to four pervious eye

operations.

I agree with you ... girl seem different, but hopefully some doctors will

start looking into this possibility more.

That it so-o-o-o true. I do too! I fall back on Retardation every time

Family Driven Project comes around once a year here! They have really help

us with getting equipment for Jen. It is run through MHMR of York County,

Pa. and I also used the ARC for advise on many different issues ... again

Retardation! It is kind of sad, but a mom has got to do... what a mom has

got to do!

Hi Cind,

My daughter, is 10 1/2. Since she turned 10 she's been more

emotional, crying at the drop of a hat. We tried St' 's Wort for awhile

to help calm her. Just when it seemed to be kicking in to help, I saw the

posting where this herb can cause cataracts if the eyes are not protected

while out in the sun over a long period of time. There went that supplement

out the door! I was wondering if anyone has tried Kava Kava with their

daughter and if anyone knows if there are any negative side effects to

consider. Thanks!

Hi ,

Im from Southern CA.. I have a 5 1/2 year old little girl with

Autism. She only says about 10 words but is so sweet. I also have a little

boy who is almost 7. He had the same diagnose but has now mainstreamed into

a catholic school and the school and others don't know of his earlier

diagnose. Who know why some children are able to and others (like my

daughter) cannot. Anyway, you're a few steps ahead of me with your girl

being older. Im sure I could learn a lot from chatting from you! Nice

meeting you. Will chat later.
